  1. THanks guys! Yes, the hose was no biggie...just a couple of small burns on the forearm hooking it back up. At least I know my impeller is good and so is my bilge pump!! I wish I could have boated that steelie. Biggest one I've ever hooked into. The line counter said 275 ft and he still looked big. Had that big, thick bull head on it... Beautiful fish. He would have only been in the boat long enough for some pic's and a weight.. Oh well..such is fishing.. We had a loon hanging around and following us for about 15 minutes too... Way cool.. Man, it felt good to get back on the pond!
  2. Nailer, This is the same connection I use for my Depth Raider and it works great. I start losing signal at 180 feet.. Buy some of the liquid electrical tape in a can and hit the swivel and bolt. It all helps..
  3. Well, we took the Just Right out for it's shakedown cruise Saturday afternoon. Set up just off the pierheads and headed south about 3:00pm. Was just south of Bil Mar in 12 fow and took a rip from an absoutely huge steelhead. This fish was in the air more than in the water. He managed to cause the board to dive and snapped off between the board and himself. He hit a black and silver X Rap. That was our only rip. The warmest water we found was 45 degrees. (Other than what was in my bilge) Blew a hose on the boat and managed to get that fixed. Found a couple of other small quirks that need attention but all in all, was an awesome afternoon.. It's going to be a great season!
  4. Wow..A heartbeat for 500 miles? I think with the millions (if not billions) of fish in that radius the poor shark would go crazy! No wonder they're so pissed off!!!
  5. It was a good show overall. I didn't find too many deals, though.. I found it funny that one booth were selling rods for $5 more than what they had them advertised in the catalog they were giving out.. We had a good time. It was good seeing old friends and meeting a couple of new ones!
  6. Here ya go, Tony.. http://www.ridgebackrattler.com/
  7. I've got a 12 lb chrome shark that I'll let go for $50 and shipping.... Personally, I prefer the Ridgeback Rattlers.
  8. I'll be there Saturday! The wallet will be open!!
  9. Aaron, Thats basically it. I haven't used the half hitch but thats a better idea I think. But then again, I've never (knock on wood) had a failure, either! Good luck!
  10. Linedancin, It's basically a simple, overhand knot. I'll try to describe to the best of my ability. Take the end of your wire and thread it through the swivel. Bring the end back up doubling the wire and forming a loop with the swivel hanging. Take the doubled up wire above the swivel and wrap it around your finger once, then thread the swivel through the loop you created by wrapping the wire around your finger. Pull it as tight as you can get it and trim your tag end. Believe me, it's a lot simpler to tie than that sounds!! Good luck!
  11. Hey Scott.. Glad to see you made it over here! See you this summer!
  12. BigWeenie flies are my definate go to!! I NEVER leave home without my Big Weenie!!
  13. I totally agree with Capt Jon. The muddier the better. Personally, I would run 4 Church boards. Two two color, a 3 and a 4 color, and 2 riggers. Brads thin fin and/or rattle shads off the 2 colors, Rapala husky jerk off the 3 color, and a dodger and coho fly on the 4 color. Two riggers with very short leads (propwash) with clean spoons. I'd run a mix of very bright colors and darks to see what the fish preferred. Try and follow the mudlines and locate baitfish.
  14. Glad to hear you're ok, Mike.. I run on a lot of these types of calls and they normally do not have the outcome that you have. The Joe will be there...
  15. Actually.... She has 3 of them!!!!
  16. I have to say that I am REAL lucky in this department.. IE: Question to wife.. Honey, do you have a problem with me picking up a couple of copper set ups? We do not have these in our arsenal, and they are a very productive tool.. Answer.. If you have the money for them, go for it. Do you need a few bucks? My wife supports our addiction as much as I do.. I am a VERY LUCKY man!! GOD.....I HOPE SHE READS THIS!!!!
  17. Ron, That's what I thought. I have no idea about the dive curve for dacron. The most I've used it for is backing. Have you run any of the super braids? If not, give them a try. You only need 100 yds or so on each reel and the rest can be backing (dacron?? ) I think if you run the braid (with a much smaller diameter) You'll be very impressed and hooked on it immediately. Good luck.
  18. Hey fellas.. Is it just me? I believe that Ron is asking about "old school" Dacron...Not braid... If so, there is a HUGE difference. Wire will dive MUCH deeper than the dacron. Braid.. (IE: Power Pro, Spider Wire, etc..) is much closer in depth potential. The signature, as stated in a previous post, is much different. If I totally read this wrong, forgive me please! Just tryin to help a little...
  19. Dick, What is the net situation like? I have not been up yet but I'm hoping for this weekend.. Thanks, Bill Brock
  20. Thanks fella's.. I'm going down to take a look at it in the morning. Going to test compression and possibly run it if he has muffs.. Thanks again for all your help! Bill
  21. Hey fellas.. A buddy of mine has a 1967 Evinrude 55 hp (3 cyl) outboard that is giving him total fits. Starts up and runs fine until it's warm, then dies. He has replaced the thermostat, rebuilt the carbs, and double checked all water lines to insure good flow. Still doing it. Any ideas?? Also, does anyone know if this model has a "pee hole"? There is no obvious discharge.. Thanks for your help!!
  22. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Thats very kind of you!! I spoke with him last night and he has to be back at Camp Pendleton on the 21st. H will be leaving either the 17th or 18th since he is going to be driving back to Cali. This MAY change since he is trying to attach to a different Co. so he can immediately deploy back to the sandbox instead of waiting for his next scheduled deployment. If he does that, I'm sure he'll fly back instead of driving since there is nowhere to store his car at Pendleton. I'll know alot more when I hook up with him (and hopefully a marlin!!) next weekend. Thanks again for the offer!!! Bill
  23. I'm not sure.. It's possible, but it will be cutting it close. I'll shoot him an e-mail and see if he knows for sure.
