  1. Kabet, I'm a fly fisherman at heart and the rivers is where I've done most of my fishing however that is not a fly reel. I run mooching reels on everything but my dipsey rods and I pair them with 9ft spinning rods that you would typically use in the river for my rigger rods and 6'6" spinning rods for my boards. We like to keep catching fish as fun as possible so I run light tackle and the mooching reels with lighter rods are a blast when you get a screamer king on, especially in a 16ft boat We caught this 28lb king last August On this setup... Now that was a bit of chaos
  2. Snuck out after work on Friday night and fished from 6-9pm. Worked 8-15 FOW north of the pier heads, north and south trolls with north being the best. Struggled to get all 6 lines in the water for the first hour and finished 6 for 10 with 4 browns, a small steelhead, and a shaker king to the net. Lost probably a 20lb king at the back of the boat to a broken swivel at sunset. HotnTots, Thundersticks, and Stingers in UV Yellow Tuxedo and UV Green Dolphin took the fish. My friend Alex with a nice brown The bag Hit Port Sheldon again this morning hoping for a repeat but it was a tough morning for us and most we talked to with the water cooling a bit from the strong northwest blow yesterday. Still managed to go 3 for 6 with a brown, shaker king, and shaker steelhead. Black and gold rapala and hotntots took the fish.
  3. Great job Mike! We were debating on coming down this morning but stuck near home because it fished well on Friday night and weren't sure how much the lake would lay down overnight with the strong East wind. Looks like we should have made the trip!
  4. nice job! love hearing about some good brown fishing!
  5. Great job Mike! Good to see the kings showing up in some numbers down there
  6. Took a day from work and took the boat down to St. Joe on Friday morning with my good friend Jake. Started by trolling south to the wall like last weekend without a bump and not marking anything on the graph. Decided to turn around and fish the mud out front and a bit north doing circles in 25-40 FOW for the rest of the morning. I kept everything up high for cohos but decided to drop one wire diver down low "just in case" there were any early kings around . That rod ended up taking a king and a laker which made the trip for us. Quit at 12:30pm with 2 throwback cohos, 1 keeper coho, a laker, and the surprise king. Here's what worked: Rigger - Stinger Steelie Stomper, down 6 back 60 --> coho Wire Diver - Stinger Gold Dbl Orange Crush, 3 setting out 30 --> coho Wire Diver - DW Carmel Icicle, 3 setting out 40 --> 7lb king Wire Diver - DW Carmel Icicle, 3 setting out 40 --> 5lb laker Board - Gold Black Back Rapala, high line back 50 --> coho Jake with his King The box Went back Saturday morning with my good friend Rob from work and was received with some pretty bumpy seas...at least for our boat ...and a brisk 35deg breeze that made it feel like it was in the 20s. Started by trying a few circles out front with pretty much the same spread we ended with on Friday with nothing going so we decided to work the shoreline in tight and south to try to get out of the wind. Worked down to the wall and back in 20-30 FOW and got one coho about 11am after the weather broke, the sun came out, and the lake started to settle down. Marked a ton of fish all morning just couldn't get them to go for some reason. Decided to work back up by the pier head but out deeper trying to find some midday biters in 50-60 FOW. Put a rigger and diver a bit deeper in the 30-40ft range again...just in case but nothing going until 2pm when I decided pull lines. Had just brought in a rigger when a wire diver out 70 with a Stingray UV Green Dolphin started thumping hard. Handed it to Rob and he landed this nice king that tipped the scale at 19lbs. Tried another pass through there with nothing going and called it a day. Heard of a few more nice kings taken on Saturday for the Brown Blast as well. I'm guessing if we get the warm weather forecasted this week the king fishing could take off down South.
  7. Nice job Ed! What FOW did you guys have the most luck in? We had a tougher day yesterday morning on the coho.
  8. Great job guys, might have to give South Haven a try and shorten the drive a little bit from going to St. Joe.
  9. Hit St. Joe today along with everybody else from 7:30-11. Finished up 10-12 all coho. Worked south in 18-25 FOW to start the morning and finished doing circle in the mud out from in 30-40 FOW. Spread consisted of two riggers with Stinger spoons and two boards with body baits. Added a wire dipsey while in the mud for the last hour. Green Tadpolly - board high line Pink Wiggle Wart - board high line Spoons from left to right: Jawbreaker - rigger down 6-8 back 50-60 Steelie Stomper - rigger down 6-8 back 50-60 Double Orange Crush (gold blade) - Dipsey on 3 setting out 37 SUPERTRAMP...get the bottom of that boat painted already
  10. Our best bait today was a green/chartruese tadpolly but we only have one! Will need to grab a few River Rockers as well it looks like
  11. Thanks guys, won't even have a chance to check it out until next weekend at the earliest anyways but I see almost 70 degrees in the forecast for Thursday Bring on the Sun, Rain, and Wind this week to get rid of that ice!
  12. Does anybody know if the launch is open? I've fished the pier quite a bit and know the area well, but we've never put our boat in there and the plan was to give it a try this spring. Reason I ask is I see nothing but open water out there on the webcam but no boats! http://stjoelighthouse.com/ Thanks!
  13. No hooks, just the bodies. Very easy to make harnesses with some Owner Trebles and 80lb braid which is what I like to do.
  14. I'd prefer to keep it as a lot for now.
  15. Thinning my plug count a bit more to make room for other things. I have 26 plugs here which includes 8 size 4's and 18 size 3's. The second and third rows from the top are glows. There are 3 Silver Horde mylar style ones and a few I doctored up with glow tape as well. Will only sell as a lot and looking for $60 for the bunch. I'm willing to ship if you pay with Paypal and cover the shipping and Paypal fee. Thanks!
  16. sorry Grant, I received a pm before your post. thanks for your interest though! if the deal falls through for some reason they're yours
  17. Plugs have been sold, thanks for the interest.
  18. Bought a huge lot of used plugs recently, way more than I need so I'm looking to get rid of what I have left. There are 63 in total (assuming I can count but feel free to double check yourself using the pics below ). I'd prefer not to split them and I'll let them go for $40 pickup in the GR area. I'll ship if you pay using Paypal but you pay shipping and Paypal fee. Thanks. chrome variations glows mylars painted hollow and tail unscrews so glow stick can be inserted
  19. The hooks are attached so you can switch them on and off using a snap swivel just like with spoons, its just more convenient. The J's need to be tied directly to the line so it just takes a little more time to change baits on the water.
