  1. Well the Supertramp is on a different boat now, my buddy and I traded my boat and cash for a 24' John Allmand Cuddy boat. Fished So.Haven today and we had a good morning. Set up in 85 FOW and started working south. First fish came before we got the lines set, and a new guy with us farmered it right off I came on 300' of copper and mag blue dolphin Dreamweaver. We ended up going 12 for 20 and had a lot of action on the riggers set at 85 and 75 with fixed sliders up 10 the sliders were hot with a purple and black Fuzzy Bear being the hot bait. Took 7 kings and 5 lakers 3 were released, they were short fish. The bigger lakers both were full of spawn. Kings were 2 and 3 year old fish all full of Alewives. We ended the day in 175 FOW and took the last 2 fish down 85 on a Bumble Bee Fuzzy Bear. No action on either of the fly flasher combo we tried. Did have 2 fish off the power pro dipsy rigs out 220 and 250. No pics but will get some next time out probably tomorrow and then pull the boat out mid week.
  2. Great job Andy thanks for the info will be out on Sunday weather permitting. Mike
  3. Unfortunately it was the standard turn up 45# Sampo I have never had one straigten out when it was locked in but this fish must have twisted it just right to straighten it out and ruin a very good snap swivel. I think that the cross lock swivels might have held up but they run differently and don't give the same action to the spoons. PS Mike can u send me the method to post my pics on my reports again, I did post them in the gallery but lost the e mail with the posting directions. Thanks Mike Supertramp
  4. Went out of So Haven on the Rusty B this morning, set lines in 80 FOW and started a NW troll first hit was on Rigger 80 dn on a fixed slider up 10' fm the ball on a tequila Sunrise spoon, lost it befor we got it to the boat. Next was 3# King on the same rigger on the same set up, lost 2 more fish on sliders befor we boated the next one, then took a rip on a bumble bee Pro King on a wire dipsy on 2.5 out 180' a nice 6# Steelhead we had 2 more 2 year old kings come on the fixed slider 10' above the ball at 80' all of the fish came on the NW and NE troll we turned around in 185 FOW and came across a scum line In 165 FOW the other wire Dipsy with Nuclear Veggie went off out 225' nice Lake Trout. We pecked away and ended up 11 for 16 lost a Large King that got wrapped on the Rigger it straightened out a 45# Sampo Swivel when it rolled on the line 30' back of the boat would have been the biggest fish of the trip. Everything came on spoons Green with red or orange and the Tequila Sunrise was the hot deal off of the rigger. A great morning on the water. Mike Supertramp
  5. Got on the water at about 4:30PM for a quick afternoon trip on the Supertramp, and we could have stayed home and had as much action. Set up in about 45 FOW on the edge of the mud, surface temp was 65 degrees and we were marking fish from 20 to 35' down, stayed there for a while and no takers, trolled out to 105' and had a rip on power pro dipsey set on 3 out 180, and couldn't keep it buttoned. Then had a hit on rigger down 54 and it was gone befor we could get the rod out of the holder. No more action and pulled up and headed in to the pier heads and re set and made 2 passes there then called it quits at 8:45PM. Saw 1 stovepipe colored Coho taken off the south pier and that was all the action. A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. Mike SUPERTRAMP
  6. The 47LC is only rated for 280 yards of 20lb Mono, to get 300' of copper plus backing and leader u might be better off getting a 57LC it is rated for 550 yards of 20# Mono and should hold 150 yards of backing plus the copper and leader possibly more backer than that if you go to 30# power pro for the backer.
  7. Great place to fish and the only drawback is the nets. Glad to hear u got the program working. 478 is not that far out up there it drops fm 60' staight off to over 300' on the shelf and 478 is out in the shipping channel less than 7 miles out. In the 1980's we fished that area a lot for Steel head on the trash lines that form on the temp breaks.
  8. Way to go finding the Steel Andy,we kinda just hung around and got the 3 kings but had the steel covered with the 4 color and 5 color but no takers. Funny I gotta believe that the Kings are gonna stage big time and Saturday was the first time since early July that I have marked any numbers of fish just hope they start to feed. Mike(Supertramp)
  9. Hit the pier heads at 5:30 ran NW to 75 FOW and set up with 2 riggers set at 10 off bottom with A 1 color SWR with a white SD and blue bubble fly. the other at 60' with a moonglow NBK. Power pro dipsy set on 2 out 240 with a Lemon Ice mag stinger and a full core with #4 green glow ladderback J-Plug, a 5 color with and extra 2 ounce weight with NBK DW spoon, and a Power pro dipsy set on 3 out 270. First fish was in 102 FOW on the Lemon Ice Power Pro Dipsy out 240. Stayed in that area and finished 3 for 4 all on the same Dipsy Lemon Ice mag stinger out 240. Marked a lot of fish in the 60 to 80 ft range but all had lock jaw. Looks like it is only going to get better from here out.
