  1. So this was a busy weekend for me fishing wise. Started out Friday night taking my uncle on my mom's side and a couple of his friends out. Heard that the fishing was pretty good up north so motored halfway to Portsheldon and set lines in 100 FOW heading north. Missed the first three fish of the night on a UV BW meat rig and BLL Green Kato on the riggers. Found a ton of bait just south of PS in 135 and marked it on the GPS. Shortly later hooked up with a nice steelie on a 5 color with a BLL Mod Blue Veggie on it. Spent the rest of the night working the bait and ended up going 8 for 12 on the night with 3 being identical 14.5 lb kings. Pulled lines around 10:30 when the fishing shut off. Summary: 135-139 FOW 2.6 MPH GPS North and South trolls BW UV meat rig 105 on rigger- 2 hits, one undersized laker BLL Green Kato 60 down on rigger - 1 hit BLL Patriot on 300 copper - 1 hit, 1 king UV SpinDoctor with BLL Blue Dolphin teaser rig on 250 copper - 2 kings Silver Streak Mag U of M Frog on diver 160 back - 2 kings BLL Mod Blue Veggie on 5 color - 2 Steelhead Saturday morning I had one of my uncle's from my dad's side, his brother from California, his brother's son, and my sister out. We started in the same spot as Friday and started of quick with two fish in the boat before we had half the lines set. After that it slowed way down for us. Didn't get another fish for an hour and a half. Had a spree at about 10:00 when we got a double to two big fish on the coppers. Each had about 150 yards of backing off the reels, but one bit though the leader on the teaser rig and the other just managed to come loose. Ended up 5 for 7 with 3 kings and 2 steelhead. Summary: Same water and speed as Friday Silver Streak Mini Blue Mango freeslider on rigger at 60 - 1 king 11 Pro Trol with Poofster fly on rigger at 80 - 1 king Moonshine Raspberry Carbon on 300 Copper - 1 king, 1 hit UV SD with BLL teaser rig on 250 Copper- 1 hit Silver Streak Mini U of M frog on 10 color - 1 Steelhead BLL Mod Blue Veggie on 5 color - 1 Steelhead Saturday night we launched at 5:00 but had to wait for the storm cells to blow over. Set lines around 6:15 in the same water as I fished the previous two trips. Our first fish came on the 250 copper with the same uv spindoctor with teaser rig and took us about 45 min to land with the boat as slow as it could go. Only ended up being around 12 lb, but fought hard. Next fish was a king on the diver 180 back with a green DW spoon, don't know the name though, that was a smaller king. While changing downrigger lures found a shaker on a BLL Blue Kato. Last fish of the night was a nice steelhead on a 5 color with a mag Double Orange Crush. called it quits around 8:30 after getting lucky with the 10 color meeting the motor and the waves building. Some pictures: This was from Friday night. Couldn't ask for a nicer night to be out.
  2. Nice job, we will also be out tonight and Saturday AM.
  3. I'll try to get you one tomorrow Mike if no one else has gotten you one by then
  4. Completely agreed, I stop in there about once a week on my way home from school to pick up stuff and get a fishing report. Between them and Lakeshore Outfitters down in Saugy, I buy all of my equipment locally. Oh, and if they don't have something, just ask. They special ordered stuff for me before, though they have stopped dealing Walker products because of some supply issues.
  5. Drag is a parabolic function of speed, so the more you let out the more the line will bow. At some point you won't get any more depth because there is so much drag on the line. (Sorry for the engineer talk )
