DipsyDew Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Got out around 6:30 PM in the blistering heat and started dropping lines at about 115 FOW. We were maybe halfway through setting lines, and had our 150 copper start flying towards the middle with a Bloody Nose spoon but unfortunately, we missed that one. got the rest of the lines in and started on a south troll, marking plenty of fish in that 115–125 FOW range. Around 7:30 PM, our port side diver out 135 on a 3 setting went, and we landed a solid 10 lb king on a Kryptonite Spin Doctor with a 24" lead to a Green Crinkle fly. While dealing with that fish at the net, our 250 copper on the starboard side started clicking, Green Lightning J Plug was the bait, and after a very intense fight (wrapped around the rigger cable and causing all sorts of chaos), we boxed a thick 12 lb king. From about 8:00 PM on, we could NOT keep that Kryptonite/Green Crinkle combo in the water. That diver fired 4–5 times over the next 90 minutes and was hands down our hottest setup. All bites were coming between 120–125 FOW leading into sunset. Right at dusk, our deep rigger 75 down with a Mag Green Jeans spoon took one of the softest bites I’ve seen all year, but it turned into our biggest fish of the night, a nice 15 lb king. 9:30, we turned for a north troll and picked at a few more fish, including one on the 350 copper with a Mag Ratchet Jaw spoon and another on the 10-color with a Jager Bomb spoon. We fished until a little after 10:00 and pulled lines just after dark. Overall, it was hot, flies were nasty, but fishing was solid and the lake was glass. Ended the night 8/13 or so, with some good action before dark... Just an overall steady night with calm seas. What worked… Kryptonite Spin/Green Crinkle Fly (Diver 135’ on 3) – 3 Kings Green Lightning J Plug (250 Copper) – 1 King Mag Green Jeans Spoon (Rigger 75’ main) – 1 King Mag Ratchet Jaw Spoon (350 Copper) – 1 King Jager Bomb Spoon (10 Color) – 1 King Green Dolphin Spin Doctor/Yellow-Green Fly (Diver 160’ on 3) – 1 King IMG_6527.mov 6956AA1F-BCD7-44B4-AAAD-CD11A59F624F.mp4 8
zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Nice catch last night. I am having a hard time figuring out the SD/fly bite. One day it is on, especially on a diver, then it is off. Glad you got em good.
