Aaron, Get one and change your name to Bubba. They do look nice.
LOL frank. I think I am going to pick one up I get a couple gift cards for bass pro to use.

is yours the flex or stiff blade
-
I don't have one but a good friend does and really likes it. I did use it to clean some salmon when we were fishing this past summer and it worked well. I liked the handle better than a Forshner cimiter I have. The blade made short work of going through the rib bones when taking the filet off. Cleaned half dozen low to mid teen Kings and Steelies and cut as well on the last as the first.
Ryan was the knife you used the stiff or flex blade?

Hi Aaron
I checked reviews on them and most said customer service sucked and the edge was bad.
I really like the handle on them but I saw some of the same type reviews so I figured I would see if any one here had any personal experience with them

Does anyone have the bubba blade filet knife. If so how does it compare to the forschners as far as holding an edge.

I have a Lowrance LCX-28C-HD
I am replacing the transducer as I think the existing one is weak.
I can purchase either a 83 / 200 or a 50 /200. These are the same transducers on the current HDS units
Any recommendations?
I agree with going with the 50/200. Lower freq is better for fresh water opposite for salt. the 50 will penetrate with less distortion then the higher frequencies.

For big weenies I use the entire length tie a loop in the end and good to go

Thanks for the reply. I'll check out those releases.
Here is the number for lauvrick

Rubber bands make a MESS of your boat and they melt and stick to everything. I use 12 lb tst mono for walleye. Just use a good quality release and you wont have to use rubber bands. For eyes I use the yellow offshores and the lauvricks. If you call lauvrick direct they sell a bulk pack of 50 for like 65 bucks. They pull the mini discs and jet 20s fine when I am running jet 40s I use the yellow offshores. To use the offshores for smaller divers only put the line in half way for 40s put in in about 3/4 of the way

Never mind father in law bought one so i am good to go.

Does anyone have a chronograph i could borrow for a day in the greater grand rapids holland area. I am working up loads for evans rifle and need to make sure i am above 1800 fps while reducing recoil as much as possible.

Take a look at sharkshttp://www.sharkcannonballs.com/superstore.html

I wouldn't use magdas for wire. I would go to at least convector 30s. The magdas wont hold up to divers especially if you want to run mag divers

We use a lot of dodgers and spin n glos or squids when we target laker. I like my speed about 1.5 mph. and i agree with what rascal said. get your stuff just ticking the bottom.

Nice rig Jon

Thanks for the picture. The boat I am looking at has a walk thru transom. I was hoping for ideas that don't include a board. Although I am not entirely against it.
You can mount the riggers right to the versaball mounts I wanted the board set up.
-
here is the way I did mine on my Cierra. I am trying to remember the name of the bases I used. they are a ball type mount and narrow enough for the narrow back of the boat.
Versa ball mounts. franks great outdoors has them.

Aaron, You are a good father. Keeping kids hooked on fishing will pay dividends I'm sure. GJ on the Erie fish. How's your dad doing? It was a pleasure meeting the two of you last Fall.
Dad is doing really well we'll have to trade trips this summer. We would love to come up and fish with you. I might have to drag Evan along.

Welcome aboard. If you want to learn do some ride alongs there is usually someone looking for people to fish.

Saturday we got out a little late due to having to get the boat back in the water and all set up again. we headed out to a spot in the bay that produced good fish before in 18 ft of water before we had the third rod in the water we had our first eye in the box. reset that line and before i got the rod in the holder second fish on another walleye. then nothing for hours we tried fast slow high low spoons harnesses you name it. finally four hours later in front of stoney point we hooked one more. then as we were pulling lines we picked up our last fish for the day. ending with only four fish. Threw back about 50 silver bass. Evan my 6 year old made it the whole time out there but he didnt want to reel in fish.
Sunday went out in front of fermy 24 ft hooked the first fish and Evan wanted to reel it in Walleye. his first one that he caught. then same thing nothing till just about time to pull lines and we hooked a second walleye. Lots of silvers again. Talked to a couple guys that cam in with limits and they were pulling cranks. We pulled spoons and crawler harnesses again. Also heard that the fishing was great out by the island so we stopped and got our OH licenses. Here is a pic of evans first walleye:
