  1. All the boats mentioned by the OP are good choices. We're all partial to what we like for various reasons. I like the ride of my glass boat over that of a metal boat on the water also. While the glass is heavier, I am not quite clear on the issue of trailering. Mine is only 21', and is heavy, but trailering it is not an issue. The only thing that I wish was different about my boat, is that I had an outboard. The 4.3L v6 is a great engine, but, an outboard would definitely extend my fishing season. Good luck in your search for your boat.

  2. We used to "thump" them quite often. Now a days, we just flip them into the cooler and extract the hook. In most instances we don't need to "thump" them, but if we get one that is especially squirrely we will not hesitate to subdue the subject with a "thump" on the noggin.

  3. I am curious to follow your progress Don. My Trophy has a lower than perfect hardtop as well.

    Mine too....it only takes one good "WHACK" of the noggin, and it don't happen again....but another foot would be nice.........Wonder what the impact will have on the ride and handling of the boat....:confused:

  4. I was thinking of doing that too John. I have close to 30-40 gallons in mine, it's been treated for hibernation and everything. I have not had any issues since I've owned the boat. I have always left close to a full tank in it and treated with Stabill. This year my goal was to try the opposite, and burn almost all of the fuel out of it, but that didn't work out as planned.

  5. I have found it to be a balancing act. I spend what time i can fishing, but also don't neglect being the father the kids need me to be. Hoping this summer i can mix them together and spend some quality time with them on the water. We have done a little perch fishing, a little ice fishing, and they seem to really enjoy it. I believe it's not so much the activity, rather spending quality time with daddy. They make my world go round. H

  6. I hear ya Jason. Made 2 trips to the west side in less than ideal conditions but at least made the best of those trips and got some fish to boot. Seems the weather most of the summer was good till it got to August when I like to go west. I certainly cannot complain on the fish that lower Lk Huron gave up to us this past season and am looking forward to spring. I winterized the boat this past week and will spend the winter getting my project boat ready for the water in the spring. It will help keep my mind off of fishing over the winter.

    For you big tin can lovers this is my project, so far have her gutted, new transom is made as well as the cabin walls.

    Have fun making that Big Tin Can what you want it to be!

    I'll likely see you early spring on the sunrise side.....

  7. My fishing season is over! :eek: This weekend was my last scheduled trip for the year. The weather did not cooperate, so fishing out of the boat did not happen. Ran up to fish a river yesterday, which yielded one coho. Then from there I took the scenic route up to the boat. Checked out the lake. which didn't look bad near shore, but offshore it was ROLLING.

    Summation of the season: MY TIMING STUNK!

    Every time we fished we were faced with less than ideal conditions. Whether it be wind, or the water just never set up for us to capitalize on some easy fishing. It amazes me that every single trip for salmon this year was affected by weather conditions. This is a first for me. Hoping next year things are a bit better for me and the crew. We worked our tales off for everything we caught, and by no means was it a horrible season, just a lot more work than usual.

    BRING ON THE ICE!:thumb::grin:

    too much "promoting " can sometimes be perceived as ramming it down your throat sometimes and do more harm than good for the company you represent

    Yes, quite annoying IMO! post a legit report, and that in itself will do the selling......:thumb:
