Hotdog71 Posted June 28, 2011 Share Posted June 28, 2011 I'm sitting here watching the waves in the bayou and I got to thinking. How long does it take for the lake to setup? Does it take a couple of days with the wind coming in from the right direction? Is it a week? I don't recall if the lake ever setup last year. Maybe I don't know what the lake would look like setup. jimcr Posted June 28, 2011 Share Posted June 28, 2011 I haven't been at this too long but I will try , you will get some warmer water up on the top and then some colder water down low, and in the middle the thermocline , a large difference in water temp. above the thermocline 56, below some thing like 42-46 degrees. up til now its been fairly consistent top to bottom, lets say with in 7-8 degrees. jimbobber Posted June 29, 2011 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Yup what you guys said,We need some stable winds for a few days for that to happen.When it keeps switching around like it has the water just dosent seem to stay put.When the lake "sets up " the fish tend to be more" pinpointable" and easier to catch rather than being scattered all around.
