  1. I have run the GM roller rods for the 2 past years, and no problems with the wire jumping. The rollers are the same aftco rollers the shimanos use. Our gander has them for $99. Rich
  2. Sorry Mike, have been away form the puter. Yes, mostly my spoons and sticks. I will spray them down after I put them on the clip, and will not touch them again until I take them off. Again, not sure if this helps, but it does not hurt. Just glad you can't see what the other bottle is. lol Rich
  3. LMAO, if you look at most of my boat pics you will see it there. I can not tell you it is an attractant, or if it just keeps the human scent off the lures. But I will tell you it does not hurt my percentages. SO if it is not broke don't fix it. Rich
  4. Mike, That is for sure, he is supposed to be back home in October, fingers crossed. Rich
  5. Thanks Mike for the update. Keep us posted, I have still not decided what to do with my other setup yet. Good Luck. Rich
  6. We rolled into town on Saturday, meet with west winds and waves building so we put the boat at the dock and got it all rigged. Sunday was worse than Saturday, WNW winds with waves 6-8' so we sat at the dock again. Monday I knew it was game on, light west winds, and sun. Left the dock a little late, I have dad, his older brother, and we had to wait for my friend Mac to get here. I set the first rod, which was my probe rigger, and attached to that was the Pin. Down 50', set the rubber band on the handles, turned around, and I hear fish fish fish. We are locked into our first king of the trip. Mac was allowed to put the first king of the season, and on the pin in the SEADUCKTION for the year. A nice teenager. Put the fish in the box, set the rigger again, did not have the second rod riggered and the pin fires again. This time it is my turn on the pin, it was game on. After a good battle we netted a sweet high teens KING. I would est. it weighed 19 or 20lbs. Took a pic and let that big boy go, hope to see him in our end of the lake in a few weeks. We after that we settled in, took fish off the riggers and the dipseys. NBK Mag, Spin dr., or echip all pulling ATOMMIK flies. We ended the day going 8 for 10, with 4 for 5 on the pin. We will be heading out tomorrow, so will have another report toorrow. If you want a little fun, put that pin in the rigger for kings. Good Luck, till tomorrow. ok here are a few of the pics: First king on the pin. Mac with another king taken on the dipsey with an echip ATOMMIK fly. Unlce Bob with his first spring king. A pic of the cooler, we kept 5 for the freezer, I let the biggest one go, hope see that brute this fall. 5-19 Ok we got a little earlier start this morning, heard the winds were supposrd to kick up. We set up the same area, straight out, at our marks the fish were down on the bottom unlike yetserday. Did not run the pin today, wanted dad and my uncle to have fun. Took a little bit to figure out what they wanted but we were able to bring a few aboard. ended the morning going 5 for 7 with all of them being 19-22lbs. All fish came on White echips or Spin Drs pulling ATOMMIK flies, I will tell you those new live action flies really produce. I will have to loook up the name and post it. Our last 2 came as a double with waves approaching 4-5foot, so we called it after getting the last in the boat. I took some video, and pics, which I will post when I got home, forgot my camera wire. I will say we are looking good for kings the size we had last fall. All of our fish today we were released. The dipseys were the ticket out 275 on a 2.5 setting. Hope to get out this afternoon. May 20, Well the wind was supposed to pick up again so we headed out early again. It was just the 3 of us again, so I set a 6 rod spread with 3 riggers, 2 wire dipseys, and one 2 color core with 3 oz of weight off the board. We started slow, but it picked up real fast. The pin was back in the rigger again, and again it took fish. We ended the day going 9 for 14, with one triple, and one Quad plus one. Yup we had 5 rods go, talk about fire drill. We got 3 out of the 5. Could have used a few extra hands that morning. Same program with the NBK mag on pin parked at 50'. White echips pulling the ATOMMIK net pen flies, proam flies, or the new double color fly, not sure of the name. These fish were not quite as big, but we did get a couple that were tipping the scales at 18-20lbs. We fished straight out of port, from 85-125 fow. Riggers were parked at 50,69,85. Dipseys were out 225 and 300. This one came on the new Savant Crusher spoon. Every wonder what it is like to fish with the REAL Grumpy Old Men, well I can tell you. lol May 21 Ok last day of our trip, we fished for 3.5 hours, and it was one to remember. I had my buddy Chris with us this am. He was out with his family in their boat for the same days we were there. With his boat on the trailer, and the kids wanting to go back to the falls, he was free to join us for our short trip. It was on from the word go. Same program, 6 rods, the fish wanted the wires bad that day. We ended up going 7 for 9 in 3.5 hours, with 6 of the hits coming off the wire. We got a couple small fish, but we also had a couple in the mid teens, and one pushing the 20lb mark. This was Chris's last trip for kings before heading back to Iraq for another couple of months, so I was happy that he was able to leave Wilson with sore arms on his last day. Thanks Chris for what you guys/girls do for us over there, and get your as s back here safe, we have chromers to catch this fall. I have more pics and video to post, so keep your eyes open. Enjoy. The ATOMMIK live series fly in the net pen pattern were smoking behind the White/glow Spinny or echip. The Stinger NBK Mag took its share of fish also. The Savant Crusher in the diehard pattern (called NBK by the company) was coming on strong the last 2 days. Rich
  7. Great Job Rick, Save some for us, we will be in town Saturday pm till next thursday. Hope to see yo uthere. Rich
  8. This is my second season with the DR, and it is AWESOME. I will never fish without one again. Like was stated before, the probe is in the water all the time, does not matter what depth of water I am in. Good Luck you will love it. Rich
  9. If you take out the wire they could be used as a slider, but you would have to attach them to the cable before termination. I am hearing that he may be producing and actual slider release, I will be fishing with Keith in 2 weeks and will ask if this is the case. Worth the extra $$$ IMHO, Good Luck. Rich
