I do (although most days I don't consider myself stupid), but some don't own them. I agree though, if that is a wreck, it should be better marked than a small detergent bottle.

Wow, I'm surprised I didn't hear about it up here. Was he on a charter/private? Boat name? Would love to track down the info on it, beacuse that's a pig!! I have been pulling low 20 pound fish consistantly here for some time now, and was just saying to my buddy the other night that there will be some 30#s taken out of this port this year. Took a 24# tonight using a big one w/fly on wire. Works just fine. Chris

Sometimes when the fish get finicky around here I will put out some big Rapala husky jerks, and thay will be the only thing they bite. The problem is after a few hits your lure is shredded. As you know a big king is a whole different animal than a pike or walleye, or even a coho or brown. I have a feeling that would be the same problem you would run into with a Thinfin, or Thinfish. I'm sure you would catch fish until the lure dissintegrated. Chris

Looks a lot like a Flintstone "mashed banana", but not quite. The Flintstone is missing the black dots, and the colors are reversed. Very close though. Might be a Warrior, or a Yeck. Chris

200 ft. of 150 lb. test mono. JK. 20-30 ft. of Ande 20 lb. mono works just fine. I used to go as far as 50 ft., but have had much more success with the shorter leads. Chris

Got out for two trips in Onekama over the last week. It was nice being the only boat for as far as I could see. Ended up with 14 fish overall and missed/lost four or five others. Most of the misses came on slider rigs. All kings except for one laker. Flasher/flys on dipsys were hot the first trip, and green/black spoons on lead the second. Had a quad on the second trip and boated all four (very lucky). Good sized fish with the biggest at 17 lbs. A stomach check showed all to be full of bait. The biggest fish must have had at least two dozen alewife in it's stomach. If anyone wants additional details shoot me a p.m. Good luck, Chris

Thanks Matt and Grant. I agree Grant, they work great on the in-lines. I use them with my full cores. I've never used the 45 copper before. How much backer are you getting on there, and what type? I'm assuming some type of super line (power-pro)? What do you think you are getting for depth with the 300 of 45 copper? Thanks again, Chris

Anybody using Penn 330's for copper. I've got a couple extra that I'm going to be setting up and looking for any input on the pro's and con's regarding this reel with copper. Not sure if I'm going with the 32 or 45 variety as of yet. I've looked at the reel calculator and have an idea of it's capacity. Let me know your experiences i.e. how much it holds, problems, likes, dislikes....etc. etc. Thanks in advance, Chris

Have not checked around yet here in Manistee, or Onekama. But usually in Manistee you can get it at Tangled Tackle, Shipwatch Marina, Fisherman's Center or Insta-Launch. In Onekama you can get it at Andy's on Main St. I have heard that it's going to be scarce this year. I'll ask around and see what everyone knows. I'm not sure if you were looking for info on all areas in general, so I hope this helps. Chris

Here is a pic of the walleye caught by my friends son. I had my friend, his son and his father fishing with me that day. Pretty cool to have three generations all together fishing. But that's what it's all about isn't it.

Got out in the evening for a nice troll. Wind had the lake rolling down from the N/W so trolled south from the pier heads to start. Picked up one brown on the way down, but after about four miles I turned back to the north for better boat/speed control. Picked up two more chunky browns on the way back up, and one nice bonus 9 plus pound walleye just outside the pier heads. Everything on long lines on inline boards about 150 ft. off the boards. Silver, F/T and gold floating Rapalas took three, and a blue/silver thin fin took another. Nice to be on the water again. Chris

Before I go out if I don't have a report from a credible source, or have missed a few days is to check the water temps and currents which there are links to on this site. If you find the right water you will find the fish, and then it's a matter of running the baits in the most optimal way regarding the current. Thermocline (temp. break) is also important and sometimes changes rapidly. I'm no expert, but I hope this helps. Chris
