  1. Always buy in quanities of two or more....I think thats fishermans law!!! I learned that a long time ago. Reason being as one day your hot lure will be discontinued and that really irks ya when it happens. I can thank Rapala for scrapping the 3/8 Rattle Tot line when they took over the company. Same with their Hot n tot Pygmies. Luckily for me i got all i wanted and more when i found out they were scrapped. But if you lose one, its gone and you arent getting a replacement. So, i always stock up on lures i have confidence in just incase a rainy day should come along.

  2. Headed out with Jay D, our buddy Geoff and my brother Eric this morning. Got on a bunch of dink perch and i managed a snake on a tip up. Pretty uneventful first half of the day. Jay and Geoff headed for home and my brother and i regrouped and did some scouting. Hit a canal after lunch and got into em pretty good. I fished 4 holes all afternoon and i took all my fish outta two of them. I ended up with my 25 and released many more. My brother had some trouble getting on em despite sitting right next to me(why does it work like that?), but eventually sat down in a decent hole and iced quite a few. I think he had 10-12 keepers and tossed back quite a few. Ended up keeping 30 some gills between us. Fun day, and a great way to start the ice season.

Note the pics of Jay on ice...That dont happen too much...Had some coaxing to do to get the trolling fly off. I told him there werent any kings, steelies or ho's in there. After a fit, we got him calmed down and on the lake.

  3. Very nice, i did something similar. I made my mounts outta some nylon i had lying around. I basically just made a rail mount and then drilled and tapped it to bolt the light on as well as attach it to the Bimini. I ran all the wire through the tube as well. Works good, i do the same thing with the planer boards too. Great minds think alike eh?...lol

  4. I use a good old fashioned sharpening stone. Thats what my Dad taught me to sharpen a knife on. I dont know what type of stone mine is made from, so dont ask. Its gray in color and about 12" long, 1/2" thick and about 3 1/2" wide. It was my Dad's grandfathers. IMO its between a finishing stone and a medium grit stone. Seems to be a happy medium and works very nicely for me. The real trick to a sharp knife is not letting it get too dull to start with. A little time spend after each session will save you allot of hassel resharpening latter. If you do this it dont take long to hone it back to a razor. To get it scary sharp i put it on the hard Arkansas Stone.

  5. I hear of some limits on our side up around the Standish area Dan. But i also heard just as many reports for perch. Good fishing, just real small fish. Im going gill fishing this weekend and then im gonna do a foot trip next week. Shaping up real good off NP right now.
