  1. 5-15.... Couldn't get anything to stay on!! Had a newbie onboard, so that didn't help much. They just kept coming unbuttoned!! Great fishing in 80-90 fow, early. The sun came up and they shut down. Great morning. Riggers with glow blue dolphin at 60-70 were HOT Blue dolphin on 300 copper took a lot of fish too. I switched everything to blue dolphins and white paddles. Nothing compared to riggers and copper.
  2. fished with the wife today. 3-3 from 10:30-1:30. 80-115 fow. Nice 10-12 lbs fish. blue dolphin mag 56 down rigger blue dolphin slim 300 copper glow firedog jp slammer full core little bumpy out there!! Nice to be back out there after over a month off!! It's great getting the wife on fish!! She had a blast! Thanks to Scooby Snacks for the info on the way out. I am always impressed with how nice big lake fisherman are and how willing to share info everyone is! Tight lines, stay safe this holiday week!!
  3. Finally got a limit on my boat!! First time in 3 years of fishing the big lake. Been very close, just never did. Ended 21-23 in 190-220 straight out of Holland. 11am to 3pm. 100 down, anything blue. spoons to flies. Surprising hot lure was a gold thin fin on 5 and 7 color. Nothing on copper or full core. Anyway, just read all the other posts and you'll get dialed in. Everybody had it going on yesterday and the write much better posts than I!! Thanks to this site and many good friends, it's nice to say I have actually got a limit now. Now if I can only pull that together for a limit of kings this summer!! Tight lines!
  4. Walleye boards.. fish were 10-12 inches long!! Not much to pull on fish that small!!
  5. Was limited on time so we stuck to the beaches. 10-15 fow off the sliders. 1 nice 5 lbs brown and 4 shakers on the 6 rods when I pulled lines!! No wonder I wasn't catching anything but the seagulls attention!! More dang birds following my boat yesterday.. Thought they just saw my thin fins!! guess not! Fished from 12-1:30... Gold thin fin took the brown in 12 fow. Inside board. Everything else I had out took fish too. Only 10 inches long!! I guess at least I picked good colors!
  6. I've heard of BIG browns being caught around the bubbler. Personally, out of Holland I always go south this time of year. More habit than anything. Gold Coast is a great resource for PS. Guys in there fish a lot this time of year in smaller boats. They claim to do well.
  7. First trip out this year. Nice to make sure the boat still floats and starts!! Trolled body baits from the sliders down to Saug. channel. Picked up one brown in 12 fow, just north of Saugie. Ran in to 6 feet and out to 25. Only fish, but hey, I'm batting 1000 right now!! Nice to be out. Fish hit on a black and gold rapala 40-50 back off shore side board in 12 fow coming off the sandbar. Bait could have been still in 6-8 fow. hard to tell. Had minnows coming out his mouth!! Water temp ranged from 41 in Holland, down to 38 and then back up to 40. Nice having the dock in!! Tight lines all...
  8. Fished five to seven last yesterday. Started in 240 and fished out 260. Ended 4 for 8. Couldn't keep a steelie on to save my life!!!! 3 color ripped twice and 10 color rippes once. Missed one on a rigger too. Riggers parked at 60 and 80. Sliders hit on those Dipsey set on 2 back 200 took a laker on a white e chip with pickle sunshine fly 3 color picked up a coho hippy jp slammer Heard 230 was better than out deeper.
  9. Just already have enough of them in the freezer to smoke up!! Really wanted some chrome to eat up!! Getting low from the summer months!! Are the fish all mixed in now so I need to pick through them or any suggestions??
  10. Fished 4:30-7 last night. Fog was thick by the pier heads and got better as we ran out. Set up in 150. Found a nice slick out there in 160 to 190.. Nothing on a west troll... Made the turn and started crankin... East troll, 40 to 60 down was the key. TON of bait fish and marks in there. Ended 7 for 8. 4 lakers (returned) 3 kings. (2 were shakers) Fun night lots of action for a short time out there. Just wish we were fillin the coolers and not catch and release! Everything Blue went last night. 6 color sliders on riggers went parked at 80 full core dispsy set at 3 150 back Any tips on avoiding the greasers and getting some chrome would be appreciated!!
