I like 7 footers for my deeper running rods and 8'-3" for my higher mono rods. I use all Ugly Stik rods on my boat. I pull Church walleye and 44 boards mostly, but I have the offshore boards as well.

I use 8’-6” Wilderness medium action rods for my riggers.

For dipseys 9’-6” Okuma medium heavy action.

For lead and copper Wilderness and other rods with medium heavy action. 8’ up to 10’-6” (10’ & 10’-6” are old dipsey rods.

Use braid on dipseys and braid with mono leader on riggers. Braid on riggers (and super thin SS rigger cable) reduces water drag and blow back when fishing deep.

At Ultimate Fishing Show in Novi last Friday, got 2 8’-6” Wilderness medium heavy action rods for $25.

Had to get them. Franks Outdoors always has good deals at the show. Used one to replace medium action rod for 200’  copper.
