  1. The key to meat rigs is getting the right roll. slow and seductive is what you want, 1 -2 rolls per second.

I use john king meat rigs mostly, i like them a little better then big weenies. Also the 10 and 12 inch meat paddles from john king or the big weenie look a likes are good. I dont like spin doctors with meat.

I also mix up strips and whole bait. Fresh does work but brined holds up better.

  2. Will you mark them on bottom? Yes.

Not always but you certainly can if you know what your looking for on your particular sonar. Sometimes the fish are in one specific area so I drive around a bit and see if i have any good marks. I also dont stay in one depth more then 40ish mins without a hit. Usually you will find at least a couple hits an hour if your around em.

Ask dave ash "killin it" about fishing lakers. He knows quite a bit.

As far as areas the closer you to get saugy area the better they are. You should still be able to find some in PS though.

  3. Hey man 4 for 6 with a 15lber beats my first 6 trips.

Read the reports and follow pattern between em. Depths temperatures colors etc. You will sometimes find a pattern between successful outings reported. That along with looking for temp breaks will help you find fish each trip. If your really not sure then a west troll with a little north/south in it is a good way to cover water and find fish. If you get a hit then turn north/south and see if you can get more hits.

Speed for me is my biggest issue as I dont have a speed probe. Making wide "S" turns can help you zone in on a specific speed or direction the fish are hitting at. If most of your hits are on the rods on the inside of the turn then slow down a bit when you go straight. the opposite for outside of turns.

Don't always follow the pack either. I often do better on busy days by going off in LA LA land by myself.

  4. I had some fish smoked last September that I just found in the fridge. I had it done at big o smoke house. It is vacuum sealed.

Looks fine but I've been reading mixed information on how long vacuum sealed fish will be safe for in the refrigerator.

    What do you think?

  5. I'm not near the boat so I do not know how stiff the rods are but they are Okuma copper rods

I use the same rods, they will bounce a bit but its normal.

I have the weights set all the way forward on my boards and get decent operation with 2 boards on either side. Im going to try moving them back just a bit on lighter setups to see how they go.

And a tip for setting the drag. I find with my convectors that the "sweet spot" is right where the board doesnt pull out, but I can reel in without any line coming in. If it clicks every now and then I just let it go, but in bigger waves/higher speeds I have to turn the dags 1 or 2 more clicks forward.
