  1. Get metal pins. Your pin may have been worn and had a sharp edge. Happened to me
  2. Yeah a bit deeper my guess is 120 to 150 find the thermocline
  3. If I remember correctly the DNR aims to have average adult king size around 17 to 18 pounds. Nice job out there. It was beautiful once it calmed down
  4. Strange how fleas weren't so bad down here this year so far. Sounds like up by the point got it bad
  5. Just a thought here -- in years past there was a role call around 8am to see who had showed up. Maybe start that again?
  6. If you land 50% of the steelhead that hit you're doing pretty good. Short cores with orange pink or green does well. I like stingers and superslims. Faster speed is good too. 3.0 or faster at the ball.
  7. I wasn't expecting them running 2.2 2.3 at the ball but I sure enjoyed the show. One hit the 3 color before the board was set so he had to be all up in my wash...
  8. Launched around 530pm and ran south and setup in 90 on a SSW. Fished between 90 and 115 making a figure 8 just north of saugy. All but 1 fish came on south troll. Ended 7 for 11. 4 for 4 on lakers - tin can green spin glow on rigger off bottom 2 for 5 on steel - 200 copper stingray bloody nose, 3 color orange UV Superslim, rigger down 60 stinger green slush. 1 for 1 king shaker - wire 135 back spotted dick meat rig. Chunky lakers and healthy steelhead going airborne plus a beautiful sunset. Speed over ground around 3 to get 2.3 at ball going south. With or without kings it was a fun trip and great to have action
  9. Muskegon has picked up recently 70 to 140 50 to 80 down with meat rigs. That's the word I've been hearing.
  10. Got thru piers around 630 and ran a little north and setup in 80 to 130 on a SW. Ended up almost to saugy when storm hit so we ran into the river to wait it out. We were 2 for 2. 10 lb laker on wire diver 270 back green spin n glow trash can, and a 10lb king rigger 60 rv flounder pounder. After the storm we went back out and setup in same line and got 3 more lakers on trash can rigs on divers 260 to 280 back. 2 on green spin n glow trash can and 1 on yellow spin n glow green/white trashcan. Winds strong from east and current ripping hard towards shore made it difficult so we left. 5 for 5 overall.
  11. I think he's saying it's insane because the numbers of alewives still need to go way up before planting more kings.
  12. Hmm good point I guess it just seems like GH and muskegon have been doing well in the mud and offshore this spring
  13. The ports with good natural reproduction are doing okay. Otherwise it's lakers for the most part. The lake certainly is changing just not as terrible as most think. I caught an 18lb non clipped fish in front of holland this weekend so they are around just not like 2012
  14. Like this weekend? Probably ok if I can get a crew
  15. 130 hp 2 stroke johnson ocean pro. Average trip 50$ plus 10$ in oil. If I need bags even more
  16. Spent my Saturday soaking up sun rays and biting flies with some good friends. Fished wmfl out of south haven and setup in 130 fow a little north on a NW. We ended up doing circles NW and SE between 140 to 170 in the same line patterning steelhead. Ended up 3 for 8. Stinger UV pickle seed on both 200 coppers was the best. Also took one on rigger down 65 with uv veggies and missed on on slider uv watermelon. After we left we heard holland was loaded in tight so we headed that way for the night bite. Got thru the pierheads and there was cold water 10 down to bottom. All the boat traffic had it pretty bear up so we tried offshore until later. Worked out to 200 marking fishin in 80 zone and 130 zone but nothing going for us. As the sun got low we got back into 25fow. 845pm we hooked up on 5 color with green splatter back glow ace high plug. Landed 18lb female king. (No find clip) she was full of ales. Shortly after, diver set 3 back 30 goes off with moonshine green jeans mag. Get another big fish behind boat only to snap leader. Tons of bait and fish in there just couldn't get anymore to go as sun was setting. Long day for only 4 fish but an 18lber makes it all ok. =)
  17. No I mean kings were in tight. Got an 18lber in 25 fow and missed another.
