  1. here is a thought. check the penny slots area in the little river casino, that is where most of the hollanders will hang out. you might be able to grab a seat on one of those gray hair express bus trips. or just dive into the luggage storage area after the driver puts away the wheel chairs... Boy I get very sarcastic this time of the year. Where is our soft water !!!
  2. don't forget your juice box and gummy bears:grin:
  3. I would say the GPS/Fishfinder combo. would not leave the dock without it.
  4. boat will come out end of March, need to replace bellow and shift cable, hope to hit water by second week in April.
  5. This is a great work instruction. my reels are brand new and only seen 5 uses last summer so I had not plan on tearing them down this far, but I might just have to try one this weekend for some thing to do.
  6. when I bought my convectors last year they came with a small bottle of oil. it appears to be a very light spindle type oil.
  7. You know it has been a long winter you find yourself just hangin in the garage taking pictures of your glow spoons waiting for the first morning fishing trip. anyway here is my before and after shots of what I plan to run on my first trip out. any suggestions from our humble group where I should put each in the spread? planning 1st trip out in early April weather permitting.
  8. Congrats, soon you will be fitting him for a life vest and very own dispy rod... take care
  9. Not sure about this product, but his presentation in the video reminded me of Rex Kwan Do. lets see how many of you can tie that name drop together....
  10. josh, that location is good, you will only be 5-10 mins from downtown depending on trafic. $54 a night is a very good rate. good luck at the show, I plan to go down on Thursday night. jon
  11. thank you for the support of WMFL, the 1st event will be here before we know.
  12. Name: Jon Marvin Age: 43 Residence Location: Dorr, MI Area(s) Most Often Fished: Port Sheldon, Holland, MI. Years of Experience: Salmon-3 Boat Size and Info: 1987 FourWinns 245 Vista Boat Name: N II DEEP Equipment: 2 older cannon digitrol II, home-made trees & several rod holders, (thinking about building a rocket launcher across the trees) Rods & Reels is a mix and match bunch. 4 - braided dispy rods 1 - wire dispy rod - in the making 2 full cores 2 half cores 3 SWR - 1.5, 2, 3 color lead 2 copper setups 4 rigger rods This will be my 3rd year of fishing Lk Michigan. Have had the boat for the past 15 years as a family cruiser. Went fishing with my buddy Ryan and I was hooked, I started buying used equipment off craigslist so I don't have alot $$ wrapped up. I enjoy doing the WMFL, it a good bunch of guys. the first time I fished the Port Sheldon aboard N II DEEP we took big fish and 1st place for that weekend with Ryan and Ken in the boat. Ryan"undertoe" and Ken "Nailer" have taught me alot and I enjoy fishing with them. Now that I am back in Michigan full time I plan to get out at least every weekend this summer. Spring is almost here 4 - 6 weeks and the boat will be out of storage.
  13. my 1st year I picked upa set of older cannon digitrol ii on craigslist at a good price. just keep looking, we still take 70% of all fish off dispys & boards so don't rush into the expense spend the money on good rod holders & trees
  14. Airport is way out of the way. just south of town 10-15 mins you can find rooms near 44th street. down town would the way to go for the show. as far as parking, if you have a taller truck you plan on bringing you won't fit into most of the ramps. my expedition rubs pipes in the city garage acrossed from the show. and the ht pipe at the enterence is just swinging after I go thru.....
  15. Ken - thanks alot for helping out yesterday - I look forward to the last drive back to Michigan. Feb 8th.... 6-8 weeks and we can pull the boats out. boy I look like a bum in that picture.
  16. Well after nine months of trying to make a go of it here in Ohio I decided to call it quits. Heading back to Michigan on Feb 8th. Start work back in Hudsonville on the 9th. now lets just get rid of the snow and get the boat out. I'm glad I didn't haul the boat down here. It will be really good to get back home and be with my family once again.
  17. Automotive Bolt sales are up
  18. Frank, I have trees and 6 church boards already so I'm set up that way. 4 dispys good that way. Ohio only allows 2 lines per person, 5 people on the boat is very crowded so I figure the max I will have out at one time will be 8 lines with 4 people in the boat. I just hope I enjoy this as much as big Fish.
  19. bad luck 2 years in a roll that really stinks. well to help your cause bring me three of the new colors to the church in february I plan on being home that weekend
  20. Ok, went to cleveland boat show over the weekend to listen the the lake Erie experts. learned some good pointers on gear, different types of setups. biggest thing I see, they guys that talked all have little boats with elec. trolling motors. unless I'm in deep water how am I going to sneak up on these fish without spook'in them off. Frank - I sure you will have a few pointers as I seen pic's of your boat, my is very simliar in size. I just want to be ready for spring. I will be docked in Vermilion, OH - every one says that a prime area for summer. they also said early spring, late fall right in front of the pier plan on steelhead time. now that I can get into. until I hook into a few of them eyes I'll hold my opinion about this type of fishing, worst thing that could happen is I hall the boat back to Michigan and leave it there for to just fish like I did last summer. (I really miss Lake Michigan) another question. when running dipsy's will the eye's still make that reel scream? I sure it won't sound like a king, but hearing a diver go off was the best part of a lake Michigan fish trip. if any one can point me to any local Ohio forums to check that would be great.
  21. was @ cleveland boat show yesterday talked with raymarine dealer because he had x-5 displayed in the booth. he said an updated version is to be rolled out later this year at miami show. price is going to jump to $1800+
  22. I had the same problem with the darker colors on my 87 Fourwinns, I tried a few different off the shelf products with limited results always after a few short weeks the haze would be back. ended up having the whole boat repainted with Duponts Imron. it now has an automotive type finish and I only wax once a year, and wash / rinse it down every couple of weeks with a hose. very low maint. has held up very well as it was done over the 2004-2005 winter. this also let me change the entire color plan from white bottom, black side, dark grey rail stripe and lt. grey top to a entire white boat with a simple dark grey stripe. down side was the cost, it was very labor intensive, to hand sand out. just short of 5K to do the entire boat, but it still looks like new after 6 years. still cheaper than a new boat.
  23. I picked up a set of old Digitrol II off the craigslist Grand Rapids site. yes they sit high, not a big fan of the plastic, I hope the mylar touch panel never goes out. they are slow, but for what I paid they work great. only issue I had was an un-marked indian net out of Hessle two summers ago. they did have no problem pulling up 15# just slow, did I say they were slow... the nice thing they do have is the auto up function, so as soon as you start to fight a fish - just hit the button and the weight comes up to a pre-programmed stop point which I have set to 2' below the water, this way if we are out in rough seas the weights are not bangin on the side of the boat.
  24. nice work, I wish I was back home more often this fall
