  1. Nick Glad to hear you finally got your boat out. Good luck up to Frankfort.
  2. Nice going fellas. Caz I want to see the 40lber hanging on a scale, me thinks you are stretching things a little. How were the waves, we were out of St Joe and it was kind a bumpy and went 5 for ?. Had a couple youinsters on board that got sea sick so we came in early. The weather man sure screwed up the wave report.
  3. I will be there Sunday fishing with Catfishogie in The Battle of the Leauge event.
  4. Darrin I guess that is what you call it. You turn the handle back toward you and it lets the line out, when you hit the depth you want you turn the crank forward and it locks it.
  5. No Rich, Rick made me throw it overboard when I fished with him.
  6. Nick If it were me and am going to miss the am bite I would give an evening trip a try. The last hour of daylight is usually great and for an hour or so after dark can be good also. Just make sure you are ready as the sun hits the water, something about the sun setting drives them nuts.
  7. anmetcalf No I don't, the digital is on the blink. If you want to know what they look like go to Cabelas or Gander Mtn web site and look up Walker Downriggers and they should have a pic and all the specs on it. Only difference is these have a little ware on them but they are full of cable. Caz The only one I know that carries farming tools on their boat is you and Larry.
  8. anmetcalf If you are just looking for a cheap set to get stated, I have a pair of Walker manuals. i think they are the Lake Master ? They have the small spools, one foot per crank. Come with counters and mounting plates, if interested let me know.
  9. The news at noon today said the search was called off. Didn't catch it all but the USCG figured at that point there would be no survivors left ot find, it was past the 30 hour mark. I heard them claim after 30 hours you would be a goner if not found.
  10. Thanks for the help Steve. I thought 10 to 15 lbs to start with was a bit much. Didn't want to cook it, wanted it smoked.
  11. Thanks Rick, don't feel a day over 49. Rich Do you have a charcoal or electric? The book said start with 10 to 15 lbs of coal, thats just seems like a lot to me.
  12. Well the wife and kids decided I needed a new Brinkman Smoker for my birthday. I think there is a turkey still in the freezer, it will have to be the first victem . Anybody have a good recipe for turkey, I thinks it's about 12 lbs.
  13. I recivied an email yesterday that they will be sending me 2 free lures to try, all they want is some feedback on how they preformed.
  14. Thanks fellas, I bought the motor. A freind gave me an OMC kicker bracket so I should be all set.

  16. Saw a hen tonight with 7 little ones, about 8" tall and they all flew off from the road. I think yotes cause more problems by killing hens that are setting. Had a hen last year that I was keeping an eye on, she had a dozen eggs in her nest and something killed her and all the eggs were destroyed too.
  17. I tried it a long time ago and figured it wasn't worth it, the deer ignoored it untill mid December. I had a small amont of carrots and ear corn along with a half bale of hay, made 2 piles like this in 2 different locations, the deer knew it was there but waited untill the farm crops were all harvesyed and the remains buried under the snow before they came to the bait and pawed it up and ate it. I remember one nite setting there with the muzzle loader and just before dark 70 deer crossed the fence onto my 2 1/2 acre corn stubble to feed on the bait and corn that was missed by the picker, didn't dare blink with that many sets of eyeballs looking around with some as close as 5 yards. It was a heck of rush having that many deer to watch even though they were all smooth headed as far as I could tell.
  18. Have a guy tring to sell me a 10hp Johnson outboard as a kicker for 22ft Islander.. Forward and reverse both work, pull start, water pump seems to be working ok, not sure of the year. I am guessing mid 60's but not sure. He wants $150.00 for it, is it worth it. Another ? can anyone tell me how far down on the transome I need to mount the kicker mount. It's an OMC with the assist on it. The boat is a 1979 22ft Starcraft Islander, if I remember right the water comes allmost to the top of the outdrive but not sure. Thanks
  19. Mike I bet your neighbor went looking and spooked him out of the area. Next time I wouldn't say a word to anybody that you can't trust.
  20. One thing to add. I opened up the stomachs on the 3 fish I brought home and all 3 were full of alwives, hope thats a good sign as far as the bait fish go. This was the first time this I found anything in their bellys this year. Here is Catfishhoge at the weigh in weighing his fish. He went from 2nd place to 4th place in points. Don't rub it in Rich, we have had a couple rough slow days so look out for the next one. That black and white kitty last month realy hurt.
