  1. Hi all, Ran three trips this weekend and limited on all three for walleye. Best bite is still jet 30's and 40's with stinger scorpion spoons. Saturday jet leads 130 feet back on one side and 140 feet back on the other side. Sunday jet leads 160 back on one side and 180 back on the other side. Been fishing 8 miles North East of the harbor in about 73 feet of water.
  2. Nailer, average size walleye has been about 5 pounds, 24-26 inch. Gonna hit it again friday i'll let you know how it goes.
  3. Hi all, We hit the 2:30 pm draw bridge, motored north to 45 feet of water and started to set up trolling north around 3 pm. Jet 40's back 65 feet, jet 30's back 35 feet. Hit some fish in about 50-55 feet of water, then just worked the area. Running stinger scorpions on the jets. Best trolling direction was North & South at about 2mph. We ended up with 9 walleye, lost 3, and 2 white perch. We pulled lines at 7 pm so we didn't do too bad for 4 hours of trolling. Heard some good info a little farther west by Geneva, same depth. Perch bite was fair from what I heard, 41 feet of water just a little east of the ashtabula light house, and about 41 feet of water north of Kingsville.
  4. Hi all, The walleye fishing is very good in Ashtabula this weekend. Limits are being caught close to shore. Best area is right at the opening to the lake. Set up as soon as you clear the lighthouse and troll west in 35-45 feet of water, work the area for about 1 mile east to west. Walleye are feeding on lake shiners so best size spoon is stinger scorpions. Fish are up high, run jet 30's back 35-45 feet on boards. As far as the perch I have not heard any great catches, some guys are pulling some but no limits.
  5. Hello Keith, Never thought of xxxlarge life jackets. There are large sizes available but they are type iii. Do a search for stearns deckmate ii. I guess as long as it would fit a large person, it would be better then one a large person can't get on. Let me know what you find out.

  7. Hi all, I played firstmate with Captain Paul Thursday. We set up north of Ashtabula at the 02 north, 48 west and trolled northeast to the 04 north, 46 west. We caught 12 on that troll. Then we got some info that there was a good pocket of fish at the 03 north, 49 west so we trolled that direction and finished up with our limit of 30 walleye, and 2 trout. We caught one HUGE walleye weighing in at almost 14 pounds and 33 inches it was one of the biggest walleye I have ever landed on lake erie. Wires back 325 on one side and 400 on the other with kabooms. Dipsys 3 setting back 200, 2 setting back 150. We ran 6 wires and 4 dipsys. Best size spoon stingray, mixed veggies, 57 chevy (caught the big one).
  8. Hi all, We fished Saturday out of Ashtabula. I headed west to Geneva to set up because I got some pretty good info from over there. We ran to the 00 north, 58 west and set up. Fishing was lousy over there, we only pulled 8 fish in that area so I trolled north east. Then when they started calling for thunder storms I was about 15 miles away from port so we stayed out. I didn't want to run into the storm most of it was onshore. So after trolling Northeast my best pocket of fish was between the 02-04 North, 54-51West. We ended the day with 32 walleye, and 2 trout. Most fish where caught on wires with kabooms back 300 on one side and 400 on the other. Best size spoons on the dipsys was Stingray, colors monkeypuke, dr.jack, antifreeze, holly christmas. Speed 2-2.6 mph
