  1. Hi all, Storm I' ran 8 of my jets on braided and 1 on wire. Plus we did pull some fish on the walker divers 107 mm 150 foot back on 3 and 120 back on 1, I had 4 divers running. Most of the fish we marked where at 36 foot. Toxic I saw some boats pass me but didn't know it was you, whats your boat name? That railroad bridge drives me crazy Here's one of the trout we pulled sunday.
  2. Hey Doug, Thanks for the advice on the tranny, I'm hoping it was just over filled when they changed the fluid and it got warmed up enough for it to come out of the vent. Sunday it didn't leak anything.
  3. Hi all, We fished between Ashtabula & Geneva. We caught a lot of junk fish, 22 walleye, and 2 trout. It was a slow pick for us but we had a great day, the lake was very nice and we didn't get covered with bugs like the boats out saturday. Jet 40's back 200 picked the most fish with standard and stingray spoons. Depth varied from 48-56 fow. Are biggest eye of the day came on a jet 40 with a razberry dolphin standard, it weighed in at 11 pounds 29 inches.
  4. Toxic, I talked to a few guys about how sunday went. One guy did well on the 53 east line in 30-40 fow. Another good report was the 55 n and 55 w, I was on the 56n and 56w saturday. I'll make some calls on thursday and see whats up, I know some guys fishing thursday. Bill I get some info for you too on Thursday.
  5. Hi all, I guess my answer for why the fish are scattered is due to them being on the move. I did get some reports from guys that did well on sunday in 30-40 fow east of ashtabula. And I got the same report from guys that fished sunday at the same numbers I was on saturday evening in 50-60 fow. As far as spoon size, a lot of people will pull scorpions all year and troll really slow. Once the water temp warms up you can actually troll up to 3 mph for eyes with bigger spoons. I'll start running standards and stingrays here in a week or two. As far as the trout bite being so good, I was told that usually by now they would be out deep in canadian waters, there not so maybe they'll be in our waters for a few weeks or the whole summer.
  6. Toxic, sounds like you guys did great. I run 25-30# flourocarbon leaders no snubbers, but we still have some shake off while jumping. A single hook works better for the trout too. I talked to a buddy today and he got his walleye limit east of Ashtabula and a couple trout. If your gonna head out this weekend give me a call and I'll give you an up to date report.
  7. Lake Erie usually flips only towards the winter or a really heavy blow. Whats happening is a normal thermocline set up period that the lake goes through every year with the temperatures. The thermocline is actually started to set up in 63-64 fow, and a couple foot shallower it's scattered. The walleye and trout are in shallow due to the smelt finishing up with their spawn season. The smelt are moving out of the shallow water and moving to deeper water. The smelt feed in or above the thermocline on larvae that gets trapped in it, and the walleye and trout will follow them to eat them. The surface temps can change by the day due to wind directions, and currents. Just my 2 cents..
  8. Hi all, Saturday June 16, 07 me, Shu with two of his buddy's, and captaincrabass and his son fished out of Ashtabula. We hit the draw bridge at 3 p.m. and started fishing around 3:30 p.m. Fishing was tough, the fish where scattered at all depths, our best bite was in 60 fow. Jet 30's and 40's back 100 feet with standards & scorpions. 82mm diver off the boards pulled the big fish again and Dougs son reeled it in like a pro. We had a great time, the lake was really calm and we ended the day with 17 walleye, 2 trout got off, 1 sheephead, 1 yellow perch, 1 white perch, and 3 white bass. Shu played that yellow perch just right and we got it in the boat. Doug here's the link for filling out a fish ohio http://www.dnr.ohio.gov/wildlife/Fishing/fishohio/default.htm walleye 29" 8.12 pounds, north of ashtabula. Thank you everyone for a fun day and a big thanks for running all the lines!
  9. Toxic, give me a call later Saturday evening, we'll be fishing from 1:30 until 8 or so. I'll give you some numbers to start on, and the program thats working. 440.241.2214
  10. Great job Shu, starting to get some trout over here too is the report I just got tonight. Diving disks up close to the boat for the trout.
  11. Rich, Nice fish! Great report. Those big eyes always get off at the back of the boat, one inch of slack and there gone.