  10. Thanks Mike, sorry to hear that, hope everything is ok. Keep us posted, I am sure you will. Rich
  11. Sean, I would start with it about half way, you should have not false releases due to the rod. If you are running into some smaller shakers then you might want to loosen it up a tad. Once you get it where you want it, you are all set. I do not tighten mine up until August, that is when the jaws on the matures really start to get hard. you do not need to twist it that many times, but if it makes you feel better you can. I usually go 6-10 max, never had a problem with it slipping, so far, knock on wood. Rich
  12. Did you get a chance to run it today Mike, or did you get blown off? I am looking to give it a go on one of my rods to start, but still up in the air. Thanks. Rich
  13. Sean, They are IMHO the best release out there right now. I have used them since last spring, from Bt's right up to kings. I have used them from 5' down to 150', and have never had a small fish come up without it tripping the release. I can crank my rods right down to the water, and still have a small shaker release it like a king. I used to run roemers for over 15 years, and now have sold everyone I have. Like was said before, twist the line 10-15 times and lock it into the release. I have my upper adjustment tight, so I can crank the rods right down, a lot less line blow back than other releases. Depending what fish I after is how I adjust the bottom setting. For kings in the late summer early fall I tighten it right down to drive those hooks home on the release. most other times of the year I am running about 1 pound tension, but will up it when I know the kings are in the area. Once you get them set, they are one of the easiest to use. Good Luck, and if you have any questions, the owner Keith will answer any questions you have. Rich
  14. Great job mike, I am hoping to splash on Friday, but the weather is not playing fair here in CNY. thanks for the HO porn, lol will post my lake porn asasp. Rich
  15. My cousin was in town for the holiday so we got together for a couple of hours of fishing. We hit the Salmon river, and the kids decided they were going to put on a show. Here are the pics, not bad for 2.5 hours of fishing, all fish released. Bryn was 1 for 2, because dad forgot the net, trust me I will never live it down. But she had fun, here is her BT: Dominick's sweet dropback pig: Video to come soon. My cousin with his first Center Pin fish, I think he is going to join the darkside: It is starting to heat up, it is just going to get better, going to be tough to decide if I want to fish the river or the lake for the next month. Enjoy. Rich
  16. I had the pleasure of being able to fish with Capt Steve of Angling Adventures on Tues 4-14-09, it was the little guy's day for sure. We started a little later, this was going to be a fun trip for all. We floated the upper, saw fish through the whole float. I think the final tally was 13 or 14 hooked, and 5 in the boat, but the little guy got 4 out of the 5, and hooked 5 on his own. Fish came on sacs and PW's differant colors were working well. With the high sun the bite died after noon, it got pretty tough, but we managed a few more. I have not figured out if Green Dolphin wanted to fish, or just eat lunch. From 8 am on he wanted to know when the cooker was coming out. lol OK enough of the talk, here are the pics, all fish were released to fight another day. The only down fall I saw on our trip was the ungodly amount of TRASH on the banks, and I am talking along the whole bank. Steve and I talked we are hoping to get a cleanup day set up to try and pick up some of the trash. All it takes is a few minutes on your way out to grab a small bag of trash and the banks would look much better. GD and I want to Thank Steve for a wonderful day on the river, and if you want to learn the river he is a top notch guide, and knows the river like the back of his hand, just like most of the others here. We look forward to getting out again, now I have to figure a way to even up the numbers between GD and SHP. lol Rich
  17. After waking up and feeling much better from the nasty stomach bug, I decided I needed to hit the river for a couple of hours. I headed to the upper river, with the water flow still a little high and cold from runoff, the fish were shut off. I headed down river and found a spot where a few fish wanted to play. 6 for 6 in less than 2 hours, 2 Bt's, and 4 steelies, 2 being small skippys, and 2 nice silver sides. Enjoy the pics, will be in a DB on tues with the little guy, hope to have some more porn. All fish were CPR'd, so they are still there guys. It is only going to get better from here on out. Will be working on the boat, hoping for splash down next weekend. Good Luck. Rich

  19. I ran the firewolf for 3 years with the twilli with no problems. I sold it just a month ago to upgrade to another roller. I would highly recomend the twilli, as stated before it will save you numerous headaches with twists and kinks. Good Luck. Rich
  20. Thanks Mike, it sure was cold out there that day. Come on Spring, I want to be on the boat so bad. Rich
  21. Well it was a planned trip for Empty Hooks birthday to hit the river with a few friends. If we would have know it was going to be -15 we would have not scheduled it this weekend. We had to get on the river to get "the spot", and it worked. It started from the word go and did not stop until we left, and then I heard it continued after we left. Tally was between 17-20 landed, and atleast half that again lost, all steelies except on coho. Bags, beads and PW's were the ticket, we had 3 doubles and 1 triple. I asked Popeye if he was interested on joining us since he was in town. Wish it was not cold, but he was able to get his first SR steelie to the bank, and on the pin no less. Biggest fish was around 13-14lbs, with many in the 7-10lb range. It was a fun day with great friends, and look forward to do it again soon. Enjoy the pics. All fish released except the coho. Good Luck. Rich Wonder who this bundle up warrior is:
  22. LMAO about the net job. I told him he needs to turn the net over the next time. He is not used to looking to see if the hoop is up or down, lol I will train him yet. We were on the Salmon RIver in Pulaski NY, it is going to be cold this week, not sure I will get back there, or if I have to wait till next week. Love those winter chromers. Rich
