Port Sheldon Thurs & Fri

Recommended Posts

Managed a trip down to SW Mich for a few days. Original plan was to go out of Saugatuck but rain being more to the south on Thursday afternoon we opted to stay a little more to the north and went out of Port Sheldon.

On the water at about 4 pm, washed lures for about 4-1/2 hrs from 65 fow out to 215 fow with only 1 bump. Finally at about 8:45 in about 90 fow we got a double (always fun with only 2 people onboard). While one of those two were still on the floor the SWR goes off again. (Green Coyote 8" Flasher / Green Fern Fly and Green Dolphin Mag were the best for us Thurs.) Ended the evening at 11:00 with 4 for 5. Rolled into bed at 1:30 am, alarm at 4:55am , check on weather and off to Port Sheldon again.

Last fish thurs came at 63' so we dropped lines in 55' headed out fri morn. Looked like most boats were out in 150-200 fow.

By the time we were getting our 4th line down one of the riggers took off, just grab that and the SWR is active. Steady action till about 7:30 and it shut right off. Picked up one more at about 10:00am. Ended the morning 6 for 9 (2 coho, 4 kings) Back to brother-in-laws for lunch & cleaning fish. Back to PS at 5:30 pm with a 3rd person on board. Ended Fri evening 2 for 3 and one of the worst Lead Core tangles I have ever had. (may explain why those lines were not active for the last hour or so. (Moonshine Mongolian Beef, Bloody Nose & Blue Dolphin were best, nothing on flies at all fri)

Sat. a no go due to wind .
