  1. I would say around 6-7 miles... should take like 15 minutes or so if you can go 25mph.
  2. Maybe the forecasted 15-25KT East winds on Friday will blow the dirty water in close out and it will finally clear it up!
  3. One othe observation from last weekend... the water inside 50ft was really dirty and churned up. The further you got out the more clear/blue the water got.
  4. Hard to say... I would skip the beach and start out in like 80-100fow and just head west. Run baits up and down the water column and then target specific depths when you get hits. It seems like the temp maps have been pretty off lately because its so foggy over the lake. When we went out last Saturday the actual temps were MUCH different than the temp maps. We had 61 in the plume, upper 50's in close and it dropped down to 44 offshore.
  5. Nice work Terry! It was awesome fishing out there!
  6. It should work on an iPod touch... I will test tomorrow. I have a coworker who has one. I run a 18' Lund we call Efishency.
  7. The marine radio stream is live! I made some updates this year so it will now work on Iphones and Ipads. Pretty minimal activity at the moment. Hopefully people get out this weekend and we can hear some live action! Check it out! http://www.bigredclassic.com/radio.htm

  9. If it doesn't get too rough I bet they stay put, just go down a little deeper... if it 100% flips who knows.
  10. Nice Jimmy, heading out this week again? I'm itching to get back there... My brother might try tommorow morning depending on the weather.
  11. Nice fish Dave, thanks for the report...btw didn't hear you on the radio at all Sat morning either.
  12. Very interesting... we had a steady 44 degrees on the surface so there must be a temp break between holland and port sheldon. I gave the info to a buddy who was headed out yesterday afternoon and he ended up with 16 in the same water last night. I had a rigger 100+ for a few hrs and a wire diver on 1 out 250 but neither got a touch
  13. Holland 3-24 AM Awesome morning fishing out of Holland ended up 17 for 22. Started in 70 fow around 8:30am and headed west. We didnt have a bump until 185 and then things heated up. We tried an east troll a few times looping through areas we caught fish but it was way less productive than a west troll. Ended up in 260 with our limit at 1pm. Best fishing was 185-260 with 220-240 being the 'hot' area. Caught fish in the top 50 but the surface seemed to be the best. I had 2 boards with 1/2 oz bullet weights on them and pulling them off seemed to produce more hits. Fish came on flat mono lines, 5 color, 7 color, wire dipsy on 1 out 70, fire dipsy on 3 out 90, 120, and 140. Riggers down 35, 45 and 55. Best lure was J7 orange rapala on a flat mono line, outside board. Other lures were J9 orange, J7 black/silver, orange dodger black/purple fly, silver streak orange chilly willy with gold back, white spin doctor green crinkle fly, mtn dew spin doctor carmel dolphin fly, It was kind of a flurry I might have missed a few... 15 cohos, 2 kings... had to toss 2 back pulling lines as we already had our limit. Fish were full of bugs when we cleaned them.
  14. I'll be out there... hopefully the rain holds off. Only 40% chance of precipitation. I heard of someone doing pretty good 250+. Was thinking about starting in closer and just heading west. I'll be on channel 68.
  15. Interesting article... anyone been fishing offshore from MI city, New Buffalo, or St Joe? I haven't seen any reports from out there. Normally in April it can be pretty good fishing out 15-20 miles offshore. If we're a month ahead, maybe thats where all the fish are at.
  16. I have the best luck with the red with black squiggles on flat mono lines. Always seems to be good for a few fish, sometimes it's on fire. Always have one on the outside board.
  17. My brother hit the lake for the boat's maiden voyage for 2012. Trolled the beach north and ended up 3 for 3 with 1 - 8 inch king(released) and 2 browns (2lbs and 6lbs). Fish hit on a J7 perch and J11 black/silver. Below is a pic of the 6lb brown.
  18. Thanks for the report! Was the water pretty dirty yet?
  19. It's going to warm up quick with the current forecast! 70's every day in the next 10 days!
  20. Port Sheldon and New Buffalo are both state DNR launches too. You can get in with the parks pass.
  21. I've been heading down to the New Buffalo/Michigan City area now for 3 years. I've gone offshore a handful of times (10-15 miles north) 150-200fow and from past experience we do from good to excellent out there but thats typically in April. Anyone who's been fishing that are for awhile... is offshore typically a safe bet always? I'm heading down on March 24th depending on the weather and was thinking about skipping the beach and heading out. I've also done really well on the beach (10-20 fow) although I have had a few trips fishing in tight where the water was really dirty and only got a few fish.
