Wire or Braid downrigger

I'm not sure if this has been brought up. Last year was my first year with electric down riggers and had braid on one and 150 lbs cable on the other.

Braid even down to 75' had very little blow back with only a 8 lbs ball. The wire is what I was use to and had to watch my turns. Braid had zero hum and I didn't see any fish catching ability from one to the other but jellyfish kinda got stuck on the braid more then cable. This is in salt water.

I like the wire on my riggers. We get water fleas that get nasty on the braid. I always liked the rigger wire whine.

If you have electric downriggers and believe in the + ion theory for attracking fish then braid will not work because it doesn't conduct electricity.

I always worried about the knots with braid too, that and when to replace it before a failure in the braid itself.

I had braid a while back, and found that it got week after a few years. I started looking rigger weights, and took it off.
