  1. Well I was able to get the little guy up to the river without his sister, so it was all about him. We started down low, was looking to see if we could find a freshie or 2 to play, but it did not work out. We headed to the upper river and met up with my buddy. Even with all the rain, the warm temps had the river lined up with anglers. We ended up going 2 for 3 for the little guy, and he was a happy camper. He has now caught more steelies than his sister, so it is on between the 2 of them, lmao. Here are a couple pics, I will up load the videos we got in a few days. All fish were released to fight again. Enjoy. Rich His first of the day: Got a new waterproof camera for Christmas, and just had to try it out, AWESOME: Here is the second one in the net, boy do they love those bags: Here is Dom with his second:
  2. She is a pro, has a few under her belt now, with many more to come. A couple of Drift Boat trips this coming year also, stay tuned for more from the east end of Lake O. Rich
  3. Thanks guys, we are hoping to be able to bring more of the same this winter. She is waitingfor tomorrow, heading back up, hope the fish want to play. Stay tuned. Rich
  4. was able to get in a last minute trip with Bryn, so it was all about her. It was cold and snowy, but we did manage to go 1 for 2. Her fish came a on a bead under a float and the one I lost was on a sac. Here is a pic and a video for your pleasure. Enjoy: :D http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v711/SEADUCKTION/?action=view&current=SteelheadPrincess11-23-08.flv Rich
  5. It has been a few weeks since my last trip to the river, this time it was trout time. Fished with my buddy DJ, and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!! I had to ask if it was November or if it was drop back time. The fish were stacked in the holes, and were willing to play. We lost count, but can tell it was many more than 20 fish landed, and many more on. With the high water we have fresh chrome, and they are full of piss and vineagar. Fish came on floats, drifting beads and sacs, didn't matter color. Warm weather, lots of fish, and great company, what a way to spend the day. Hope you enjoy the porn as much as we did catching them. If you have ever wanted to do some steelhead fishing, now is the time, they are saying it is better than the 80's if that is possible. Rich
  6. Some more Lake O porn from the east end. 28.02 28+ A few more: Dad's 27lber Dad's 34+ day after the LOC ended biggest fish of the year: A couple more: Hope next year is as good or better. Twas the year of the big kings, we averaged at least one king every time out over 27lbs. Rich
  7. Took dad and his buddy out yesterday for a few hours in the am. Started in short of the pack, 3 riggers and 2 dipseys. We ended up 14 for 17 with 2 sheephead over 13lbs, 1 king that tipped the scale on the boat over 29lbs, and the rest were browns to 8 lbs. We had one on the boat that was not registered, so no go on the weigh in, oh well. We lost 3 other kings, had triple on at once, which turned into a quad, but we dropped the king out of that bunch. The guys were worn out, so pulled at 1215 for the dock. Diehard Stinger mupp rig down 90', Kevrokian Spook mupp rig down 80', MD echip, tapped with Big Weenie Md tape with an ATOMMIK proam fly, mupped up with a Savant Frog down 65', white echip/hammer out 250, and a chrome echip/mirage out 250 all took fish. The temp was way down, will we working for the next couple of days, then we will be back at it. Good Luck guys. Here are a few pics. Rich First sheepy: Start of the quad: A couple of the browns: George in battle with his big guy. He was like a little kid while the fight was in process and after we got the fishin the boat. His biggest king to date.
  8. HMM, and where is all that $$$$$ going???? No wonder they own so much over here. Rich
  9. I was finally able to get out on our boat for a few hours this am. After being on the water at 500 for the past few days I decided to head up a little later with Dad and Dave. High sun and clear water did not help, but we did manage to slime the deck, and missed 2 others. Was seeing bottom in 25', the fish came on a stinger bumble bee down 8' over 15' east of the river. Everything was working great on the boat, so it was a good shake down, now wish I would have headed up earlier. I was able to use the Chamberlain release for my rigger with the Depth Raider on it, had good readings down as far as 15', will report if I can get deeper without reterminating directly to the release. If you are heading out of Mexico, get there early, and stay away from the pack, and you should have some action. The only bird action we saw this weekend was north, and the alewives we found in the bellies of the fish were big, 4-6 inches. Good Luck. Rich. Here is a pic of the first fish on the boat this year. Here is a pic of a Fish Doctor Kid's stick in the rigger attached with a Chamberlain, using 10lb main line. This is the rigger that the fish came on.
