Diawa Linecounter reels

Recommended Posts

I was looking at the Diawa 47 lc and plan to use in salt water from time to time and there is a grease port that is open to the spool shaft and was woundering if any one uses this reel and puts it through it's paces.

It will mostly used in fresh water but concerned about the open shaft but it's a great price for a line counter.

I bought two Diawa 47LC this past summer for salmon fishing. I was not all that happy with them. I used them on my downrigger rods. They seemed too small. The crank throw is too small. I am replacing them with something else next year and will use them for walleye. I bought them because I have two older 47lc that are much better.

Power handles can be added to the 47lc to make them much nicer. I just got my Great Lakes 47lc back from Tunas Reel Troubles in Ludington and they feel much nicer with the big handles.
