  1. Well someone was looking out for me. come to find out it was the zink ring behind the prop. the bolts came loose and the dragging thunking was the bolt hitting the inside the prop. It snapped on bolt head off and buggered up the threads but Johnsons was able to tap the holes again and put new bolts in lock tited them and test ran it this morning. Headed up in an hour to pick it up and back to Erie saturday morning.

  2. ill be fishing salmon in algoma or kewaunee. ill be pulling 27# leadcore with 50# powerpro backer with a piece of 30# mono for connecting the release; thanks to all of you for the info on the line setup.lures i have are spoons, flasher/fly combos and j plugs.its my first time with my own boat so trying to learn. ive been out a fair amount with others in the past 30 yrs, mostly charters, but have never seen anyone run planer mast.

I like the offshore releases but i mainly use my mast system for walleye fishing. when i fish salmo i go to inline boards. If i were to use my mast system i have a bunch of the orange offshore heavy tension planer releases that i would use. i dont think the black have the holding strength for the heavy lines.

  3. this past weekend was a bummer Saturday we ended up not going Dad got sick and brother bailed last minute. sunday we trolled all day for one fish. we used cranks and spoons. the guys that did good were using crawlers and harness. water was 57 and we tried imitation crawlers but no go. needed to have meat I guess. also wasn't going slow enough guys that did good were doing .8 to 1 my slowest is 1.7. On the plus with the waves on sunday we gave the auto pilot a good work out and man that thing is awesome. In the slop we were trolling a nice straight line. Wish I hadn't waited so long to get it. Next weekend we pull the boat and get it to the Volvo shop so no fishing this coming weekend. What a waste of a three day weekend.

  4. I have a Volvo penta aq 225e outdrive. Today running in after fishing all day right at the channel the boat made a dragging type sound (we were in deep enough water 12 ft) then it started making a thunk sound. as I slowed down it was slower speed up and the tempo increased. put it in neutral and then reverse no thunk sound even when I goosed it in reverse. You could also feel the thunk in the back of the boat. when I was at the slowest idle (500 rpm) and in gear it wasn't noticeable. as soon as I went from 500 to 800 rpms it would start again. Anyone have any ideas?

  5. Well we got rained out saturday and the wind came up something fierce so we decided to try sunday. Drove from my parents down to monroe and it was quite windy by the time we got the boat in the water and out into the bay we had to throw the lures at the water to make them stick needless to say we didnt fish long and headed to the marina. I did test out my new EV sport pilot. and it is totally awesoms. setup took 5 minutes as all you have to do with the new unit is the dockside thing. no going in circles to get the compass calibrated and doing the auto learn. Put in a waypoint hit track and with the rough water and wind it kept us right on track even in the slop. Very impressed with it.

  6. I am on the river the rest of the week. I go back to work for a couple weeks( just fish weekends) Then I will be down to the Lake Memorial day until the weekend after ( staying at Sterling)

ok sounds good you'll have to let me know what site your on we are going to be down there. Not sure if we are going to camp or run back and forth from my parents house. I was going to put my boat in today but the weather was crappy. Going down tomorrow morning to get it into the slip.
