Thanks to Dave and Dan for putting on a very informative seminar. Learned a lot and got lots of goodies.

Im all for it if the date works out.

I've caught limits of kings in 4-6 foot rollers.
Probably not the best idea but if you can get your speed right then the rest is just fishing. Can be tough though.

I feel like I fall into what dave is talking about.
I've thought about entering am or even pro in some tourny's, but I just dont have the money. It costs me $100 easy just to fish at all let alone a 2 day tourny, plus any prefishing.
This is why I like the smaller leagues. I have the competition of a tourny without spending $1,000.
It just seems with the 50-60 boats fishing the amature division the costs would be a bit lower, but I guess it depends on the finances.

I see michigan advertising the ice on the beach in july as a way to cool off. lol

I use scotty riggers and scotty releases. I can set the tension so darn tight the rod will snap or light enough to have a coho pop it.

Hey russell,
Ill see you at your booth
Green dots variants were by far my best flashers last year. Only rod to take a hit every trip.

A slide diver allows you to set the lure distance as far behind the diver as you want without having to handline the leader at the boat.
Never used em but heard a lot about em. Also heard new weights are being made this year to get slide divers up to 150' down.
Somebody who knows more will probably chime in.

Check out next weeks temperature and you will see spring is not here yet. Do not understand the robbins we have had them around all winter.
If there is sufficient forage robins will stay all year.
-
I wonder if there's any fish near enough you could get em though the ice.

Got my wire tag results back. Figured I'd share.

i mostly run big weenie combos.
Whitey on the moon HD
UV purple death
Cracked Ice Blue/Glow UV
and i have some capt john king rigs aswell.
Chrome head 2 teaser green is my favorite.
Run SLOW, like laker slow. and i use blue and green label brined whole herring with tails still attched. I also take the time to fine tune the roll just the way i like it.
And alewives if i catch any and brine em.

There has been a lot of debate this past year as to the true running depths of copper, especially after blood run posted some test results showing much shallower running depths then normally thought.
The only real way for me is when It snags bottom. and ive found that to be varying from day to day.

I've got a box full of Tots. Great old lure. I've also got a bunch of Fishcatcher flashers that came out before the Spin Doctors that I used to catch a lot of fish on I'll have to dust off this summer. Also I should break out the old Flatfish in the spring for browns/salmon and even summer for lakers more.
Ive got a whole box of Fishcatcher flashers, and even some crazy corkscrew looking ones.
Im gunna try some experimenting this year...

Shane' date='
I was ridding the down rigger down 90' and catching them with my bare hands. You have no excuses.
Hope to see some new faces this year![/quote']
Thats not fair. They prolly just keeled over when they saw your ugly mug and were easy to catch.

Nice job!
you fishing state side?

Ive used a happy troller plate on my boat for a few years.
It works, but can be a pain in the but for inconsistent speed and direction control, especially in waves.
Now I use buckets with one large 3 inch hole in the bottom. zero problems and a hell of a lot cheaper.

gas money never goes unwanted!

Does the TX22 run any different or better then a walleye board?
I have been using walleyes for all my longlines, just curious if their is a better option.
And on that note, you guys who run TX44's, do you find them helpfull? ive heard of it pulling so hard so sometimes miss fish.
