  1. Been out fishing since 2 pm. Started north of Pt Bestie and worked around into West Platte. Now working around to the east side of West Platte to go around to East Platte. Not marking too much but most markets have been in 50-70 fow. 1/2 right now. Got a small laker on a flasher fly.
  2. Nothing. Just tough conditions with the flip. Bait is on the beach or out past 200, maybe 300 feet of water.
  3. We tried that in Saugatuck for an hour with nothing. Then we switched up and trailered to Grand Haven. Ended up 5/7 in Grand Haven. 4 kings and a coho. All kings cought in 45 fow on plugs in front of the piers. One hour of chaos from 8 to 9 pm.
  4. Worked from 100 to 150 fow with a deep meet program. Nothing. And marking nothing deep. Switched to a shallow coho program and got 1 right away 35 down on a flasher fly. Meat rig just fired on diver back 55 feet. Worked 150 to 200 and back into 130 now.
  5. Tried a few passes as suggested but got nothing. Heading in. Going to run up to Grand Haven this afternoon.
  6. Lost another one on a plug. How to make these fish bite in the sun?
  7. Got an 18 lb hen on chrome red head plug. And just picked up a second brighter hen at 18.2 lbs.
  8. Fishing the pier heads. 0/1 so far. Marking good numbers of fish.
  9. Tried mooching at Manistee this evening. Had some chasers, but didn't get any takes.
  10. Got some and lost some this morning. Some jigging, some on skein.
  11. Yes. A few fish around, but water is mid 70s so they're not in much of a biting mood.
  12. Spending a week at a cottage with family up north. Had to bring the boat. Checked off jigging up a king tonight. Part of my yearly checklist. Might try mooching again Thursday.
  13. Full moon glow spoon program. Slow I guess? Hit a real nice coho at 10:30, a 13 lb king at 11:00, and had a big fish on the diver for an initial run, and then gone. Pulled lines at 12:30
  14. Was a tough bite for me tonight. I'm thinking I should have checked out 150-200 fow.
  15. Had another 2 fish swim in and attack? Enough of that. Glow spoon program is set. Trolling time.
  16. Had 4 fish swim after and appear to attack the bait. Haven't hooked any yet.
  17. Out in 100 fow. Will see what happens.
  18. I'll split this report into 3 sections, because we did a few things. Section 1 - Trolling - Trying to Find Fish Wanted to try something different, so brought my whole cured alewives and herring for a mooching trip. But first we needed to find some fish to work.We started trolling around 7 pm and trolled until 8:30 going 1/2 with a nice king on a meat rig in 93 fow, and another nice fish on a flasher fly that spit the hook in 105 fow. We were marking fish and bait at 8:30 so we stopped to try mooching. Section 2 - Mooching The two of us rigged up with a 3 and 4 oz weight and 6 foot leads, one with an alewife and another with a herring. Got the bait spinning nicely and started dropping and reeling the bait back up. We were in 90 fow. Between 8:30 pm and 9 pm we had about a dozen follows, but no hits. Right at 9 pm, the bait and fish seemed to disappear. So we ran in quickly to 55 fow to see if the fish had moved in. Worked back out to 70 fow slowly and didn't see a single big fish swim through, so we gave up on that mooching for the night. Section 3 - Glow Spoon - Moon Program At 1030 or so we switched over to a mag moonshine glow spoon program. Trolled out to 140 fow and hit 1 fish in 120 fow on a carbon 14 around midnight (diver back 55 feet). On our way back on a NNE troll, we too two more fish around 100 fow. Carbon 14 on the same diver, and a Double Trouble on a 150 copper took a fish. Right at 1 am, the moon got covered up by a cloud bank so we pulled lines and called it a night. All kings were 10-16 lbs, and very lively at the boat. Going to try mooching again, but this time will try to start earlier in the evening.
  19. Worked the night bite and found fish at 100 fow around midnight. Went 4/5, pulled lines at 1:15 am, after clouds hit the moon. Mag moonshine spoons. Divers back 55, 150 copper.
  20. Worked 70-100 trolling for an hour and went 1-2, king on a meat rig. Then switched to try mooching. Had about a dozen follows but no takes. Trolling again. Just took one king in 125 fow. Working out deeper. Bait vanished on us. We were in 60 fow and screen was blank.
  21. Good work! I'm heading out this evening to try bait fishing for those fish.
  22. Love the schools of coho. Make a great day when the kings aren't interested.
  23. I tried to copy some things from this video:
  24. I was working 100 into 65. Was drifting south. Passed over multiple schools of baitfish being worked by salmon.
  25. Went to Little Point last night to try something out. Always wanted to get fish offshore without trolling. Gave mooching a shot. Method I used is a whole alewife on a 6 foot leader with a 3 oz weight. Drop it to the bottom and then reel it back in. Alewife helicopter spins Well, it works for coho. Had a tough time keeping them hooked but landed 1. Had maybe 5 or 6 bites?
