  1. Bumping up the old arsenal from two riggers by adding two dipseys or planer boards. The rods in the store labeled as dipsey rods seemed longer and a little stiffer. Is it better to have the extra length to get out farther and the extra stiffness to help set the hook on the fish? Would these "dipsey" rods be okay to run boards off of? We use standard 8 1/2' rods for riggers, would two more of these work fine with dipseys and boards?
  2. I read a report on the michigan sportsmen site a guy caught two steelhead off of planer boards with two color core out. I'm guessing this is just how much lead core line he ran behind the board? How long is two colors and how deep would that run behind the board? I think he ran the lead core on the board because he was using a spoon instead of a body bait to help it get down.
  3. What pound line do you guys like to run on your reels. We used to run twelve about five years ago, the last time we went out. That was mainly because we had smaller reels. Now we have larger reels with more capacity. I'm thinking 20lb because that's what Capt. Ken Neidlinger runs according to his tape, but with as clear as lake michigan is that seems a little heavy. Does 15lb or 17lb sound better. Just not sure.
  4. What is the advantage of running a rubber snubber with a dipsey diver? Does it actually help hook fish better or does it just help attract the fish better? Is it even necessary?
  5. Getting back in the game after a five year break and I need to restock my collection of spoons. I used to have very good success on standard size Stingers and standard size Dreamweavers. What is your guys' favorite brand of spoon, what size (standard, magnum), and what colors/patterns have been working well this year around Grand Haven and Port Sheldon in Lake Michigan?
  6. Finally getting the boat ready for a few trips this summer with my dad. We have a 16ft aluminum deep v and we used to run just two riggers off of it and nothing else, only two lures. I'm thinking of running stackers off of these to up it to four lures. I was wondering if running a diver rod on the outside of each rigger set way out on a number 3 would create too many problems when trying to reel in fish. We used to bring up the second rod and both canon balls when we hook a fish in the past. Would we be able to run these four rods and be able to land fish without have to bring in the rods? If so, what is the trick in keep the fish out of the cables and other lines when you are fighting them?
