  1. I believe that my insurance has company has had a change of heart. I got a call from their corprate office late last night and have a meeting on monday. They told me that I am covered and that my agent had made a mistake when he said other wise. For some reason they have me meeting a different agent and adjuster than who I dealt with previously. So I hope I have turned the corner now that I am about ready to put the house back together. The lady I am buying the house from is paying for all the supplies and my and my crews time to get the house livable again. I think I should be back home by the middle of the may.

I will be having the house to the studs this weekend and the electrician in on tue/wed and after that I will be hanging drywall late next week and painting in 2 weeks. And then the kitchen cupboards and appliances

I guess in the end it looks like it will work out good with a little work.

I really appreciate all the help you guys have offered here, I am lucky enough to have my father and all his gear that will be able to keep us on the water this year.

    Thank you All

    Steve Kelly:grin:

  2. :

sorry to hear about the fire.. As far as cleaning the lures im a big fan of Mean Grean cleaners,as far as smell goes ,I too would be concerned ,but, I watched a charter captian last year use super glue to hold down spoon tape that was lifting off.He lit a smoke after smoked half of it and threw lure back in water and he had another fish on before he could finish that smoke! And that spoon was hot all morning???? I wouldnt have believed it had I not saw for myself. Hope all workes out for you and your family

My dad smokes like an old chevy to as he handles lures.

It looks like I am trashing everything and using my fathers gear till I rebuild with my yearly bonus.

Or maybe I should just hock it all on craigs list;):D:lol:

  3. Steve, sorry for all your losses.. what a bummer. If you need anything let us know... Sorry, I am no good with cleaning ideas or lawyers, but just wanted to say thanks for your help with reports and if you need anything holler!

Yeah it looks like my D river fishing is done for the year as my trolling motor and all my jigging rods were melted except 1. but my jigs in the water proof floating case are good still.

And to think I laughed at my wife when she bought me that case:lol:

  4. I was up last night wiping what I could off but and I probably won't get to really clean them till this weekend as I have the house to take care of first. I have enough stuff to fish with that was unharmed so if I can't get them clean I just start over. Just like most fisherman I had enough stuff to run a small charter boat so I guess its kind of like a spring cleaning

  5. I had 80% of my salmon and walleye tackle damaged in a fire.

Most of it is burned and melted so I threw all that stuff away.

Now I have some spoons and other misc tackle that was not on the shelf, that has smoke damage.

Do you guys think I can save it or just toss it and start over. Most of it has heavy smoke soot covering it.

And any ideas what I could try to wash it with as I don't think smoke sent is a very hot seller on the lakes.

Also I had to toss all my rods as the tips melted and broke, and i am going to clean all the reels as they have very light smoke damage. So any opinion on reel cleaning would help.

    Thanks Steve

  6. Mama's twisting my arm, if I can get the house gutted I may be able to drag the small boat over fri night and fish sat am. I just have to get all of our belongings into a dumpster and all the dry wall out of the whole house so they can get to the smoke remediation on saterday while I'm gone. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

12 days I think I can do that after I take the rest of this week off.

And she found out I tried to sneak $200 in blood run copper and reels from bretts into the house today.

Hope to see you guys there Steve

    T-18 days

  7. Thanks We were able to get enough cloths from the laundry room that were hardly touched. We have enough to get settled and start getting new stuff. Hopefully when we are able to get back in we can get some of the pics and other non replacables.

Thanks We really appreciate all the offers. Steve, Heidi, Mackenzie, Hunter, Morgan & Logan Kelly

  8. Funny I did remember to shut the door and they said it saved a lot of heat damage. But the smoke ruined all of our stuff.

We were leasing the house as we looked in the area for a new home. And I just found out today that when we changed insurance companies in FEB they never put renters on the insurance. I missed it when I reviewed the policy before I singed it. What a mess up on my part. The land lord said she would see what she could get covered under her insurance since it was a building prob So we are hopping for the best

Thanks to everyone that has offered help it really means a lot to the whole family.
