  1. Or maybe will have to start a campaign to Bring Back the Bushy Beaver or BBBB. Can hold a vigil with everyone standing outside Big Weenie HQ rubbing their fingers up and down over their lips all night. Man, I need some sleep.
  2. Little bit tougher fishing today with no early bite to speak of. Had lines set at 5:30 AM and didn't get first bite until 7 AM. Everything came on south troll, 3 kings and lost a nice steelie when it got into my diver and stuck the hook in a knot of braid and fleas. 107 fow 13 lb king on Lucky Charm DW Captain's Choice plug on rigger 75 down. 104 fow 4 lb king on dipsey 195 back with wrapped laser lightsaver spindoctor and the no longer made Big Weenie Bushy Beaver. Gonna have a good long cry when I lose my last one of those. Double in 131 fow. Lost steelhead on 240 copper with the Lucky Charms plug and 3 lb king on 150 copper with RV blue flounder pounder.
  3. Good work! I did hear you out there but we seemed to be having communication issues
  4. Actually I don't mind Cu which is the proper abbreviation. It's one thing to abbreviate, it's another to be in too much of a hurry to hit the caps key
  5. It never fails, first trip out after Big Red Classic and have a good morning. Again fished between Tunnel Park and the stacks. Set lines in 80 fow and trolled NW, took 6 hits in 100-110 fow. Had a midmorning lull for 90 min then began picking them off again with 5 hits in 150-160 fow. 5 kings 10-13 lbs, 1 steelie and one laker. Lost a steelie and king at the boat. Had first double of the year but only got one to the boat. Rigger with Green Metallic/Glow/White Spindoctor and Proctologist fly took hits down 80 and then 90. Stinger Monsoon on rigger 65 down also went. 300 copper with Dreamweaver Captains Choice blue spatterback plug took one hit. 240 copper with same brand plug but Lucky Charm pattern took 4 hits. Braid dipsey 180 back with Big Weenie Last Brunch and UV spindoctor had 3 hits. Speed didn't seem to matter as long as it was in the 2's. North south troll
  6. Should push the fish out deeper. Don't know it will help other than that since it had set up slightly for the past 1-2 weeks.
  7. Pretty much fished the same water from Tunnel Park to Port Sheldon in 80 - 100 feet all week. Wednesday went 4 for 4 with 2 kings 2 steelhead. Thursday no fishing too bumpy. Friday 2 for 5 for the Ladies tournament 1king 1 steelie. Saturday 5 for 9 including first coho of the year, 3 kings and 1 chromer. Sunday 1 for 1. Started out looking like it was going to be a good day with first hit off rigger 80 down in 85 fow, but just couldn't get anything more going. Moved out to 130 with no marks past 110 fow. Pulled lines with waves in the 3-4 foot range about 30 min before the announcement to cancel the rest of the day. Kings were all pretty much cookie cutter in the 10-12 lb range, steel about 6-8 and coho about 5. Ran 5 color, 7 color, 150 copper and 225 copper in addition to 3 riggers and braid dipseys and all took hits except for my mid depth rigger. Best however were RV blue flounder pounder on 150 copper, Glow/metallic green on white spindoctor with Big Weenie proctologist off the deep rigger, and my usual Big Weenie Bushy Beaver and Last Brunch flies off the dipseys 120 - 165 feet back. All in all fishing wasn't fast 'n furious but pretty consistent and better than the prior two months. Looks like it might be back to square one again after this blow.
  8. Had just put lock jaw on it, probably would have lost if if not for that
  9. It looks as if things are starting to come together out on the big lake with a little bit warmer water. Set lines north of the channel in 60 fow and pretty much fished 70 - 110 fow for the rest of the morning. Finished 6 for 9 with 2 steelhead, 2 small laker and 2 kings. Lost 2 kings and one steelhead. Finally had a decent morning bite with 4 hits between 6 and 7 AM, then pretty much picked em off steady for the rest of the morning pulling lines at noon. Trolling speed was 2.5 to 2.9 at the ball, and took hits in all directions. 225 copper with Dreamweaver blue spatterback plug to one hit before it went bye-bye thanks to a frisky steelhead pulling the board under and snapping the backing. Did manage to save the board though. 150 copper with Moonshine RV blue Flounder Pounder took 3 hits. Braid dipsey on 3 135 back with UV crush/slick Spindoctor and Big Weenie Last brunch took 2 hits. Braid dipsey on 3 150 back with wrapped laser lightsaver spindoctor and Big Weenie Bushy Beaver took 3 hits.
