out of manistee where i fish when you hear the 14s or the 17, they are talking about your north south location.where you are north or south of port. when they are talkin the 28 line or the 32 line they are talking about east west numbers.,or how far off shore you are.the numbers will vary port to port.hope this helps.

days like today are why i love november.started the day off with fish in the box right away so we decided to only keep the bleeders and release the rest of the fish so we could fish for a while, good decision as we had well over 50 fish on today landing 42.19 kings,19 steelhead,2 lakers,1 coho and a brown for a lk michigan grand slam:grin:we fished from the mid 14s to the 17s,100 to 250 fow with 140 to 170 fow being the best.all 10 rods took fish today.pink panties 65 to 75 dwn was the best rigger, agent orange 45 dwn, bumble bee 32 dwn and modified juicy fruit.the hot core was a mini silver streak silver screw ball on 1 color, bumble bee on 2 color, steele stomper on 3 colors, fire ball on 3 colors, smokin hot glow mixed veggies on 5 colors and orange tranny on 5 colors.speed was 3.1 to 3.4 sog.there were huge piles of bait every where today, some reaching 70 to 80 feet up from the bottom.to boot it was a beautiful day on the water waves less than 1 foot for the most part and ended up fishing in my jeans and t shirt,in november :eek:talked to j wheeler on the water today and they did pretty good today to fishing a little north of us.pic in the gallery of the 20 we kept

try the mouth of the elk river, there is a launch right there.i have never fished in the boat there but know the brown and steelhead are around.i would lean more towards crank baits and sticks.if you dont mind a little drive frankfort and manistee are great this time of year.we have been getting limits of steelhead the last few weeks shot me a pm for more specifics on manistee or frankfort.we will be fishing there on sun.welcome aboard

we threw back a few nice ones to.was getting ready to pull lines and had a rigger go looked over at the boards and one was ripping back got those two about half way in and notice 2 fish jumping behinde the boards on the other side, ended up getting two of them to the boat.great way to end the day:grin:

i have 2 bass pro shops xps series boxes that are two sided and about the same size as the standard plano boxes that holds 30 of the 4 1/2 inch aces high plugs a piece.i think they are for crank baits.they have 5 v shaped rows on each side.all my plugs have 4 ft leaders on them all rigged and ready to go.

met up with j wheeler this morning and headed to manistee, ended up 18 for 27,16 steel head ,1 coho and a king,we fished 80 to 250 fow with 100 to 130 fow being the best.1,2,3,5 colors and riggers at 75,60,and 45 dwn.bumblbee, pink panties, fire ball, agent orange, orange tranny, mixed veggies, smokin hot mixed veggies, and a silver screwball did the damage.things started off a little bumpy with 3 to 5s but droped off throughout the day to 1 footers when we were running in.the fish were pretty lively today,we noticed most of the fish were on by them jumping out of the water before the board would go ripping back.turned out to be a great day on the water, thanks for riding along jason.

they could pu me on the list for a bigger off shore board for copper:grin:
-
just a little one.its not a big numbers fishery but trophy fish are there,we have boated 2 19#s one 17#s and a hand full over 10#s out of there over the years.lots of lake trout.back over to manistee in the morning for some more steel.
-
we fished tawas this morning 2 for 2,1 eye and a brown.brown trout challenger minnow 100 bk on a board and a fire tiger reef runner on 1 color.both fish were caught out by buoy 6.lots of loose weed floating around and the water was pretty stirred up.as soon as you got one side set you had to clear the weeds of the other side and repeat.

i agree, if i am taking fish steady i wont pull the dead rods.have seen it kill a spread more than one time
-
my fireball with earings must be tainted, cause it didnt catch one fist this year ! It was run on every rod and gave me a big 0!
must be i have 4 of them in my box with the tape about chewed off.send it to me i will give it a good testing:grin:the fish in my avatar was caught on a fireball with earings last fall.
-
i switched from the church boards to off shore boards with the snapper release,i think they run more uniform than the church boards.i run up too 300 ft of 45# copper off them.
-
personaly i use a lot of different spoons from stinger and dream weaver ,to silver streak and moonshine, also fishlanders, nails, and prokings.
i have no faverate brand, but have favorite spoons in certain brands. but streaks are a very good choise.