  12. Hi all, We fished Saturday West of Geneva, Ohio. The Lake was a little choppy, but we still had a good day. Fished from the 03-06 on the west line in 49-56 fow. We pulled a lot of fish, but didn't get enough big ones to place in the tournament. Our biggest walleye weighed 8.8 pounds and our total for 6 fish was only 33.6 pounds. Best was jet 30's back 115 and the big one came in on a walker 82mm out 120 on a 3 setting with a purple poohbear scorpion. We ran a mix of scorpions and standards. Any color with purple was working.
  13. Hey Toxic, I fished a little out of Ashtabula Friday. Set up right out side the light houses trolled north and started marking fish right away. Caught 6 in a hurry, depth 45 foot, jet 40 back 100. Walker 82mm diver back 45-50 on a 0 setting and ran them off the boards. Storms where moving in from the west and had to head in.
  14. Bill, We saw that storm going over the lake from where we was at, it got a little windy by us but Mentor was about 15 miles away and the storm was moving NE.
  15. Storm Warning, I didn't post this pic on any other board, whats the link? The fish we caught were mostly in 48-52 feet of water. They have been running high, only about 20 down. Let me know next time your out on the lake I'll give you a holler on the radio, or cell.
  16. Great info, thanks toxic! We pulled fish with the divers set even shorter, 50 back on 3, and 40 on a 1 setting. Mostly copper Stingers and a couple silver. Your lucky you missed the storm it rained like crazy, one big red blob went right over Ashtabula.
  17. Hi all, I finaly did my first run of the season Saturday afternoon June 2, 2007. Headed out of Ashtabula and headed west towards Geneva, we set up 3 miles west of Geneva with Jet 40's, 30's, Walker 82mm & 107 mm divers. Scorpion and Standard Stingers, Jets back 90 on wire line and 115 on braided. Fished 48-53 feet of water, ended the day with 39 in the box and lost 6. I had 7 guys total onboard. Hot colors, spring chicken, mrs. pauls, holly christmas, blueberry muffin, seasick, clark kent.
  18. Hey Shu and Captain Crabass, I launched the boat thursday afternoon and she fired right up after a long winter. Doug are you going to launch at ARU or are you bringing the boat over by water? I was going to offer to help you navigate upstream if you need some help learning the channel route to the marina. It's not marked at all after you pass the railroad bridge. They have the river dredged upstream of the rail road bridge and it's very deep, 16 foot. Last year it was around 7 foot. Shu I have some work to do getting the boat ready but hope to get out on the lake next weekend, so if either of you guys want to go for the first voyage of the season let me know. I'll have a better idea as to what day I'll head out next week. Most likely it will be Saturday or Sunday.
  19. Hi all, what do these big blades represent? When trolling an attractor like this what exactally is it doing? Here's my answer from my partner. What this represents is a smolt crashing through a pod of bait, then the smolt will go back and eat the wounded. The bigger and more aggresive fish are attracted to whats going on, and come to over take a look. The bait behind the slasher is representing a wounded bait that has been hit by the smolt. For instance, a rainbow will plow through a pod of bait wounding several bait fish with it's tail, then turn back and chow the wounded. Right?
  20. I'm getting anxious about this tournament. I have an awesome team set up and I plan to fish it hard. I'm going to run nothing but Michigan Stinger Spoons and maybe even some walleye kits. For the trout, I have a secret weapon. Side kicks and slashers are on the list of tools. I don't get too excited about a lot of things but when it comes to a challenge look out.. My team will work it together, and make it happen. This is no threat, just confidence. Teamwork always pays off!!
  21. Looks yummy what time should I be over!
  22. Hi all, I've been plucking at this site for awhile now and I've been having a heck of a time coming up with a decent looking layout. I'm looking for a little feedback if anyone has time to take a look. I get to the point of looking at the page while working on it, then if I don't like it I'll start over until it looks decent. Arrrg. I still have a few more pages to add with links and contact info. here's the link http://www.goblincustoms.com/index.html Thanks for looking and all critics are welcome.
  23. Mike, Thats great news, I'm glad that solved your problem. Plus you got a couple nice filets too.
  24. Baydawg, I'll have to give them a try this spring. We mostly pull spoons for the trout over here.
