  1. Ok cool thanks for the input, that deer had a better story to go along with it too haha, and thank you!
  2. Hey this is a cool thread, good idea Phishy! Here are my 2 best bucks, I still cant decide which ones better. The first one is a 11 point with a double drop with one drop tine broken off about an inch and a half from the main beam. I am an absolute nut for droptines! The second is a 14pt, with a very wide, dark, and palmated rack with a lot of mass. Still am contemplating which one is bigger haha, what do you guys think?
  3. My favorite is probably a black teardrop jig with a glow back and a red dot with wax worms. This year I am very interested in experimenting with the plastics. However some of the biggest gills I have caught through the ice have been on minnows while fishing for crappie.
  4. Sweet! GJ Matt. Sorry to hear about that Peter...this September during the youth hunt I hit a nice buck and knew it was a good hit. He jumped and kicked and then ran off and almost tipped over; his head was barely dragging above ground. We gave it a half hour and got a 6 person search party to go look for him (knowing it was a big deer). We looked for at least an hour without finding any blood at all. I was heartbroken and me and my dad had no idea what happened. I decided to go for a short walk in the swamp while my dad was talking to his friend and ended up stumbling across the buck piled up with a bullet hole through his neck but not a single drop of blood. I couldnt of thanked God enough.
  5. Good luck to everyone tomorrow and most of all please be safe! Good luck, Justin
  6. Theres already one out there;) http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0057187418154a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=trail+camera&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 I plan to get a new trail camera with some Christmas money over the winter.
  7. We have had the straps cut off tree stands before and that is not good. We always check before we go up to make sure everything is safe. It is a good thing you know where your stand is at least. Good luck this year!!
  8. Thank you everyone for the advice. I am still debating it, but I think I am going to try a pack and see how they work. Thanks Justin
  9. I just found this video on their website and thought I would share what a rage broad head can do. I think I am going to go get a pack tonight. http://www.ragebroadheads.com/uncensored/UncensoredFootage.aspx
  10. Thanks Matt, good luck to you to. Its gonna be a little while before I get to go out because I dislocated my knee last night. Even tho I already got a beautiful deer this year, I still love being out there. Good luck tomorrow, hopefully you wack a big one!
  11. Thank you, and yes that is a H&R/NEF slug gun. It was originally a turkey gun then we sent it in and got a slug barrel put on it for 80$. It is a 12 ga barrel bored down to a 20 and is a tack driver! I can hit the same bullet hole at 100 yards with it:no: Also Lightfield slugs are the best for this gun.
  12. Thank you to everyone! I am so excited haha!!
  13. Thanks! Yep, the brow tine is split. There are also two stickers on the left beam that you cant really see.
  14. Alright guys I will start things off this year. Here he is.
  15. Thanks guys! Yes, I will be getting him mounted!
  16. I was lucky enough to bag a huge buck this morning. It was taken in Paw Paw, Michigan at 9:30 am with a 20 ga. It is a 14 pointer.
  17. Thanks Jarod, its been a fun year and has been cool to talk to you and share info. Hopefully I will have some luck again this year during deer season. Good luck to you too! Justin
  18. Yes we did get a pic but it was on my uncles camera. When he sends it to me I will post.
  19. Headed out to South Haven again this weekend with a little luck. Took one coho first thing in 80 fow 43 down on the Downrigger with a killer dolphin spoon. We missed a fish on the Braided Dipsy140 back set on 2 in 85 fow. Had 2 hits on the full core with a killer dolphin, one being a big steelhead. It was the biggest and prettiest steely we have ever boated! Had one more rip on the half core with a red head j plug. Everything started off fast and furious with most of our hits coming in the first hour. 80 fow was the best and the killer dolphin was hot! Next weekend is the youth deer hunt so unless I get a deer Saturday we wont be out for another couple of weeks. Good luck out there.
  20. Thanks for the advice Adam! This winter I think I am going to try making crawler harnesses and that kind of stuff.
  21. Thanks guys! Yeah I was so happy. That night I think I stayed up close to 1 tying different colors of flies for the next mornings trip!
  22. Saturday- Fished from 70 feet all the way out to 145. In 100 fow a steelhead took a rip at the double orange crush on the two color and after a few jumps he said goodbye. Then in 140 fow I was sitting on the bow watching a butterfly try to land on the inside planer board (full core) and all of the sudden i see the board go straight back and the rod ripping line. My grandpa was along for the ride so we gladly handed the rod to him. It ended up being about a 15 lb female that hit a killer dolphin and afterwords he kept talking about how hard it was to reel it in and how sore his elbow was:lol: Our only other hit was in 130 fow on the downrigger 88 down. This setup was the one that had a blue bubble fly I tied with a blue spinnie and it was an 8lb king! I was thrilled to finally catch a fish on my own fly regardless on how many fish we caught that day:D Sunday- We setup to the south and continued moving south til it was time to pull the lines. Took a laker on full core with killer dolphin in 100 fow and another lake trout on a green fly I tied behind a 11 inch UV protroll. Got one steelhead in 105 fow on half core with red head j-plug this fish was about 8 lbs. Had one other steelhead hit the braided dipsy set on 2 175 back with a killer dolphin; this was a 12lb dandy:no: Our only other fish was a small coho on the same setup the bigger steelhead hit in 110 fow. We also had a small yellow bird come flying down and land on me. He stayed on the boat for close to 2 hours and just flew around eating bugs! Ended the day 5 for 5. Also both days we marked big schools of fish down on the bottom and couldn't get any hits from them:confused:
  23. Great job on the fish! We had the same type of bird on our boat Sunday and he stayed with us for close to 2 hours. He would just fly around and eat all the flies. He even landed on me a time or two lol.
