Ice Fishing Port Sheldon

Recommended Posts

My boss went out last night to Port Sheldon. He wound up breaking ice throught the channel with his 18ft fibergass outboard boat. They showed me the video and pictures from that and man that was risky. It would have been one very expesive coast guard venture had there been any problems. One other guy in a smaller aluminum boat tryed getting out but they said he didnt make it to open water. They wound up picking up an 8lb steelie on the warm water discharge on an orange hot-n-tot.

Oh I don't see the fuss! I would do that, as long as it was out of someone else's boat. Fiberglass wouldn't be my 1st choice to bust through that ice, but what do I know?????? At least they got a nice steely, and made it back in with no problems. Not surprised to see that much ice in the channel. A westerly wind will push the ice back into the harbors. We need an east wind and some warm temps to get rid of that crap.