  11. so, now that the big run will be ending soon, I don't want to stop fishing. With that in mind, what is next?? Still find that 55 degree water and look for immature kings?? See the latest reports I am thinking 100 fow or more?? With fewer and fewer guys fishing with bow season coming up, I thought I would ask now before there are little or no reports. I won't winterized until late Nov. or Dec. Any advice would be great...
  12. Well, you don't get the mass quantity of fish, but still very good. With that though, you don't get the headache of Muskegon or GH either. Saugie is a 15 min boat ride from Holland too. That has the K-zoo river running too... Of course I live 2 miles from the Holland launch, so take it for what it's worth... I don't travel much to other ports with Holland in my back yard. Just my 2 cents..
  13. Dave, I have done well this year running MI Sunset JP slammer as well on 6 color core, but have REALLY done well running sliders on my riggers. I typically put something orange or a typical dolphin on a slider and have been impressed with the steelie action off of those. I just run a free slider. 6-8 feet of flouro with snap swivels. Attach one end to a lure, one to the downrigger rod's line and let her go. It will slide to where your line bows in the water. In theory half way between ball and surface. I am sure you'll get great advice from the guys here....
  14. Nice job Phil.. Were you down by Saugie?? How deep were you running? My buddy had little patience and wanted to pull lines earlier that I... Any colors work better??
  15. 80-86 FOW was best. flounder pounder and JP Slammer halo dolphin. Ended going 2-3 with a laker and a 8 pound king. Marked a TON of fish in that 80 foot range from Holland south past the sliders. Calm morning, but the wind is picking up. First fish came before sun up, then it was hit and miss after the sun came up. Pulled lines at 9:15.. Quick trip.
  16. Well, as Kevin mentioned, it was a rough one out there. 3rd times a charm I guess. Finally made it out on our 3 time and stuck with it in the 5 footers... I can't seem to keep a fish on lately... 1 for 5 today. Nice steelie in 45 fow... yep, on our way in, marked a TON of bait piles in 40-50 fow. Pulled him in on a glow fire dog jp slammer set on a slider, rigger at 35. Had 4 nice rips from 80-115. Couldn't keep them on. Blue bubble ripped back 150 set on 2 braided dipsy Hippy something JP slammer had a rip 150 back set on 2 braided dipsy glow frog on 300 copper ripped twice. last 2 times out I have been batting like Inge. Gonna get sent down to the minors if I keep this up!!
  17. Nice job Kevin, We went to breakfast after seeing you at the dock, then went out shortly after you did. Never saw you out there though... it was rough... Nice job on the fish!!
  18. I agree with Adam... cover all depths and cover as much ground as possible. Beer helps though...
  19. Nice Job Joe!! Great on the triple.... crazy when that happens. Good kind of crazy!
  20. Set lines in 50 last night. Had 50 degree water, 50 down out in 50 fow... Didn't get fish until 115 fow. Best depth was 115 to 127, top 40 feet. 6 color MI Sunset JP slammer was hot as well as glow frog on slider with rigger parked at 50 down. Mixed veggie went on full color as well. 3 lures out of the 10 I had our took fish... Ended going 3 for 8 and losing 300 ft of copper.... 2 kings and a laker. Couldn't keep fish on last night to save my life!! Just came unbuttoned. Beautiful night out there anyway. Flies were pretty bad too....
  21. Hey Chris.. Nice to see you on here. Are you going to Ludington this year camping too? We head up there this coming Sunday.

  22. Set up north in 50 fow. Stayed between 60-85 fow between Holland and Port Sheldon. Ended up 8-10. 6 steelies and 2 lakers (released) Lost a nice one when it straightened the swivel on a full core at daybreak. MI Sunset JP slammer on 6 color took a 10 pound steelie!! steelies taken on sliders on riggers parked at 40 and 45. Lemon Ice, green frog with 1/2 ice color, and Halo Blue Dolphin JP Slammer took fish.... Lakers hit blue dolphin on dipsy 80 back set on 2...and a blue dolphin on a rigger set at 45. Great morning on the water.... Set a boat record and recorded my first successful double!!
