  1. The problem with the rod holders is how they mount. The stud goes through the ball cradle. It won't fit in the track without mounting to a plate with a riser that I can see. Here is a couple of pics to give you and idea. Pics aren't the greatest as its raining out. Sucks I don't have my cover on the boat either:mad: http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q23/vitalidle/004.jpg"] http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q23/vitalidle/003-1.jpg"]
  2. Not the cheapest route, but traxstech sells a 3 inch riser that fits the track and is 4"x4" to fit the ball cradle and you could mount your rod holders to the cradle. I bought the 6" track with the rail mount and 3inch riser for one of my down riggers, so it will work for you if you want to go that way. I will take a pic for you tonight and post it up for you.
  3. Thanks Peter! It's a small world especially with the internet eh!
  4. Anyone have any feedback on the Raymarine Ray-54 Radio? Thanks.
  5. Dan welcome to Great Lakes Fisherman! Hope you get out salmon fishing soon:D
  6. This is a sunset. Second trip of the season. I hope to see the sunset on the water tonight! Munising Bay Sunset:D http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q23/vitalidle/010.jpg"]
  7. I will have to take a look at the Icom's as well then.
  8. Those are all good questions. I am in need of a new radio as well. I have a handheld for my smaller boat that Im using in the meantime. I can't really answer your questions as far as all the extras they have on radios now. I have a uniden with the dsc. I never was hooked up so I can't tell you how it works. I do know that bethel marine has raymarine radios for 90 bucks and that is probobly the radio I will go with. I think any brand name radio today will have all the new features that you could want. Look for the best price in a brand name radio would be my advice.
  9. I will bite. I guess everyone needs to respond however they choose. I guess I never have made my choices with litigation as a factor in my decision to respond. Obviously if you don't have the right equipment ie tow rope for the tow you shouldn't make matters worse by attempting one. The flip side of doing nothing is you have to sleep at night with your decsion and no litigation will sway my decision to respond if someone needs help. I think you did the right thing by staying with the stranded party until help arrived. In the end what matters is everyone made it home safe and we all can feel good about that:D
  10. I also have the 7 strand on a regular eagle claw starfire rod with ceramic eyes. I wanted to see if a regular rod will hold up. Will give you all more feedback as I truely test the rod down in fairport this year.
  11. What a night of hockey:D
  12. Mike is there a chance you could put this on the homepage? Might get more traffic? Just a thought. Good luck everyone! Thats great cuz that you are going the extra mile to promote Big Jon and give this out to a lucky member! Cudos to Big Jon and the Hall Kid:p
  13. Happy Birthday! I think I could do 16 again!lol
  14. I agree don't take a chance of hydrolocking your motor. Water is heavier then oil and Im sure it pulls from the bottom of the reservior. If you have any in the tank you will have issues more then likely.
  15. I missed it dog gone it! I thought you said 2 weeks hallmeister? Oh well get me the dvd when you get it:D
  16. Ouch was wondering why you were in a different boat. I did see you land that killer coho in front of the launch:p
  17. I am running the 7 strand on regular ceramic eye rods without twilli tip. I have seen a few people say they have 3 summers on this setup without any issues. I have had 2 fish on and 1 nice one so far without any wear. I will keep you all posted as to how I make out. By the way the rods are 25 dollar eagle claw starfire rods.
  18. Good Job Tyler! The last time I was in need of help I was stuck in bird season. It was a long way out and thank god the bear hunters were in the woods. One of them gave me a tug and I offered him some money for his troubles. His response was no trouble at all I may need the same thing in the future. I will always remember that great gesture! Pay it forward as they say!
  19. Im a little late, but I will second your post Frank! Thank god for our troops, and their sacrifices:D
  20. It was a tough day in Munising Bay for everyone.....myself included. We never did net a fish:( We had a great time....and I got some time on my equipment. Maybe this week comming up will provide us better catching.
  21. I haven't used the torpedo weights, but I just bought ridgeback rattlers and I really like them. They are pricey, but they are worth it to me. I will have to get a pick of the weights and how they show up on the fishfinder.
