OK guys I need some help. Generally my fishing is fairly good. But when the wind kicks up and the waves get to be larger than say four feet my fishing falls way off. What do you guys do in large wave conditions to entice the bite.

Here is a couple of quick ideas. 1. Check your flairs, they expire every few years. 2. Dunkin Donuts card for your early morning coffee. 3. Batteries, for your probe, flashlights, etc. 4. Boat soap, deck cleaner, simple Green,wax etc. for boat clean up and maintenance 5. Gift card for on oil change for the truck. 6. Mono line for the rigger rods. 7. Ratchet straps, bungies, spider net, etc. for tie downs for the pick up truck 8. Fuel addatives for storage and water removal. 9. Deicer for the car / truck windshield this winter. 10. Rain X or fog X for all your windshields. 11. Cheep hand towels for the boat. Great for clean up or to wipe fish slime off your hands. 12. plano boxes for storage and spoons. 13. Is it time to change your fuel separator? 14. couple of movie tickets if you go. 15. new pair of boat shoes. 16. cup holder for the boat. 17. new ropes for the boat. 18. back up bilge pump. 19. zip lock freezer bags / vacuum bags for your catch. 20. seasonings to cook your catch. 21. a new pair of sunglasses. 22. a new cooler or repair parts for the one you have. 23. spare downrigger weight. 24. spare releases. 25. Fishing / hunting DVD or book

All above is good info. I personally run four riggers on both of my boats. If I was you I would install the four riggers you already have. Not for my personal preference but because of the versatility. If you have the four on your boat you have the ability to run what you want on any given day. Some days you might want to run three or four and you can. On another day you may want to run three and have one fail for one reason or another (electrical issues or broken cable, etc.) ant you still have the ability to run three and not two if you only had installed three. I had a cable break one trip and was down to three riggers. It was a tough bite and I was only getting hits with all riggers set five feet from one another and all mupped up, creating a small school of fish. The presentation was not working with two riggers and would only get hits when the third one was down there. I have always gone with the most I could afford. I can always use less, but I can not use what is not there. Good luck out there and enjoy the fishing.

I have only been to the Oak once. But lake wide the mature salmon are at the mouth of the rivers staging to spawn. Some have been in the rivers for a few weeks. You could also try offshore for the two year old salmon and for steelhead. I really liked the port and would like to get back there sometime. Good luck and tight lines

It was just the year. We also had a tough year over here on Lake Ontario. The weather subtracted a few days from the few we had scheduled and the fishing only was good a couple of days for us. As you said, there is always next year and this will only make us want it more. Good luck next year and tight lines.

99% of the time I am running my spoons clean. When I am having a tough time and fishing is slow I may put a spoon behind a dodger about four feet behind. This set up has been good in the past on the deepest rigger on those slow days.

That is hard to say. Your best bet is to go to the fish 307 site and check the parts list. Her is a link to the parts. It looks like it would all depend on the year of manufacture of your riggers compared to the ones your thinking of purchasing now. Good luck. I love my Cannons.

I would check with Lowrance, but I had the same issue with the with my Humminbird at anything above idle. If the waves kicked up above three footers and I had to give it some more gas the disturbace would render my sounder screen useless. I inquired about a ferrite to humminbird with a dicription of the issues I was having. A ferrite is a magnetic device you wrap your transducer cable around to hopefully eliminate unwanted electrical noise. They promptly sent me the right one at no charge. I can see the screen clearly now at all trolling speeds and very well while running. It is worth the asking.

Hello fellow Great Lakes and Salmon fishermen and woman. My name is Richard Doolin. I am an out of stater that loves to fish Lake Ontario. Last year I took on the task of acquiring donations for the Fair Haven Challenge. These donations go on a raffle table. All the proceeds go to the net pen project in Fair Haven, raising several thousand salmon for us all to catch. These net pen projects all along the shore are vital to the great fishery we have. This year and for the last few leading up to today, donations are very low. I have sent out over two hundred letters to various companies. Does anyone have any connections for donations to help or can think of someone I have not contacted. Any tackle stores want to get rid of some old stock for a good cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Being over two hundred contacts I will not list them here but if you suggest someone I will let you know if I have already contacted them. Please PM me if you do not want to put it on this thread. Thank you all for any help

O.K. guys. The Little Salmon River Challenge is over; it is time to start thinking about the Fair Haven Challenge. The Challenge this year is August, 25th. The fishing is shaping up and so are the prizes. We have a special raffle this year for one of two Navonics charts along with the regular raffle table. There is also a prize for the last place team to weigh in fish. So if you only catch one fish, please come to the weigh in. It is a great time to talk about the day, tell a few stories, have something to eat, and maybe go home with a little something extra. my Thompson 240 Fisherman also has the hard top. My hardtop is hollow. I mounted mine with tracks. Four screws in the corners and 3M to help adhear and seal. Two tracks and no issues so far. Been two years.

The warranty was noted to be fore the original owner but like said that was before the change of hands of the company. Some of the older stuff is no longer availible. Fish307.com has a pritty good selection of parts. The older models were slow but it does not bother me. Like stated above I hit the switch right after netting the fish and the weight is there when ready to reset the rod.
