  1. 1 is hot in may on anything 3 is great in mid summer on longcore12 or 15 also on a deep rigger 7 is as good if not better that 3 and was good for me last year from mid may the aug. 12 is good for me on a full core 18 is alway good on any core from 5 to 15 and 23 is my all time faverite on a corner rigger down 50 or deeper
  2. i would run the same spread as hit man but stay out of the basin and channel area "i HATE COMBAT FISHING" i would slowly move out to the 40 to 50 ft area and start looking and as he said NO SPOON all plugs and flash fly setups cores in the 3 to 7 range 2 riggers down 15 and 30 and as the sun comes up move them down to 25 and 35 stretched back 60 and 80 all cores and riggers would have silver hoards ,j-plugs or lymen plugs also 2 braid divers with flashers and flys back 40 to 60 on 3 and if i could not find anything in there go west and replace the 3 coler with a 10 and pay attentoin to to graph and water temps
  3. i got them from big lake out fitters , they are convector 55's with 150 yards of dacron for backing, ive never had a problem with being low on the backing side, i also have my 12's on the same modle reels but more backing i think its 200 yards, and 10's are on 45'
  4. as paulywood stated, cores are also my faverite rods ,and as a side note i see a lot of people saying they don't like a full core or anything longer in my oppinoin ,your out there mostly for the fight and when a long core go's of, now you have a battle currently i have 12 core rods on the dog ,a pair of 2,3,5,7,10,12 and 15 colers ,and from june though mid aug. the last few year "do to warm water" i mainly run 7,10,and 12 on one side and 10 ,12 and 15 on the other side here is a few pics of some long core fish this is a 15 coler and this is the results this pic is mid july out of sagotuck mi. all where on 10 coler or longer now that was fun
  5. WOW , that looks like the illusive mikey fish only to be found on GREAT LAKE FISHERMAN
  6. i was just wondering if any one has ever tried to yous a acua view , i bought one from my brother inlaw a few years ago and thought about trying to rig it to a rigger cable , has any one ever done this
  7. ken hit the nail write on the head "no pun intended" ,lead core set ups are my most productive set up year round in the spring i use 2,3 and 5color cores for cohos and browns and as summer comes closer as the water warms and the fish go deeper i start running longer lengths such as 7 ,10 ,12 and even 15 coler core part of the key to it is to find out what depth the fish are feeding at and trie to get the write length of core out there to match as a rule of thumb , a singel coler will sink around 3 to 5 ft depending on boat speed and current for me ,cores shine as the sun comes up and the fish start to spook away from the boat
  8. nice job randy
  9. looks like a good day

  14. well i took the day off of work today to do a little ice fishing{long week there} so i called sea-mac up last nite to see if he mite want to come along we hit the ice this morning around 8am and fished until about 1 pm and took 42 nice gill rangeing 7.5 to close to 9 , and 8 crappies in the 8 to 9 inch range home for our limets the jigs that worked for me where a yellow and org. marmooska in size 14 and a purple haze jd costum in size 8 tipped with 2 spikes a peace , looks like i will be looking for some place else for the morning do to a pike tourny on this lake in the morning wich in turn means around 100 peopal on the ice by 8am thanks for comeing along mike it was fun as always:D
  15. nice job ken
  16. hey roger, my dad and i took another 50 from that lk. tonite ,no sorting today all 8 to 9s
  17. a marmooska jig is a horazontal style jig that , has a football shaped head with a small hook that comes out the back hear is a pic of my favorite colers{sorry for the quality} these little jigs work the best with 2 spikes or mouses also they are in a size 14 and ive found that if the fish come up and just look at it and will not bite i will drop down to a sive 16 or 18 with only 1 spike and move it REALY SLOW and it works like a CHARM
  18. wire is AWSOME, i have 2 okuma 8ft 6 blue dimand wire rods ,with 30d convectors that have 1000 ft of stainless wire and i love em these are my faverite setups to catch fish on
  19. yup , i was there tonite and took 16 home in 1 and a half hours ,same jig you where yousing , nice job rog. see ya in the morning
  20. Happy new year
  21. nice job rog. , i just got back from there ,and the lake level has came up so much that you need waders if not a conoe to get to the ice now ,looks like around 30 ft. of open water and all the docks are under by atleast 12 inches also with the 3 ft of snow that melted do to the 2 plus inches of rain and 60 degree temps out side right now, most of the roads had a lot of water flowing over them or where closed
