  1. Dave,

Don't spend a house payment on it, find a crew of at least 3 and split the costs. I wouldn't do this if we weren't sharing costs.

Evan sharing costs is still a lot and trying to find people to fish let alone enter a tourney and pay even more to fish is hard enough some times.

  2. Well, as some of you have seen on other posts I've had on here, my boat was crushed when my barn collapsed. I'm trying to get a replacement as quickly as possible, but I also want the right boat, which is worth waiting for. If anyone knows of any good walkarounds for sale in the 24ft to 28ft range under $25k, let me know.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I know of a rigged 25 ft cherokee hardtop rigged for 12500 k just reduced. with trailer. http://www.johnsonssupreme.net/1986_Cherokee_Brave_Ludington_MI_224848002.veh

I have fished on this boat since i was about 16 years old. It is in very good shape.

  3. Thats one of the reasons we havent been doing tourneys. By the time team members take off work, drive to where the tourney is at, slip the boat so it is easier in the morning, it costs a fortune. If it is out of the area camping fees. Will i fish any i might if they are close to home. but every year we look at the output of cash and i can think of a lot of ways to spend that much money.

  4. I wonder if the new one will interface with my Lowrance plotter without the convertor. I was bummed to find out one of the reasons I bought it would not work with my current setup. Esp after NEMA was touted as the universal answer so all marine gear could talk under the same language. The when you actually try and do it you need to spend way more money.

What gps do you have? from the new seatalk to the nema 2000 all you need is a 25 dollar cable that has the nema 2000 male or female end depending on unit and the white seatalk 2 end on the other end. for the hds unit it is the female one

  5. I have a puller at the shop Aaron, let me know when your ready and I get it out to you. that was the hardest part when I installed mine last fall.

Jim - I think the gear box is the same on the new units.

Thanks Jon. It is supposed to start hitting the 30s by Thursday hopefully warmer weather is in the near future

  6. If you need a hand putting it in call me I would like to see how much it changed from mine. The only thing I don't like about mine is the motor noise which on rough days is almost non stop.

I'll let ya know. at this rate it may be in may before the snow and ice is gone. they completely changed the wiring to the new ray marine sea talk 2 that converts to nmea 2000 without a convertor. it is all bayonet lock connectors now. you have to get a spur cable to connect it to your gps that hooks directly to the ray marine backbone from the nema 2000 connector on the back of the gps. They also did away with the flux gate compass and went to a new sensor that can be mounted anywhere even upside down, as long as the arrow point forward. Jim do you have a steering wheel puller?

  7. Well I've been saying for three years I wanted an autopilot and pulled the trigger and ordered the new ray marine ev 200 sport pilot Got it for 1750 with three day shipping (it was only 2 bucks more than regular shipping)from Hodges marine. Thanks for the recommendation Joel Reiser.

  8. Aaron - it looks like the link was getting picked up by the built in spam filter. This is fine except that we don't want it to block out long time members from making posts. I've adjusted this setting so that members who have more than 5 posts will not be checked against this filter. Looks like adjusting that setting fixed your issue.

I'm going to leave this post up for one day and then delete it and consider the issue solved.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. Have a good weekend guys :thumb:

    Kind regards,

    Chad

Thanks for you prompt attention to this. Have a great weekend

  9. I have a huminbird 957C, similar to the sportpilot I got it when they were discontinuing them and went to the side imaging and down imaging models.

We have our first baby arriving in 7 weeks so I was pushing it as it was budget wise to sneak in the spx

Oh ok some units you have to turn on the nema2000 that is whay i was wondering.

Congrats on the Baby. It will change your life for the better. We have two the second was born last summer so i know how money is at that point in time and trying to squeeze in buying stuff.

  10. I was thinking about doing the same, until I realized that the evolution doesn't have nmea0183 inputs so I would have to buy the $200 converter to nmea2000. According to west marine they aren't expecting the evolutions for 3-5 months yet. Raymarine hasn't shipped any production units yet.

OH ok. I have an hds and it has both the 0183 and 2000. What gps do you have that it only has the 0183.

  11. The currents were so strong last year, the same throttle speed, different direction was making a huge difference. Knowing the direction of the current and your speed at the lure was huge. We woulda had lures hanging at times without it!

This is one of the biggest advantages of having it is keeping your down speed the same on all directions of troll. Temp is important but not as important as the down speed.