  10. Lol, Thanks Frank, I will tell my daughter that the hat makes her look like a boy, lol JK. It was fun, now it will be lake time. Rich
  11. The kids had a half day today, so I decided to head to the river to see if we could get into a couple of fish. We did not get there until after 1230, so I headed right to a spot I knew would be ok for them to stand on the bank and have fun. After getting rigged, and about 10 minutes into the fishing, float drops and Dominick is locked into his first river rainbow, it was a nice little buck, great way to start him out. After a couple of pics, he was released to grow, and fight another day. Ok, rigged back up, another 10-15 minutes, float drops, and Bryn is locked into her first fish of the day. I knew this fish was bigger than her first ever river fish, but she did a great job, and after almost 10 minutes we had a sweet hen, aprox 11lbs. After letting Dominick take a couple pics, due to the fish not cooperating with Bryn, we revived her and off she went to fight another day. After that the action dropped way off, the fish stopped moving around, we did hook into one other one, that put the whoppin on Dominick, and kissed us goodbye. All in all a good day, great weather and a couple of fish for the kids to play with. Here area couple of pics from today, wish the one was zoomed in better, but he is 6 years old, so I need to give him a few camera lessons, lol enjoy. Rich
  12. I was able to hit the river right after they dropped the water, and the dropbacks have started really good. It sure was nice to be able to fish without 5 layers of clothing, and snow flying. I fished with my buddy DJ, and between the 2 of us we quit counting after 20 fish landed. We were in the upper river, covered a few differant holes up top, all fish were caught on sacs, and released. I really put the working to my new Center Pin reel, that thing is great. Big fish of the day was measured at 36", est weight to be 14 lbs, the picture just does not do the fish justice. Here are just a few pics that we took of the these awesome fish, enjoy. Rich This is the big boy, awesome fight, almost 20 minutes of hard fighting with this brute.
  13. I am a hardtop man, have the 240 fisherman, another thing to look at is how long are you going to keep the boat. If this will be your last boat, you will have to replce the softtop, hardtop is forever. Just a thought for the future. rich
  14. Frank, I used them on a boat that we were fishing in one of the porams on Lake O. We had our dipseys running off the outrigger, what a tool they are for that. One way to spread out your wires, and when they get smashed by a king, oh yea. You can have your back turned and all of a sudden TWANGGGGGG, fish on. As far as flat lines, I think the planers have taken over there, and I donot think they are long enough to run copper or lead off, if you are trying to keep it away from the boat. IMHO. Would love to put a set on the boat, but not going to happen on this boat. Rich
  15. Here is a sun set from this year off Salmon River A sunrise off Oswego before the ProAm this year. A couple from last year out of Wilson Ny in May. A sunrise form Fairhaven Ny during the Fairhaven challege 2 years ago, that is Richard in the Pic. A sunrise from Wilson Ny 3 years ago. Enjoy. Rich
  16. Dominick in his battle mode, putting the heat on that king. Here is a clearer pic of the king, he had just woke beofre this chromer hit. His first Steelie ever, 15 minutes after the king. A small jack. Here is a pic of the his biggest Steelie to date. The pic does not do this fish justice. You could see the pink down the side, and it was bigger than it looks. Someone will hopefully enjoy him when it hits the river. This was the last fish of the trip, the look on his face when he relized there was fish on was awesome. Hope you enjoy as much as we did, it was a great day on the water. Rich
  17. Took a ride out to Oswego and had a real good day. The Steelies and some Chinnies wanted to play. The little guy took his first, and second steeies ever and his biggest to date, 13.5 lbs. he is going to be a fishing catching machine when he gets bigger. Ended up 8 for 11. Rich
  18. 1: Savant Jake 45 Froggy behind an ATOMMIK twinkie rig 2: Mich Stinger Mag NBK on the chute rigger 55 back, deepest rigger 3: Savant Mickey Finn Mupp rigg or the Savant Green Alewive mupp rig Come on spring. Rich
  19. Since the weather was so nice today I decided to hit the water instead of the marsh. I was in contact with Empty Hook (Jeff) and a friend of mine from another board, Zeke. Zeke has not been out on the big lake trolling in a few years, he has never had a fish on the wire. To finish out our crew we had the fish catcher Dominick and myself. We launched out of Wrights at 630 and were fishing by 700. I headed a little east out of the chute, set down in 200 and continued out. We marked fish the whole way out, but they were way down, in the 180 to the bottom range. Once we hit the 300 mark the fish started to rise and we were in the game in 350. First rigger went off was down 125 with a NBK mag back 55. Dominick was up and he put the whoopin on a sweet 17.5 lb king, talk about chrome fish. Jeff has a smoked salmon recipe he wants to try so we boxed that fish. Set up the nbk again and 15 minutes later it fire again, Dominick was up again and this time is was a nice 5-6 lb steelie. We took a couple jacks, all the fish were down 100' or better. The Savant Jake froggy setup was back in business for today also with fish. I recieved a call from Nemisis, he told me to put down a customized Savant Frog that he sent me. Zeke was able to take his first 2 fish on the wire which were on the Chrome echip/mirage out 330, both fish were healthy 4 lb jacks. Jeff and I got into the mix with another steelie and a jack to add to the tally. The custom Savant frog was down 120 on the rigger, we marked a nice big mark at 100, I was in the back, watched the rigger fire and set the hook into a nice fish. We got Dominick strapped into his fighting belt and he proceeded to fight a high jumping Steelie that turned out be around 13 lbs. He did an awesome job with the rod and we landed that fish, after a couple of pics the bruiser was set free. We picked up at 1230, ended with 8 for 11. All the fish came east of the chute in 320-380 feet. Heard one of the better charters out there and was only 1 for 3 when we left. I can say that there is a ton of fish in the bottom 40 feet of the water column, not sure what they are, but there is a lot of fish. This could be my last trip to the big lake for the season, what a way to end it, great crew and fish that were willing to play. Good Luck to anyone that gets out, the fish are there, just watch the weather. Here are a few pics from today, I will add more when I get them sent to me. Rich Here is Dominick's first king, fish weighed over 16 lbs 8 hours after being caught so we are figuring it weighed around 17-18 lbs. Here is his first steelie of the day. Here is Zeke with his first and second wire fish, I think he will be back for more. More to come later.
