  1. Hey guys here is an update on the Jimbobber repairs, i pulled the engine out

a week ago ,didnt go so bad had her out in about three hours:D(not bad for a fist timer i quess), when i pulled her i found the motor mount blocks where gone :angry2::angry2:so tonight i cut them out and found nothing but mush:eek:! But the surrounding wood is wet but still strong and not rotten  sooooo i am going to let it air out and build up some new blocks out of marine plywood and fiberglass and glass it all in this should do the job.I also checked the transom and found one small spot that was soft but for the most part it's in good shape so ithink i will save that for another years project.Hope to get the motor done in the next two weeks and the glass done before that so i can still be on the water in mid april. Thanks for your advise guy's. jimmy

  2. Clean, clean, clean, you have to make sure the spoon is clean of all finger prints and when applying the stickers do not touch the sticky side if possible, then I have put spoons in a stack and rubberbanded them ,then put them in the oven at the lowest setting for about 15 min. this is an old trick i learned from Dennis Ende who used to own North Port nailer. We do this with our spoons that have multiple layers of stickers and it seems to work good. 3. I picked up 2 blacks releases,a dodger box, a planer board,2 cow bell setups and 2 paddles today at Gold Coast. What a great day I was there from 9:15to1:30 for my spoons and saw lots of people .Thanks for supporting our local retailers. Jimmy

  4. If you want to do some subtle patterns then air brush is a geat way to do it,also some simple stencils will be helpful. I had a paint boothe set up at the house when we first started to paint our jp slammers and used an airbrush. If you are going to do a bunch of them you may want to make a hanger.make a 1x2 frame with a snap swivel on top and a small spring on the bottom, hang the spoons between .If you are going to paint on silver plating be sure there in NO tarnish or you wont get anything to stick to it.Prime anything else with a good primer then paint your color over it,after that be sure to seal it with a clear coat ,on both sides of the spoon to completely seal it.have fun theres nothing like painting your own stuff and catching fish on it!:) Jimmy
