  1. Hi all, My name is Ray and have been a fishoholic for many years. Shu you better not call me late for dinner ) I'm not the best at remembering names either. I'll remember screen names before the real name..
  2. Thanks Bill! I usually take mine outside and pressure wash it once a year Glad you figured out the problem, I just cleaned mine out with a vacuum a couple months ago when I added ram. Maybe we can add a temp guage to our pc's.. I might have Doug come over to my place one of these weekends, and maybe you would like to come out and we'll have a small cabin fever party? I'll let you know afetr I talk to crabby about what weekend.
  3. Hey Storm I was on Pauls boat Sunday, 36 foot egg harbor. Big boat with fly bridge and black canvas on top. Very easy to pick out on the lake, we did see a few boats out there, but not too many.
  4. Great job storm!! We hit the eyes on the 42-45w 02-03n with a lot of white bass around the walleye. Hopefully we'll be able to fish the walleye this weekend too..
  5. Thanks for the replies! Bill the fish where coming fast and I didn't measure or weigh the sheephead. Got it off the hooks, took a couple picts and let it go. I don't think it made the record of 22 pounds but would guess it was every bit of 15 pounds. My buddy Chris said we should of mounted it.. I would love to get you and Rich back out, I know Doug wants to go one more time too. I have a half day trip to run Saturday waves permitting, so lets see what the waves look like for Sunday and maybe we'll all get out together for another GLF outing on my boat.
  6. Hi all, I run the walkers and they work just as good as a dipsey, plus there's no ring. One thing I have noticed on dipseys, and walkers is the ball swivel on the back doesn't work very good, you need to either use a bearing snap swivel, or a ball swivel on the leader. The walkers are a little heavier in weight then a dipsey too, so you need to keep some tension on them while letting them out so they don't spin. I got one of the slide diver light bite in the mail but haven't tried it yet, it looks like a great idea.
  7. Hi all, we fished Friday, Saturday and Sunday. What an awesome weekend, great weather and fishing. Friday October 5 I helped Captain Paul Stresnak with a trip and we ended the day with 30 walleye and 2 trout. Mixed Veggies was our best bait in standard and stingray sizes. Saturday I ran a trip for perch and walleye, we ended the day with 80 perch and 11 walleye. Two fish ohio walleye, one weighed 10lb 4 oz. and one weighed 9lb 14oz. Best bait for the walleye was NBK Copper Stingray. Sunday I helped Captain Paul with another trip, we ended the day with 48 walleye, 6 trout, 200 white bass, and one HUGE sheephead. Dipseys with mixed veggies was our best color. Friday October 5 catch Saturday October 6 Sunday October 7 Me with HUGE Sheephead
  8. Hi all, All the minnow boats say it's hard to catch shiners during a full moon. Get some and freeze them so if no one has any it's better then no bait.
  9. Hello Bill! Great job on the perch!! Getting shiners is a pain this year thats for sure. I've been driving over to conneaut to get them when we perch fish, the price is good over there too. Shines has always sold minnows cheap, I think they net there own by the power plant at 72nd street. Where going to have to try to hook up one more time this year, summers winding down.
  10. Hi all, I took my brother out this after noon for a few hours. We where going to go perch fishing but decided to troll around instead. It was either 15 miles to Conneaut or 5 to troll for eyes. We ended the evening with 6 walleye and about 30 whitebass. The white bass where a pain but we managed to land one dandy walleye 29 inch 8.5 pounds on wire 400 back with a kaboom. Best spot for the eyes was 00-01.5N 46W. We had an awesome sunset and the lake was really nice. Her's our 29 incher
  11. Hi all, Jess wasn't that kind of strange heading out sunday morning, it was dead calm for about the first 7 miles then as soon as I got to where I wanted to get set up you could see the ripples out there and it kept building right out of the NE arrrg. Great job on the 27.5"!! I have a walleye trip thursday 9_27, then perch saturday I'll let you know how it goes. Or give me a call if your heading out, I didn't see where you headed to sunday. bigkahuna51, if your looking for info on what I run for walleye in the central basin of lake erie take a look back through some of my reports in this thread. If you have any questions feel free to write them in the forum and I'll help you out the best I can. I use jet divers, wire line, walker deeper divers, downriggers. I usually run the jets and wire lines off of the planer boards. As far as lures I run Stinger Spoons (scorpions, standard, and stingray sizes). Body baits i run Kabooms, Renauski, Reef Runner, Wally Divers. Thanks Priority1
  12. Hi all, I ran a walleye trip Sunday 9_23. We ended up with 12 walleye, plus we caught two huge 8 pound 26 inch sheepheads Our biggest walleye of the day was 9 pounds 15 onces and 29.5" The lake was a little bumpy offshore and we had a tough time staying on our numbers. Best location was around the 02-03N 42-45W. The bite was scatterd, some on wires 350 back, some on divers 3.5-180, 2-160, 1-130.
