  1. Fished this afternoon for a short while. I set my lead out on one side and copper on the other. Put the first rigger down 91 foot with a slider. Caught three fish before I could get another rigger set. All came on a Fishlander that was orange with spots and was the slider mentioned above. Before I could set it out again my reels were vibrating or humming. I would touch them and get what I thought was a static shock. I pulled them in with the last one shocking me the whole time of retrieval. The lake must have had some electricity in it. I did not see any lightning but it was quite a storm by the time I got to the dock. Never had this happen before. I think it would have been a great day if I could have fished for more than an hour. Caught these fish in 100 foot of water north of the twin dunes.

Anyone ever have this happen before? I better check the weather not just the lake forecast from now on.

I have herd of it happening to others but, never to myself. Nice job on the fish Keith (I think thats right)

  2. So tell me a little more about the group. I am interested. What all ports do you fish? do you have meetings anywhere or get togethers? I heard you guys on the radio this last weekend and that is how i learned of the board.

    Welcome.

Come to the next event and enjoy.

If ever you need help on the lake and where out there, hail us on the radio (Team Nailer). We're not the best but, we do ok. I'll be glad to share info (this goes fore any one out there).

  3. Too bad for all the small fish Dirty Dog, but it sounds like some fast action.

We set up in 150 and headed west. Hit our first fish at 170 - small king off the wire diver 175 back w/ big flasher fly. That same rig took one more rip at 175 (unbuttoned) turned around at 200 only to find 2 small shakers on both of our rigger rods. we worked our way back to the 170 range and started hitting fish.

Our most productive rig was the wire diver with a walker mag diver set at 1 back 300 feet. One had a green spinner and the Sigs Rig green glow fly. The other had a white spinner/fly. The wire produced 5 of the 9 fish with 2 more blanks. We did get 1 king on a full core with a custom painted Bloody nose Jplug, and a Laker off the rigger on a Silver Streak Smerf.

    we ended 9 for 11.

  4. Fish are still out there and biting. Went 8 for 13 in 4 hours. 6 kings, laker, and a steel. Just run your normal spring patterns in normal spring depths. Nothing special to report. Did have a nice flurry after the sun went under the water. Good luck to all

Thanks for the report Tom. Do you mind sharing what a "normal spring pattern" would be?

With Two Kids in spring sports, I don't normally get out this early.

Is there a pre dawn shallow bite like there is in the summer?

Or are all the fish just scattered through the water column?

    Thanks,

    Ken.

  5. The nice thing about outboards is there is really only three things that can go wrong. Spark, Compression, or Fuel. Eliminate two and you will have your answer. The compression should be near or above 100 psi, and within %10 of each other. If you can test the spark, it should jump 7/16 of an inch, nice and blue.

As far as the pee hole, many old motors did not have them. If this thing has sat for a bit he should be advised to replace the impeller.

You can get coils and other parts on line much more reasonable than at the marine store.

I've used Iboates.com for these type of parts and had good luck.

  6. Last year I bought a 17.6 foot boat motor and trailer. I only needed the motor. The boat is gone and now I'm left with this Trailer. Its a single axle roller type easy loader brand. It's fully adjustable. The tires could use replacing but the rest of it is in great shape. Whats it worth? Make me a reasonable offer. I'll try to get a pic of it if needed.
