1mainiac Posted July 28, 2010 Share Posted July 28, 2010 There are several formulas one I use as a rule of thumb is 20% of trailer weight up to 1000# 15% of trailer weight up to 2000# 10% up to 5000# and equalized hitch above 5000# This will keep your tongue weight around 200 lbs till you get into heavy trailers and under 500 untill you go to a equalized hitch.
