  1. went for the shake down cruise tinight on the new engine, went 2 for 2, every thing went great no leaks and she ran like a top!:D We went to 170 fow an trolled back in , didn't mark much for fish till we got into 80 fow where we took two lake trout about 12 lbs each.both came on jp slammers, glow fire dog and a fire tiger down by bottom. Both my fish hawk probes took a crap, one filled with water:confused: ,and one had a broken power wire:mad: ,may be time to upgrade i think  otherwise all the equipment worked flawless.:thumb:

  2. :D:D:D:D:D The grin say's it all, it took me 8 hrs yesterday to put the motor back together and put it in the boat and put the the lower unit on,I ran it in the driveway today ,now it needs a tune up,and a small shift cable adjustment( It stalls going to reverse) and the engine cover needs to be fixed and we are in bussines!I hope to take her out this week for a shakedown,I will let you know how it goes. :thumb: Jimmy
  3. I use buckets and they work great,I drilled 1" holes in the bottom this allows water to flow thru the bucket and acually slows you more than without holes. I took the handles off and drilled holes in the side, then ran rope thru and tied it off,I have rope off the side of the boat long enough to have the end of the bucket near the back of the boat, also try to get the rope that secures the bucket to you boat mid ship if possible i use d rinds for a quick hookup to the bucket, the buckets ride along side the boat nicely and does not bang. Its a cheap alternative to bags and smaller. Thanks guys I'm going for the bags. I may try couple 5gal buckets to see how they work.
  4. Braid or fire line cuts the water better and does not have any stretch so it will pop easier when you are pulling lines as well.I stack my riggers all the time( if i have enough guys on board),I run the top one longer ( 20 back on the lower and 30 back on the upper)for the fish that drop back from the lower bait,I will also run a free slider (6 foot)on the top rod as well if i'm in deep enough water. Our riggers do very well for us all summer long. jimbobber
