  1. The water clarity was perfect-stained to muddy and warm. Much warmer than last year. I started 2011 March 24th with a surface temp in the mud of 38 deg and fast limits. This year that same water is 45 deg. Maybe just a little early yet. I hope you guys get them this weekend.
  2. Fished from 0900-1200. 2/2 with one small king and a brown. No coho? Didn't see a fish come off the piers or on the other boats. Fished both piers and south to the white wall. Covered 8ft out to 28ft. Surface temp ranged from 44-45 deg. Tight Lines
  3. Went 14 for 18. All 2-3 yr old kings. Fished 90-130 until 0930 then trolled our way out to 220. We were pretty much straight out of Holland to off the sliders. Inside our best baits were a white paddle or SD with an oceana fly down 90-120 feet. Out Jr streaks on 5/7/10 color cores did the damage. East or SE troll seemed best.
  4. Fished with a friend this AM. Went 10 for 20ish (8 kings, coho, LT) south in 110-130 FOW. Riggers 70-110 down and divers 120-160 back did most of the damage. All fish on spinnies and flies. Best were mountain dew(chrome & UVblades) with various mirage flies and white/crush with an oceana down deeper. Tight Lines
  5. Everybody has those days. Just part of fishing. I run the divers as above with loose drags. We also back the drag off when a fish hits and allow them to get that first run out of their system. We keep the diver in the water while fighting the fish to minimize the amount of swinging around in the air. All of the flies have Owner hooks. Another option is to add a second snubber. Good Luck.
  6. Yikes! Had to work last night. Was a bit sleepy to say the least.
  7. Fished from 0600-0930. 3 man limit of kings and coho. Fished 70 fow early and then slowly moved out to 110-120. Moonshine spoons did the damage early on both coppers and riggers. No particular standout. Wire dipseys 120-190 back with green flashers and flies after sunrise. Temp was still deep 48 deg at 90 down. Pics:
  8. The Accusharp gets the job done and is very user friendly.
  9. Fished most everyday with limits of 10-15 fish per trip being the norm. Mainly kings with a few coho and steelhead. Biggest fish was 24lbs but numerous fish in the 18-22lb class made for exciting fishing. We fished south in the mornings and some evenings from Grace road towards Arcadia to avoid the pack to the north. The offshore fishery provided fast afternoon action with a mixed bag of fish. Inshore Baits: Moonshine Neil's Limit, Happee Meal, Double Trouble. Streak Blue & Green dolphin. Green flashers/green flies and Meat rigs on the divers. Offshore baits: Silver Streak Mini's rocked in mongoose, mixed veggie, orange crush, blue dolphin. Pics:
  10. Went 7/10 fishing alone from 1800-2030. 4 Kings, 1 Coho, 2 LT(released). Fished 120-150 FOW with UV paddles/flies when the sun was up and changed to glow stuff when it was setting. Riggers 90-115 down took the fish.
  11. Fished over the weekend both AM and PM. Averaged 6-7 Kings per trip with most 17-20lbs. Temp changing each trip kept things very inconsistent. We mainly fished from out front to Grace Rd in 60-115 FOW. Moonshine spoons in assorted greens and blacks along with green flashers and green flies were best. No one bait or set up was a standout. We fish on everything from a 3 color to a 400 copper.
  12. Will be up Thursday for 10 days. Staying in the municipal marina. I will let you know if we get into them.
  13. I have heard that there are fish north of the harbor off Lincoln creek. Might be worth a look in the AM as that area should have warmer warm. The water has been cold like that off Holland for awhile and fish have been in 50-60 fow. Good Luck in the AM. Big Weenie's customer service is excellent.
  14. Lakeshore Outfitters in Saugatuck has strips and whole bait.
  15. We have been using a mix of Ivory dish soap and water. It does seem to work but frequent reapplication is necessary (every 1-2 hours depending on how bad you sweat). A light pant designed for fishing such as offered by Cabelas and Columbia keeps your legs cool and fly free. As a bonus they zip off into shorts.
  16. Nate realing in his first fish. He and his dad both got their first fish. Smiles all around.
  17. Fished 7/19 around Saugatuck in 50-65 fow. Went 7/11 mix of kings and steel. 5/7 color cores, 150 coppers were best. Took one on a mono diver back 120 on 2 with a green flasher/fly set up. Otherwise, all spoons in silver streak mini, stinger, and stingray size. Orange crush, nuked veggies, wonderbread were best. Fished 7/20 with the girls off the sliders. Went 3/8 with a kings and a laker. Had a great time with loud screaming everytime a fish hit. Hillarious to watch them fight fish. Similar sets as above. Have not had a hit on a magnum spoon in the past few trips. The bait I have pulled from their stomachs has been ~3". Following are pics from the past 3 trips.
  18. Fished south in 40-100 fow both days from 1700-2100. 6 for 8 on saturday and 4 for 8 tonight. 5 yr old and his dad got their first fish. All kings and steelhead. 3/5/7 color cores were best with either regular stinger or mini streaks in oranges. Riggers took a few fish with blue dolphin and ludington watermelon streaks being the best. One 18lb king on a mono dispsy/green flasher/proctologist fly back 100 on 2. Seems the AM bite is better than the PM. Current was pushing hard from the south tonight may warm things up a bit.
  19. We have been using a spray bottle with a mix of water and Ivory Soap. Seems to work pretty well but have to reapply about every hour or two. As a bonus my nonskid cleans up great.
  20. Good Job. The current kept changing that morning as well.
