I had a facebook account for oh let's see.... uhm 3 days, had 3 past girlfriends try to invite me as their friend...(wife didin't like that) and several past employees trying to make friends... I don't need the drama... and my adult kids are too embarrassing to me for me to have some customers see their drama...
Thats why theirs filters so only those that you want to see read whats going on can.

I do agree, sometimes less rods in the water is more productive than the super spread. Ecspecially if you got the fish poppin...Lot easier to manage.

Nice report Tom. Sorry they didnt cooperate a bit better for ya. Been fickle for us the last couple days as well. Ice is real good out to around 15' off Linwood. Beyond that on the new ice its 6-7" everywhere ive been out to 18'. But, there are allot of smaller cracks out there that range in width from 1"-12" that ive come acrossed. Also some jams to be ware of. Fishing down off the park was real good, but has since slowed, at least for us and those i know. Last time i was there was Sunday. Pretty poor fishing and i covered some water along with 9 other guys. But as in any day, im sure someones still getttin em down there.

Thats what i heard too. A few buddies have been out without issue, but that dont mean anything. Ive been holding off myself waiting for more consistancy. Gonna have to wait a bit more i think or just keep to the 15' mark or less. That ice is thick and safe on the western shore from Linwood south. East side theyre getting out a LOOONG ways on good ice. Some friends have been doing well over there.

And the night before i seen about 30 of them. Not one yesterday either. Was good to fish with you Steve. Cya in two weeks for sure....I did some reading and we can spear those whitefish on the great lakes all year long...Might have to haul some extra gear along...I want a few of those 10# whitefish for the smoker!!!!

Great post Rayman96. You definitely gotta take some time and spool wire and braid tightly. Otherwise your in for it burring itself in the spool. I use a lead ball or a small dipsey to wind mine on. Works fantastic. IMO braid and wire are some of the most indestructable lines there is if use correctly. No problems with either that werent self/fish(crossing and cutting) induced.

It was really good Tom, but slowed considerably yesterday. Water cleared and the people moved in on where the fish were..Shut em off and scattered em for us. We quit at 5 pm last night when the hurrican winds started!

Sorry to hear that Mike.

I run 30# Power Pro on my divers. Never had any problems breaking anything off and i run allot of flashers and flies on my divers. I have the green power pro, but am definitely considering the red Power Pro when i respool just cause its easier to see. Would be a plus since i often run multiple divers on a side.

Thanks fellas. It was allot of fun.
Fishy,
I got those whitefish on an 1/8 oz. Adam Bomb that i make, or a similar lure is a northland forage minnow. Its a swim jig. Anyhow, i tipped it with a whole perch minnow. Got two on them.
Then the following day i got another whitefish on a #3 Jiggin rap. I used those Muskie Shop Fasttach clips on the bottom of the rap to get the hook away from the body. I have a poor hook up to land ratio with raps and these have improved it significantly. On the #3 and #5 raps i use the size 1 fasttach's and on the #7 and up i use the size 2 fastach. Works fantastically. Anyhow, i tip them with just a minnow head.
I actually had a nice walleye about to slurp up my jiggin rap when all of a sudden it just bolted off and in an instant a white fish came in like lightning and just nailed the jigging rap. Next thing i know i got another whitefish on ice. So three in two days...Awesome. Seem many more 8-10# whitefish down the hole, but couldnt get any to commit. Theyd just circle my offering like sharks, even if i layed it on bottom. Pretty awesome to see them do their thing. Pretty cool watching those toothy critters engulf your bait....also frustrating to see a 12# fish take one swipe at your perfectly still lure and miss and keep on its way...Oh how i wanted that fish...Woulda placed nicely in the Shiver on the River contest...Ill have to keep after em!

Good luck Paul...smack em!!!

Well ill tell ya the bite has been nothing shore of a steam rolling lately. Damn the fish are furoucious!!! Ice is pretty good at 10-15" depending on where you are. You can get out to 10-15' from Linwood South depending on where you are. Theres a crack to contend with about a mile and a half out. Its workign daily and is changing. Beyond the main pack ice i checked it on Monday and i broke through with one good whack with my spud. I heard rumors of guys out on that today with machines. Seems hard to believe. In anyevent, the new ice will be difficult to discern if you dont know what it begins. Be safe out there. It starts about 1.89 miles out from the Boutell/Parish Rd area. Be safe and dont go alone if you head out.
Heres some fun Dad and I hauled in last night.

Nice cutting board. I made one very similar to that and even put two 5/8"x1"x10" boards on the bottom to lock it into the sink. That way it doesnt move around on ya.
