  1. I need to try the Z boards, but i doubt they will pull my gear out to the sides like my otter boats. Even with 500 and 600 coppers these boats are perpendicular to my boat. Church boards just sag back way to much and i get nervous they will get into my wires or slide divers. In my opinion the church boards are good to about 3 colors of core. After that they can get far enough out to the sides. Especially on turns.

i just ran the z board big daddys for the first time on sun and you will be suprised how well they pull long segments of copper and lead,i had to see it to believe it:thumb:

  2. Insta Launch is a good site to camp, I have camped there. Most of the people with larger boats that camp there launch at the City launch near the mouth of the River. Manistee lake has a lot of shallow areas and it's a ways to the river mouth. I'd compare conditions similar to Snug Harbor at Muskegon. Trust me, Launch at the City Launch.:)

its a good campground but like frank said there launch has some shallow areas to cross to get to the big water.we should be there at least one day.hope to meet some of you there:thumb:

  3. Adjust the speed if all else fails. We caught fish on 3.1 at the ball last weekend and had to slow down (due to a tip from Dirty Dog) to 2.1 this past weekend. Fish are still around' date=' but hanging low (on the bottom). Either that or GO DEEP. The hard part about that in the lower bowl is it means a big gas bill.[/quote']

its nice having the deepwater in a little closer in the northern part of the lake.the breaks out deep are starting to form.we got into some steel about 16 miles out sun,saw tons of 8 to 10 inch kings feeding on the surface.

  4. I agee I've owned diawa's and penn's before but haven't bought anything except shimano in years. You get what you pay for in fishing reels. Buy it once for more or buy it atleast twice for less.

    me too,tekotas and charter specials:thumb:

  5. i have seen a boat hit the pier in manistee just about every year for at least the past 5,have a picture of a hardtop thompson parked right on the south pier.the fog was still terible when we got there at noon today.this was very sad news to get on the water today.the boat that sank today was captained by a good friend of one of my fishing partners.dave is a very experinced captain, just goes to show you can never take things for granted out there.

  6. hit the bay yesterday for a little walleye action, ended up 5 for 6 in 10 to 14 fow.hjs in #12 and #14 fire tiger, clown, glass clown and a custom color from franks g.o.d. gold/red 70 ft bk.not a lot of action we fised hard to get the first 2 and hit a tripple and pulled lines and headed in.

  7. its not mine but a buddy just droped of his new to him 1860 lowe roughneck with a 50 horse yammy to reside in my garage next to the fishmaster.this makes me very happy because i have permission to float it whenever i want:thumb:now even the rivers are not safe for the fish.i think i have a new best friend now:grin:

  8. Great job in the tough stuff Jay, also kinda strange , I thought I was going to read another report saying 15 for 18 or some thing like that. Any how, 2 is better than sitting in the house any day, nice job.

thats our worst trip over there in over 2 years,at least it was not a skunk:thumb:and was a lot more fun than spring clean up around the house:D

  9. I had an epirb on my big boat when I had it, but I often neglected to check it's batteries. :help: (example of how not to do it..)

Fortunately we never had to use it!

the new handheld units you only have to change the batterys every 5 years.:thumb:
