  1. Thank you sir. I have that very schematic saved on my PC. I was just hoping to save some money on some of the parts by going the used route. If worse comes to worse ill take the plunge and get new parts. I have a power head in good working order, just trying to get this one fixed up. Thank you for the link, much appreciated.
  2. Thats where i went. I was at Chip Rd. Bridge and then headed north to Knockles Bridge. Theyre both within a mile and a half from the house. Couldnt believe i didnt see at least one sucker or walleye...but then again, we are a little early. Im with you though, i hope water levels stay reasonably high so the fish can get in there and do their thing, without the water levels dropping and trapping fish. A couple years ago i seen the river bed at Knockles Bridge dry in late spring. There were basically just pools of water in the shallow holes...Unbelievable. That entire stretch all the way back to the main branch of the river is some fine spawning habitat. Lets hope Ma Nature keep her good and wet this year. Good luck on da bay as well as the rifle.
  3. Thats awesome Dan...Good for you. Make sure to thank him for his service for me. Trips like this one are definitely special. Same with children...Its so rewarding to see them light up with joy....Trips like this and all the good folks you meet are definitely the things i miss the most about the charter biz...May have to take that up again later in life.
  4. ...Could be! I just checked the Kawkawlin here by the house and there no Walleye or Suckers in there. Only thing i saw was a beautiful Northern Pike...Old gal was all warted up, but was a solid 38"-40" with some awesome girth. We definitely need that water to warm up a bit to get up here and spawning. Ill try and snap a pic or two when they do finally make it up this far.
  5. Nice pics Dan...It sure is amazing how things have changed over the years. Look at that motor as well as that suit!...But, thats what there was back in the day. Even though i was a youngster i had a "snow suit" very similar to that. Idnentical in color....Mine had one of those fancy fluffy collars.:lol:
  6. Well, ive acquired and old JIffy 3 hp ice auger. Its the original with the top handle/throttle and single side handlebar. It runs, but i do need some parts for it. Heres what im after: A gas tank for a model 30 3 hp Jiffy Ice Auger. New style winged handles New style throttle assembly and Throttle rod So, if you have an old beat up Jiffy 3 hp that doesnt run collecting dust out in your barn id like to talk to you about it. Thanks, Adam
  7. Glad you joined up Jay. This fella is a great addition to the site. He is defintiely a hard core salmon head. Be ready for lots of consistant catches and reports...You got the real deal here.
  8. Yup, i sure am.

  9. Heading out in my buddies new boat tomorrow. Hope to break it in right. Any particular lead or speed been good Dan? We were running our Shad raps at like 25' back at 0.8-1.0 the day i was out. Had em just ticking bottom. I hope his boat will troll down well with the cold water temps.
  10. Nice job Dan....Seems that Firetiger is showing up with regularity again this year...Suprise suprise....Great perenial producer!
  11. 1000' of wire on a Daiwa SG47LC works magic. I also dont like crimps. They can fail and its just more stuff to look for if you kink and need to rerig. The knot in that link works fantastic....Half hitch and an overhand knot...dont get any simpler than that...Simple=effective in almost anything you do.
  12. ...I thought i was the only one that thought about that crazy unbrella rig....I think as long as you kept the leader to your target bait a bit longer and away from all the hardware it would probably work well. Wonder how something like that would fare for walleye and salmon behind a dipsey?
  13. Looks like you and Mark had a great trip out there....Congrats. Did you happen to catch the water temp by chance?
  14. I believe Doug Stange said the Berkley Hollow Body swim baits are the finest swimbaits he's ever used....That says volumes to me. I see no reason why they wont work Dan. I tired some swimbaits last year and didnt have any luck. But then again, i didnt give it a good honest try either. I bet Big Water Tackles Herring oil would be a good addition to the Hollow Body Shad....Oh, i ran mine behind Inline weights when i tried them, which very well could have been the problem. Worked them slow, might be a better presentation at a little faster pace.
