I agree there is a fair amount of cheating going on in most tournies must be the NASCAR thing ( if you ain't cheating you ain't racing ). Most of us follow the rules but there usually so many rules that can't be inforced it is hard to prevent cheating without observerers, for many of the small events I just figure that if someone has to cheat to beat me well that answers any question as to who is the better fisherman. It is also hard to accuse some one of cheating unless you know you can prove it cause you end up looking like a whiner and a jerk. So in low entry fee tournies I just consider it WTF money and go fishing if I win cool if I lose so what. If my share of the entry fee was lunch money I could care less win or lose I am just out to fish and have fun if you feel you have to cheat to beat me that is your problem.

I consider my S-N-T probe the best single piece of fishing equip I ever bought in terms of fish returns. That said I could not afford both a Fish Hawk and a GPS fish finder 4 years ago so I bought a handheld Marine GPS and a Depth Raider I still have and use both. I have since bought a much nicer GPS fishfinder and some day may upgrade the Depth Raider as well. The Depth Raider is about to start it's 5th season on the second boat and the handheld GPS gets used for many things. Because it is a marine unit it has a basic map with most of the harbor and port info.

He is not to far off if the boat is in great condition he might be low. I find it ironic as my 1969 18ft Starcraft Holiday just returned to my yard a few min ago. After waiting for over a year for my brother to finish the deal he started on buying it from me I gave up and had him bring it back so now I have to sell it again.

I would check one of the Semi Trailer shops for long buck rivets or even for really long pop rivets but buck rivets would be stronger. Another option would be to use stainless bolts for them. I bet you are wishing you considered that paint striper about now. You probably could have had it sand blasted in a couple hours. Any how looks like you are making pretty good progress. It should be a very nice boat when you finish it. -
1 Thing I noticed is nearly everyone gave him advise based on inline boards when he said he has a mast. Daybreak is right you have to get all the core working in the water on a mast planer board setup that might mean 50ft or more from the core to the clip. No difference than if you just set the rod in a holder you often have quite a bit of line between the rod tip and the water. With a mast board setup the clip attachment point on the tether line can be anywhere from 2ft to 8 or 10 ft above the water so you need enough line to get the entire core in the water and working.

We are adding another award catagory for the biggest fish overall for our series Purple Taco Fly Supply has just put up a 125.00 big fish prize. This will go to the biggest fish of the season in the event of a tie the money will be split. This money is seperate from the daily big fish money for each event and will be presented at the final event. I would also like to point out Purple Taco has some great deals going including several material give aways so don't forget to support the great companies that are helping make this possible.

Great job however I have a complaint all you guys are going fishing and no one called me LOL I gotta get my boat in the water. -
Mark it looks like he catchs the same size fish on your boat as he does on mine. I hope he redeems himself during the Brown Blast LOL.

Shakespear Galaxy 5225 XT for a Shakespear is a good antenna. and worth the money spent however bang for your buck you would likely go to a Mariner 8700XT West Marine sells. Try and keep in mind the average guy does not care much about his radio performance till it don't work and many only want a radio to meet Coast Guard requirements this is fine and remember there is no competition to own the best. I have no dog in the hunt for your money I just want people to understand a bit what happens when you push the mic button and how to get more use out of a radio you invested money into. And God forbid the day comes you need the radio to save your life I want it to work and work well.

pretty much Frank still am a Ham love my radios all winter but they collect dust in the summer when the weather and work let me fish.
-
Running of a mast I usually let out way more than I would on a inline board at least enough to get the entire core in the water 10 ft or more.

I was using flies tipped with wax worms and spawn never thought I would see the day when I would catch a sucker on a Steelhead candy fly in fairly fast water under a bobber I was not even bottom bouncing. We could not put a spawn sack on the bottom without catching a sucker.

Plenty of exercise is one word for it Mike. On the bright side I got to catch several fish on my new Center Pin rod maybe someday I will buy the center pin reel for it. I have a Okuma Bait runner reel on it which actually works pretty decent. My father in Law was impressed as to how well it handled fish. It is one of the Aventa rods 15ft 6in so it takes some getting used to I lost my first fish because I could not figure out how to hold the rod and net the fish. That took some adjustment I found the best way was to get the fish up stream above me and ease off and let him slide back to me and the net. The other method for the suckers was work them over to shore and kick em up on the bank LOL.

Thanks Mike I have to keep trying to simplfy what I say As even I don't want to get out my Scientific calculator and work on this stuff I just want to fish. I am pretty sure no one wants to hear me discuss velocity factor of differant coax or any of the other stuff that goes along with this. But hey we can all get out our calculators and turn to page 235 of the ARRL antenna handbook LOL ( I have the book but off hand have no idea what is on that page LOL ). But some days it is amazing what I can still pull out of the non pickled portions of my brain.

Fished for a few hours Sunday up on the White 1 Steelhead about 24in Net release LOL 1 Brown around 17 in released, 6 suckers kept for a friend. Could have gotten way more suckers but it is a long walk thru the woods to where were had a nice section of water pretty much to ourselves lost a couple of walleye and a few onkown fish but all in all a nice morining in waders.

I can personally vouch for Nick's radio I have talked to him from at least 15 to 20 miles away on a couple ocassions. I don't remember off the top of my head which Shakespear I have but it was on sale for 99 bucks when I bought it. One thing I wil do this year is add a 2 ft extension to get my antenna above my boat having as much antenna in clear space helps eliminate dead spots. I had a 8 ft ant on my 18ft boat taller is better bumper stickers should be issued.