  6. I will second that Just kidding P.S. Payne Restoration just redid our deck and did a good job.
  7. lol, check if lowe's or somewhere like that has a pipe plug that would work
  8. Well, after canceling plans to take a friend from school, his girlfriend's dad and brother out Saturday morning, rescheduled the trip for this morning. I was watching the weather closely and was a bit skeptical to say the least of the 1ft or less wave prediction with 10 to 15 knot winds. Well my skepticism proved to be founded and NOAA changed the forecast overnight to be 1 to 3's. We launched the boat to 5:10 and set up in 80 FOW heading due north with the steady 2's that greeted us. We got our first three hits before we had all of the lines set. Unfortunately, we failed to land any of the fish. We then proceeded to troll for 45 minutes without a hit. We finally got another fish when we were about even the the PS stacks. Chris got to land his first ever salmon which was a king around 10 lbs. Shortly later we got another hit as we were turning to head back south which Chris also landed, a king around 5 lbs. By this point the waves had grown to steady 3's with some 4's mixed in for good measure. Immediately after we boated the second fish, Chris decided to help out by adding some chum to the water. Deciding that going into the waves was probably not helping the sea sickness issue, we turned around back north to go with the waves. We ended the day missing two more on a tin can dragging bottom, pulling lines shortly before 9:00 with Chris hanging over the side of the boat. Overall, tough fishing. What worked: 70 to 88 FOW 2.6 MPH SOG North and South Trolls Big Lake Lures Miami Dolphin free slider on rigger at 60 Big Lake Lures Mag 007 on rigger at 60 Mag Blue Dolphin on 250' #45 copper Mag SS Green Kato on 250' #32 copper Regular SS Green Splatter Glow on 7 color White Tin Can with Lime/yellow spin-n-glow on rigger dragging bottom PS - Thanks to Dave Ash for coming along and helping run the boat.
  9. Thanks for the report 90 FOW was also good out of Holland this weekend.
  10. Well, since I'm up anyway and this morning doesn't look very promising for fishing weather wise, I'll post up my report for last night. Went out with a couple of buddies from high school. Got lines set around 6:30 in 100 FOW between Holland and Suagy. Trolled on a 30 heading and got our first fish at 95 which was a bruiser around 16 lbs. After the first fish action was steady to hot and heavy. Started out with a great batting average of 6 for 6 and ended up with a horrible average of 10 for 20ish. We missed at least the last 5 hits we had. Pulled lines at 9:30 with lightning out the the west. Best water was 85 to 95 FOW Best troll was the little bit of a south troll that we did turning around Best SOG was 2.4 MPH Lures that worked: UV 8" SD with Big Lake Lures Blue Dolphin Teaser rig 80 out on the wire diver was hot - got at least 2 in the boat and got smoked a couple of more times 11" white Pro-trol with white glow crush/fishscale with Big Weenie Proctoligist fly 120 out on the other wire diver was also hot - boated a couple of fish and got a few more hits Big Lake Lures Green Kato got some on the 250 #45 Copper Big Lake Lures Mag 007 (Happy Meal with a green Ladder back) on the rigger at 40 down with a Craigs Christmas free slider took a few Big Lake Lures Miami Dolphin with a Silver Streak Hot Lobster free slider at 60 down also took a couple Right now I forget what was on the 7 and 10 colors that we caught on but I will update this when I get back out in the boat and see.

  12. Sorry this report is a little late. Headed out Friday night after work with a Co-worker, his son, my brother, and two of my buddies from school. Ran north of Holland and started setting lines in 60 FOW. Spent the night working our way south between 100 and 140 FOW where we were marking a lot. Ended the night 6 for 11 or so. What worked: BW BlueBubble/White Crush Paddle with Rubber Poofster fly 90 down on rigger 8" White Slick/Fishscale Protrol with Proctoligist fly 175 back on the high diver BLL Blue Kato on the 10 color BLL Patriot on the 300' Copper Silver Streak U of M frog as free slider on rigger at 75 BLL Mod Blue Veggie on 7 color Had a really big fish on the 10 color, peeled off 200 yards of line but we had a rookie on the rod and he let a little too much slack in the line and we lost the fish. Beside that we had one fish around 12 with the rest being smaller cookie cutter kings. Planned on fishing WMFL Saturday morning so slipped the boat overnight. Woke up to a cold, breezy morning with lightning off to the north and stormcells coming across the lake. Ken made the right call and called off the tourny, but since the boat was in the water and it looked like the weather might clear we decided to go out for breakfast and try after that. Well when we started fishing it was slow for us. I think we got on the water about 8:00 and at 11:00 we were 2 for 2. We found a few fish in 110 FOW and ended the morning putting 3 more in the box including a 17 lb. king. What worked: BLL Blue Kato on 10 color BLL Miami Dolphin on 300 Copper Silver Streak U of M frog on free slider at 65