  20. Well, we made the final trip out of Henderson for the year, what a way to end the year up there. Dad and I took my two little ones out and we had a great day on the water. Headed south of the light for a few miles down off Lakeview Marsh and Southwick beach. The fish were in 72-85 fow, and wanted the flies and paddles we had to offer. Started out with a double, dipsey rod fired right after I put it at 225' on a #3, with a Chrome Echip and Hammer fly, ended up with a 20lb king for my daughter. A rigger rod fires 1 minute after the dipsey fired and Dominick is into his first ever salmon at 5 years old. His fish came on a White Echip with a ATOMMIK mirage fly down 73', ended up being a nice 25 lb king. We set up shop again and about and hour later the rigger rod fires, with a Green Echip/ and a Skein Machine fly down 63', less than a minute later the dipsey fires with a Chrome/green Spin Dr with an ATOMMIK packer fly out 225'. Bryn handled her fish, a nice 24 lb hen, which was released for another day. Dominick could not handle his fish this time, so he had to hand it off to Bryn, but she was still tired from her fish. Grandpa came in a gave a hand for a few minutes before we let Bryn finish it out with a nice 25lb Buck, that was released also. We missed a third release while all this was going on, so it was almost a triple. We missed 2 more fish after that before the final fish of the day came as we were picking up. That fish also came on the Green Echip/ SkeinMachine fly. That fish ended up being the big fish of the year so far, at approx 27lbs, but not big enough for the board so after the pic it was set free. Another friend was 6 for 14 in the same area on pretty much the same rigs, except he was running meat also. Here are the pics that are on the still camera, will get some more later from the video. The first double of the day and we are off: Here is the last fish of the day, which also had a big Lamprey on it, which is now fish bait: Here is the first 2 we got in the am, the big one is Dominick's first king: Good Luck guys, I will be out of Mexico or Oswego for the rest of the year. Rich
  21. Well, we did not find the King for Bryn, but she got a nice laker, biggest to date for her, approx 13lbs. It was released to fight another day. Now I need to get her a salmon this year, it has been 2 years since her last one. Good Luck. Rich
  22. Well I had the good fortune of being able to take out 3 guys from Fort Drum: Chris, Banana Man Matt, and Johnny. I have been wanting to get these guys out now for a couple of weeks, but the schedule never seemed to work. We hit the Wall off the Light house to find it pretty much desolate. I marked a few fish, but nothing wanted to play except a small skippy that came on the Savant Jake Froggy with the twinkie rig. It was getting late in the morning, I had just come off working all night, so I decided to head off the finger and throw down a lake trout rig. Well, we hit a nice of pod of fish and I pretty much dropped it on the fishes head. No sooner had the ball hit the bottom and the rod was on the way up, Fish On. Since Johnny is going to be heading back to Iraq in a month I said he was going to get this fish, he had already been in contact with a king that came unbuttoned. The first laker was a little one about 4 lbs. I was seeing some kings in the area, but they did not want anything to do with our offerings, except for another little skippy on the jake again. We released both those little guys for the future. I put down another laker rig and we were into another, but Banana man was up to bat, lost fish. Earlier in the day I could not figure why we could not get anything to go. I asked: Does anyone have a banana on board? Matt says " I do", well I almost threw him over the side, along with the banana. Needless to say he will never bring another banana fishing with him. He was locked into 2 differant fish, but lost them both. That will teach him to have a banana on my boat. I reset both rods, #3 fires, Chris grabs the rod, just then #2 fires, and Johnny grabs the rod. Chris proceeds to lose his fish, but Johnny stays locked up. After about 5 minutes, he brings a 15-16lb laker on board. To date that is his biggest fish, not sure if it went to the taxidermist or not. We had a few more on , but the curse of the banana stayed with us. We ended the day 4 for 9. I told johnny to get his arse back home so we could get him into a king. I want to Thank all the Armed forces that keep our country safe and allow all of us to enjoy our freedom. here are a couple of pics. This is Johnny with his big pig: This a pic of the crew, they had a great day, wish we could have put a king or two on board, but they were happy. Good Luck to all, hopefully the big boys will show up again for the weekend. It won't be long now. Rich
  23. Bill, I had them dialed in until yesterday. The fish disappeared, but I did take 2 skippys on the jake. I had 3 soldiers from Drum on the boat. So I needed to get them some fish, ended hitting the mud chickens for a couple of hours. Johnny, who is shipping over in a month took his biggest fish yesterday, a 15-16 lb laker. I will post pics later. Rich
