  1. A few of our guys got all new cold waters in spring and they were ALL junk by the end of may............from coho fishing. I'm sure they figured it out, but I won't be going anywhere near them until I'm sure that they aren't the first run.
  2. We had a boat with them on it................they were beyond dim and useless and way overpriced. I have a pair of halogen Jabsco's because they were already on there and they are fine, but as soon as one burns out I'm changing them out for a pair of coastals that I have.
  3. You have to take the reel apart to get the new guides in, but it's not a bad job and goes quick
  4. I run 2, and since riggers are our least effective presentation, I won't be adding any any time soon. Used to have 3, on it for that matter.
  5. Mine are on 700's with 65 lb backing and it's usually one of my outside boards (10 color). Not even close to running out of backing even with a big screamer on it. Gear ratios are both 4.2:1 so there's no gain there, the 800 is just a wider spool, not bigger diameter so there's no gain on an 800 from a reel torque or speed perspective. That being said- we run coppers on either Convector 55's and Tekota 800's
  6. If you aren't able to get anti freeze out the hub then your thermostat isn't open I don't think. Need to run it up to temp then start the anti freeze. Make sure you fill the gear oil from the bottom up
  7. We send ours out annually at the shop for calibration and inspection. Might be worth a look
  8. Good to get a guy started but we still fish riggers down past 100, and if I'm fishing that deep, I don't have anything else near it so I say stretch it out and add stealth to it- plus I don't want anything that isn't at least 50' down more than 50' back ie nothing 30' down with 70' stretch..........way too much potential for tangles with 10 oz or long wire divers.
  9. Usually 50' for me. Sometimes as far as 100'. Flashers are like 40'.
  10. Hydraulic steering is great, but I've seen some pretty darn good sport pilots when they're swung and adjusted properly.
  11. Will a tx22 pull copper? I'd be happy to talk to you about fishing anytime and help if I can.
  12. Clean with no flasher.......Flies with 8" flashers.......21" lead for me works best.
  13. Ive seen plenty of trailered boats rotting faster than boats in a slip.............beware of that.
  14. Sportcraft and Baha were known for junk stringers. I vote for a survey on any boat you're thinking about
  15. Mono is cheap- plus it's a good reason to mess with reels in the winter. Braid every few years
  16. Gamakatsu hooks will do some damage right out of the package, can't say that about many spoon manufacturers. I usually put a replacement on immediately.
  17. I had a rigger blow up this year and I swapped a telescopic boom for a fixed because I dont' Just one Philips screw and a little twisting and it went fine. But mine are the mag hs's that are a few years old
  18. Yeah, I could take or leave the wire but still would run two per side both with braid
  19. I run my deep divers with wire and a mag with ring set on 1.5 in the farther aft and lower angled holder. High is the standard size with the ring set on 3 in a forward holder one click up from the deep diver.
  20. Have had at least 25 fish over 20 lbs this year so far................had 4 bites one day on the same 10 oz bait and some were dinks............and then one went 29 lbs. I'd rather have 10 fish that are 10 lbs than 5 20's unless its tourney day.
  21. 7' medium 1 pc talora's. Love them.
  22. Why dont you want them to release? I have all my boards set to release and fish them daily that way. Never would want it any other way.
  23. start with the Blue Diamond rollers in 9' then save up for Taloras with swivel tips
  24. I run 9' Talora rollers inside and 8 1/2' talora for high dipsy. Sounds like it wouldnt work but with a mag dipsy inside they line up perfectly