  10. WTG Andy, Was out Thursday evening lake was flat and the fish were uncooperative hope that we can do as well as you did on our next trip. We did mark some fish (not many) in 105FOW and on the way in at about 10:00 PM we marked some fish in about 85 FOW but we didn't get the skunk off of the boat that night. Mike
  11. Good job Andy hope to get out in the PM Wednesday, will let everyone know how it is after the blow. Mike(SUPERTRAMP)
  12. The downrigger question is relative to the boat (size and the expense you can comfortably incur). If you are in a small boat 16 to 20 ft u only need at the most 2 and if you are cash strapped u can get a lot of different manuals on ebay. My 15 footer has 2 Penn downriggers with 4' arms and is very fishable and catches fish. If you have a larger boat anywhere from 3 to 5 downriggers can be run but it can get hairy with the dipsy rods, lead core and the other methods including wire line dipsys, and copper line. I run 4color 6 color and 10 color lead core, be sure to get 36 or 45# lead core, and I run 2 power pro dipsy rods. In all on a 15' boat I can run as many as 8 rods and keep the set up from tangling until a big King runs across the back of the boat. That can make a mess on any boat. Check out some of the rigs in the gallery section. There are some good tips on Lead core and copper line rigs in the forums too. But Like the 1 Maniac we caught fish with pink ladies and 1# lead balls on mono in the old days. Good Luck and let the guys know what you come up with. Mike the (Supertramp)
  13. Good job Terry. Thanks for showing the flasher and fly combo.
  14. Set up in 85FOW straight out fm the pierheads, trolled out to 130, turned south and immediately had a hit on 6 color lemon ice stinger, King about 3lbs was a bad bleeder so it went in the box,we worked back in to about 118', and the same 6 color went nice steelhead about 8lbs fish was 30" and had all of its fins. Hunted around for another hour and downrigger set at 67' with a lemon Ice freeslider went on the freeslider another steelie the twin to the first one. Pulled lines at 10:00 ran in to the perch pack and fished for perch for about 2 hours kinda slow, but a lot of fish in there the water had cooled off overnight from 73 degrees to 66 degrees. Got 5 average perch and had to be right on the bite they were hitting very softly. Talked to some people at the cleaning station and they caught 60 in 15FOW, we stopped short in 21 FOW. Still a beautiful day on the water. The Lil tramp did it again. Mike:)
  15. Way to go. About time the big fish started to turn on again. Mike Supertramp
  16. Ditto on the no comment after seeing steelie freaks avatar. Those definitely got heavy.
  17. My fishing partner was a no show this AM, Talked to the Bald Eagle at 1:30 they got 2 fish in 100FOW, 1 on full core and 1 down 65 on the riggers both on spoons and both befor the sun was very high. There are perch being taken in 25 FOW down south off of the dunes. But u have to search to find them then stay on the school. Think will try to find a partner for Saturday AM perch trip.
  18. I fish out of a MirroCraft 15' aluminum and on calm days I go out with the big boys, but for early spring coho and browns, and fall combat fishing it is a great boat. It works well on the river for steelhead and also for walleye anywhere. I have 2 Penn Long arm downriggers on the boat and a total of 8 rod holders can fish 2 riggers 4 to 6 planerboards with leadcore or copper and 2 dipsy rods. It is a 2 man rig only but we catch fish. Will post pics of the boat in the Gallery. As a note I use a GPS for trolling speed, I have a handheld Marine radio and a good quality LCD Graph. The Boat is a console steer and has a 30hp Johnson motor. I can run out to 100' troll for 6 hours and only use about 5 gallons of gas.
  19. Will be fishing out of S.Haven Friday AM hope to have some info for everyone for the weekend by mid day. My radio is on Channel 10 most of the time so give the Supertramp a bump and we can try to find the fish. Will be switching to perch about noon. By all reports from my buddy at Riverbend boat club all the action is south in 100 to 180 FOW top 50 feet 5 color 2 color and 35 to 45 down on the riggers with free sliders taking a lot of hits. Good luck to all 2 UnReal if u are out give me a call cell 929 4221 or channel 10 on the radio. Supertramp Mike
  20. Thanks Mike I tried and failed I must be just plain slow but I start my thread , after I finish I go to the galleries and lt. click on the bb code and drag across then I rt click and copy the bb code then rt click and paste but it doesn't go to my thread. I need some more instruction I guess but thanks a lot for posting the pics for me. Mike (Supertramp)
  21. Nice catch, will be out in my 15' Mirro Craft later this week hope the fish are still cooperating. Nice job for the small boat guys.
  22. My friend Mike Corder took me to a family farm and we fished for bluegills, caught 48 average about 10" best bluegill fishing I have ever had they are bedding and the males were super aggressive used a piece of crawler on a plain red hook no weight behind a torpedo bobber and between 7:30 and 10:30 we had a ball. We didn't sort much, but threw back about 10 females that were in the 6 to 7 inch range. Once again couldn't figure out how to post the pics here but there are in the Non Salmon trout gallery. Check it out. Mike (Supertramp)