  10. All things considered not a bad day out there except for the thunder and lightning. Finished 2/2 before pulling lines to get in ahead of the storm. King on braid dipsey 90 back with Big Weenie Bushy Beaver and wrapped laser lightsaver spindoctor in 50 fow. Small laker, keeper but threw it back anyway, on rigger 75 down in 110 fow with Big Weenie Proctologist and Metallic green/glow spindoctor. King came about halfway between Holland and Port Sheldon, laker just off stacks.
  11. Only twice? She can't be too mad at you then. Doctor Hook is in
  12. Yah, next time out gonna leave the boat slipped and plow the beach on the John Deere for land sharks and sand trout.
  13. Still slow out there, 1 for 1 today with 4 lb steelhead on 5 color with double orange crush in 115 fow. Set lines in 40 fow, went SW out to 200 then NE back to 150. Very few marks.
  14. Nothing really to report for the 3rd. Went out Friday morning with the really cold water in tight. I decided to start relatively deep and head out for warmer water. Set lines in 120 fow and trolled out to 190. Found 60 deg surface temp at about 170 and stayed that way until I turned around at 190. No fish out there, had marks about 130-150 fow, but just couldn't get anything to go. Decided to try the evening bite on the 4th, since the crew wanted to see the fireworks and morning bite has been non-existent. Set lines in 90 fow just south of Port Sheldon at 6 pm and did zig-zag between 120 and 140 fow all the way to Holland. Right at dusk had 2 hits in 120 fow. Lost one on dipsey set on 3 135 back with wrapped laser lightsaver Spindoctor and Big Weenie Bushy Beaver. Boated one on 300 copper with blue spatterback Dreamweaver plug. Never been so happy to be 1/2 in my life.
  15. Was hoping for a better mid week report before the holiday weekend for all you out there, but had to cut the trip short. Big waves didn't mix well with the crew today. 0/1 today with only hit on braid dipsey set to 3 100 back in 110 fow. Think it may have hit on a surge from the waves, once I noticed the change in rod tension and pulled it in I was missing another UV Crush/UV Slick Spindoctor and Big Weenie Last Brunch Fly. Fished 70-110 fow starting just north of Spyglass. Was hoping the colder water moved em in but didn't really see any good marks today.
  16. No anklebiters to own or rent for Tots and Trout, er Kids and Kings, this morning so took co-worker's family out for fishing on the lake. Left the dock at 4:30 AM and set lines in 60 fow north of the channel again after seeing some good marks. Had drifted out to 80 fow by the time all lines were in so made a pass back in to 60 but the marks were gone, so headed back out. First hit came in 77 fow, 4 lb king on mag Lemonberry off rigger 55 down. Went out to 150 fow with lots of good marks 130 - 140 fow, but with big waves and no bites headed back in. Fished 90 - 110 for the rest of the morning. Had a hit on RV blue Flounder Pounder on 150 copper that came off when it got into my 300 copper and my dipsey. Thought I had a big mess on my hands but somehow they miraculously separated once I got the boards off. Took another hit on braid dipsey 110 back on 3 with UV crush Spindoctor and Big Weenie Last Brunch fly that bent the swivel, so said good bye to my favorite flasher fly combo. Last hit came on 5 color with gold double orange crush SuperSlim, but no one home once the board came off.
  17. Thought I heard you out there, but I could barely make it out. Could be your radio or could be the solar flare.
  18. Set lines at 5 AM in 90 fow and worked the water north of the channel for a change. Best marks were 95-115 but had sporadic marks all the way out to 180. Trolled out to 210 fow before trolling back in and calling it quits. Temperature seems pretty uniform all over but when probe was about 80 down ran into slight break with temp dropping from 48 to 46 just beyond 120 fow. Finished the day 0/3 with most hits coming on N or NW troll 2.6-2.9 at the ball. First hit came in 95 fow with Dreamweaver Alygator on 7 color. Backing snapped on the first run losing core, board, lure and fish. Next hit came on downrigger 50 down with Warrior Lemondrop and was gone by the time anyone got to the rod. Last hit came on braid dipsey set to 3 with UV Spindoctor and Big Weenie Last Brunch fly 150 back.
