schultzs Posted March 26, 2008 Share Posted March 26, 2008 We fished Standish area today for perch. Most ice is gone south of Whites Beach. Wigwam bay area still has ice BUT it is starting to deteriorate. 12-15" there. 4x4s were running around but not for long.Pine River has ice from launch to the bay but that is starting to go too. Next week it might be open.Looks like commercial guys at palmer Rd and across from Pine River launch are getting ready to go as soon as ice is gone. Channel on Pine has good stakes to mark it. The last 2 days of southwest winds have killed the ice. 3 days ago the inner bay appeared to be locked up pretty good, but with that south wind I knew it was the end. Thank God....Get that ice outta here.....On another note, P1, you are correct. The bay did claim the life of another fisher this week. It is sad, and I feel for his family.
