  1. I use walleye boards instead of tx-22's. Despite the name they pull better then tx-22's.

I pull full cores and 300' 45lb copper with em. They do lag back a bit with full cores especially but work none the less.

Long lines will bounce and move around with the waves, this is normal. I just set the drag just high enough to not let the board pull out on its own. When a fish hits the drag peels out. I also don't set my boards to release.

Even 4 pound steelies made a noticeable pull on the drags.

  2. lately its been a spoon bite and fast like 3.0-3.5 SOG

did have a couple days where flasher/flies really shined at this speed aswell.

Normally im at 2.3-2.7 SOG range with an even balance of each.

If im running a plug heavy setup (august) then im running em slow like 1.7-2.1 sog usually, and a couple super slims or stingers which run better slow then mags.

Of course always let the fish keep you honest. Sometimes a plug run at 3.0 is hot, or a flasher/fly reaaaaly slow just pounds em. Mix it up and listen to the fish.

  3. As far as channel fishing:

I usually run slow. very slow. but in holland channel last year combat fishing everybody was moving fast, 2.7 - 3.3 SOG.

Instead of being ran over and causing a headache for others i sped up to about the same.

I did catch a few but find myself going slower to be better, at least for the spread i was running.

  4. Is there a maximum water depth to look for or just where you find them?

    al

There no maximum. When you find kings 75+ feet down big paddles with longer leads on flies always seem to work.

Ive used paddles 160 down in 220FOW and caught fish.

Mid day/high sun I switch it for a meat rig with a big paddle.