  15. I agree, great looking fish. Very healthy....Too bad the water was so cold as they had zero spunk to em. Just came in like logs. Amazing what a 21' boat, and a 190# guy with a 7 1/2' rod pulling on your lip does.
  16. Thanks Frank. Heres a little vid i shot when i got home. Forgot the camera when we went out.
  17. Buddy and I hit the bay yesterday. Had to dodge some ice, but it wasnt too bad. Wouldnt recommend night trips just yet. Dont want to do the titantic. We fished from 6-18' of water. Water clarity varied, but temps were pretty constant at 34.8-36.2...BRRR....Anyhow, we pulled #8 shad raps, #12 and #14 Husky Jerks. All the fish landed came on raps and the ones we lost were on the huskys. Ended up landed 3 and lost 3 more. Had some nice quality fish as well in the 3 1/2-5# range. Fished the Kawkawlin River near the house tonight. Just casted off the bank and ended up 1 for 3 on eyes. Seems theres some fish in, but only a handful..at least along the stretch i fished. Had a couple small males and one female that i would guess to be around 8#. Landed one around 17" or so. Good way to close out the season on the rivers. Cant wait to get back on the bay again.
  18. I hear good things about the tib right now Dan.
  19. Ive been out the last two days with great results...we landed 21 between us in the last two outtings. Ice was really good when i came in last night. Infact, it tightened up some from Sunday. No water out there, just real slick. Creepers are a MUST. I hope we can get through todays wind and tomorrows rain and wind. If we do, i think we'll be fine. Shore ice might get a little hairy if we get the weather theyre calling for along with some jamming...Just hope the damage isnt too severe that some cold cant heal it up in short order. Was going to go today, but an old friend stopped by for a bit. Now, i just dont have the ambition....Guess ill take the day off and hold my breath until this weather goes through, then reassess things out there. Heres some vids and pics from yesterdays action...More fish with sore lips out there as i threw some of mine back. Kept a few for the barber. Dad brought his home though and we're gonna eat those this evening.
  20. They were working great up until a couple days ago. Switched it up to jigs to get fish, then went back to my old stand by do jiggers...In all fairness, those spoons havent seen the water since....Theyre a good spoon IMO.
  21. Nice job Jason...Thats the very reason i didnt fish Saturday!!!
  22. Not a problem, put it in 5 other places i visit as well.
  23. I agree Dan, the Bay is teeming with bait. The fish this winter are stockier than ever!...It wont be long and our average sized fish will be back to where it once was, but with unbelievable numbers. Ive found perch, white bass, shad and shiners in fish ive cleaned this winter along with several unknowns because they were too far gone. Seems the forage base is wide. I really love the fact that theyre utilizing the bass as that is an extremely untaped resource in the Bay. And i feel its having an impact because the white bass we're catching are some real dandies. Not so many 5-6"ers, but many in the 13-15" range...Awesome whiteys! Im sure theyre benefitting from the forage explosion as well though. I love the Bay, your hard pressed to find a place like it. Its definitely has a special place in my heart.:D
  24. Hey guys, my buddy Joe's friend had his trailer stolen today at the end of Linwood Rd. in Linwood, MI. Heres a post he's put on a few other sites. I wanted to put it out here and on a few other forums to see if we cant catch the scum and get the trailer back. Any info please PM me and ill forward it to Joe. Thank you. Heres Joe's post. I know this is a long shot, but figured it might be worth posting anyways. A friend of mine just called me from Linwood Rd. He was parked on the ice for no more then 45 minutes and his trailer was stolen. His cousin seen his veichle and called him to let him know. The trailer was a 2 place snowmobile trailer. Had a black snow/slush gaurd on the front of it. I believe he said the make was Caravan. Spare tire on tongue of the trailer w/cover. Trailer was attached to a black Jeep Comander. If anybody might have seen something and can give a discription of any possible suspects please send me a pm. Thank you, Joe