  13. Thanks for the info asteelfreek! Don't forget the limit for trout is 2 per person after september 1.
  14. Asteelfreek, what you getting them on by walnut beach? I haven't fished the mouth of ashtabula yet, but i'm sure they are stacked up out front.
  15. Hi all, I did a perch trip Sunday 9_16 after the big blow Saturday. Moved two times trying to find the fish. First stop 59N 41W pulled 25 kind of slow. Picked up and moved to 00N 41W even slower here count at 33, picked up and moved. Set up 02.2N 43W the bite was on out deeper, filled the cooler with 180 perch total. A buddy of mine was out there trolling for walleyes around me and got his limit of eyes too..
  16. gefilte fish, sounds like you did ok! It's not easy getting the fish in the net when your alone out there. Fish are out deep in Ashtabula too.
  17. Jess, yes that was me. I moved the boat to Kisters about 6 weeks ago, got tired of the rr bridge and the water level was very low where I was docked.
  18. Great job Jess! We pulled a lot of whitebass wednesday the 29th too, at one point I had 8 rods go off, 4 walleye and 4 bass. You fishing labor day weekend? I'm going to be out saturday and sunday give me a call.
  19. Hi all, My up to date report for Ashtabula. We fished Wednesday the 29th, set up on the 06N 45W and trolled North, North East at 2-2.5 mph. We hit some good pockets of fish between the 07-09N 45-43W. We continued trolling North -North East and when we got out beyond the 23 inch eyes we landed 4fish ohio's out around the 13-15N 40-43W we almost trolled all the way to the border, 22 mile return.. Wire has been our best producer, with kabooms back 350-425 off the boards. Divers pulled fish too at 3-200, 2-175, 1-135 with stinger stingrays NBK, Emerald Shiner. I had 5 guys on board and ended the day with 31 walleye and 1 trout.
  20. Toxic, we've been fishing offshore for the last few days. n 07-05 w 58-53 lots of fish out there but they are hugging the bottom after the big blow Friday. You'll need to run your lures deep..
  21. Hi all, I had a busy few days and finally got a chance to post my reports for Ashtabula. June 30_07 we did a half day morning trip and landed our 24 walleyes, 2 trout made it in the boat and lost a few. We fished 53-57 fow north of Ashtabula pulling jet 30's and 40's 200 feet back, wire out 375 feet with kabooms, walker divers 124mm off the back corners 55-85 on 1 setting, walker divers 107mm 2.5 setting out 140 feet. July 1_07 we ended the day with 18 walleye in the box, lost 5 at the back of the boat. 5 trout in the box and lost 5. The lake was a little rough when we started out but after a few hours it decided to lay down some. Fished the same program as June 30. July 3_07 had a tough time getting the bite going, plus I only had 2 guys onboard with me. 10 walleye in the box and 5 trout, lost one big trout or king. It hooked up and when it was making his run the lure got foul hooked in it's gill so we couldn't gain any line on him because we where pulling him sideways I couldn't clear everything fast enough to get turned, but tried to get back for the road kill, no luck. We fished a little deeper trying to find active fish 56-62 fow. I ran 3 wires 300 back and 3 walker divers off one side. Lead core 6 colors back with a 3 way pulled a couple eyes with a kaboom and a watermellon scorpion, each lure took a fish. July 4_07 we fished same spot as June 30, the bite was going great on everything 124mm 55-85 back on 1, 107 mm back 140-165 on 2, 107 mm back 185-210 on 3. Wire out 300 feet, jets out 200 feet. Ended with 16 walleye and 2 trout. At around 1 p.m. the winds picked up to 20+ out of the west and it started getting very rough so we had to pack up and head in, by the time we pulled everything in the waves were up to 4-6' so it was a fun ride in..
  22. Hi all, we don't have much of the trench in Ohio just the begining of the two where they start to split into PA, but it does change a couple of feet. It drops a lot out in front of walnut creek. You can see it on the link mike has for nautical charts at the top of this page, it's chart 14828 zoom in on walnut creek then scroll north and you'll see the depth lines. Ohio only has the tip of the trench like storm said. We do have the humps in Ohio way out by the corner of PA and Canada.
  23. Good job Bill! I'm glad you got your limit. Afternoons are sometimes the best fishing action for walleyes, specially if you stay till the sun goes down. It does make for a late night getting in but well worth it.
